This is a very fine performance. I think the overly glassy Yamaha and much too tinny recording are keeping it from getting any hits. A shame, because Young is a clearly a gifted player, though a bit more dynamic nuance is indicated. But I think this is largely due to the piano and the acoustics - he gets nice orchestral effects in the climax leading into the "recap" at 5:30.
@mvolkov11 Thank you. Regarding acoustics, you''re right. That tiny space at Yamaha in NYC had state-of-the-art electronics actually built into the walls, which, like any steeo system, was capable of altering the acoustics. Thus the piano (which was a very good one, actually) could be made to sound as if it were in a large hall, or a small one, or given to a lot of reverb, or none, etc. Someone at Yamaha fooled around with it while I was rehearsing, resulting in that odd sound.
