  • What's the material called?

  • did anyone hear a cry at 1:38

  • @dragonslayer050819 that's not a cry.

  • with certain desks with the right baskets underneath the seat you can do this

  • tuning fork?

  • my science teacher did this to us.... Ouch.

  • I played the cello once

  • frequency is inversely proportional to the length of the rod right? Imagine a shorter rod....

  • wouldnt it sound different if you held the rod at a different position?

  • i have very bad hearing so i turned my volume all the way up and my sisters thought the smoke alarm went off

  • OH FOR HEAVENS SAKE

  • Chelo Rosin is the same as Violin, Viola, and Bass Rosin.

  • at the end sombody yelled DOG!

  • that guy keeps failing at it! lol

  • compression wave, does he mean longitudinal wave?

  • i used to do this with the desks at school. you would lick ur fingers and rub one of the bars of the basket under the seat and it would do this

  • 0:35 that's what she said ^.^

  • when the rods made a sound it attracted my cat lol

  • Texas A&M! Whoop!

  • 0:15 hahahha

  • whats the hz of that vibration ... im serious

  • i already knew that cause im in orchestra and that rod is what the string is made of and the rosin makes the sound

  • LOL "now we have our sound engineer 'STOPP!'"

  • @lovlygirl567 he was startung to say THat is amazing!... or THat is great

  • @lovlygirl567 I think thats actualy from the theme tune, but i could be wrong

  • cool

  • That is sooooo cool

  • my strings teacher does that with a violin bow on a xylophone

  • Damn when i heard that noise i thought it was something in my house so i looked around my house to see where it was coming from but i find out.

  • this works for classroom chairs with the wires underneath the seat for books..

make sure nothing is inside it, then on the side rod wet your finger a little but not much and do the same thing... it can get really really loud

  • it comes in a block that you crush up

  • Does this work on Bass Rosin? :B

  • we do it at school with the book holders under our desk, except the rosin is spit.

  • wha? how does he have powdered cello rosin? did he crush it into a powder?

  • If you hold the rod so it's being held 3/4 of the way up straight up and down, you will get an even higher pitch. We just did this in physics this year.

  • oOoH.!!

soO why does it actualy make dat noise.!? is it because of the pull of the hand.!??

  • i THINK its because of vibration.

sound=vibration, and the powder is rubbing the rods and causing vibration.

like how guitars make sound, the ropes vibrate and rub the air around it.

i may be horribly wrong, but i guessed.

  • what is the powder called?

  • Rosin. It's used on cello/violin bows to make it move across the strings properly, you can get it at most music stores.
