  • I have a TH-42PZ80U that I am having an issue with. The prongs on the transformers are set up different. Any help with the prongs that I should be testing with this TV.

  • Hi, I got a panasonic tc-p42u1 with the ten blink code, but my powerboard does not look quite the same, im not sure which transformer is the one for a Y sustain. and possibility you can help me out? Excellent video by the way!

  • Tried it out today and works like a charm! Didn't solder the connection however but used alligator clamps instead to the points of solder already there. That way in case if blows I'm able to just take the whole thing off and then re-solder with proper soldering iron if need be at a later date. Thank you so much! Fixed a 500 problem for 50 bucks.

  • Thank you do much, the fix worked great, I would have been at a loss without your video.

  • I have contiunity on the original fuse but still have 7 blinks, any ideas? how do i test the secont transformers fuse? thanks in advance!

  • @Staflaraf There is no fuse in the other transformer. Seven blinks may be another control board problem or a short in the actual screen itself.

Do some googling regarding SC board. There is a free full diagnostic service manual in pdf readily available that has flowcharts to help isolate what board is causing problems by simply unplugging connectors.

Replacement boards are plentiful and quite affordable from what I have seen on ebay etc. I think your power supply is okay.

  • @gavincurtis Okay thanks for the quick reply! i did some unplug tests of various boards and it only gave me 10 blinks instead.

  • @Staflaraf contact me privately.

  • This worked perfectly and my TV is working perfectly. Thanks for your time and well laid out presentation.

  • Great tutorial, one question though, my TV would not even turn on before tried this and now it does turn on however it turns off after about 5 seconds and blinks 10 times again...any ideas?

    thanks

  • tv shop killer!

  • @BATMEX44 Whaaa? Me? Radio Shack at the local shopping mall is the one carrying the part...... :P

  • YOU'RE THE MAN. I'VE FIXED ONE PROBLEM NOW I HAVE ANOTHER ONE.TV GETS A GREENISH WITH A SNOWY WHITE LINE AT THE BOTTOM OF SCREEN AND SOUND ONLY COMES OUT WHEN HOOKS UP TO COMPONENT CONNECTION. ANY CLUES IN HOW COULD I FIX THAT?

  • @NGHTRIDER1 Maybe the D board? Might need firmware update. $50.00 board on ebay.

  • Can I just tell you.....you are a G*D D*MN genius!!!! I bought a non working 42pz77u to fix....hobby....I was going with the fact that the caps go bad on the power board...I replaced ALL of them, didn't solve the 10 blink. Saw your video and did what you said to do.....FIXED!! Happy as a clam right now! You mentioned in the video about cooling...these tv's come with 4 fans. When I took the back off of the tv, it was dusty as hell....bad airflow probably caused the transformer to fry!!!

  • I wasted £35 on a second hand DG board only to find it didn't cure anything then stumbled upon this excellent video and fixed my TV first attempt following your instructions. I tested it by joining the ends of the two wires and everything fires up as it should, so now I'm waiting for a thermal fuse to finish the job properly ....wish I'd found this before I bought the DG board and a new TV !!!!! at least I will now have a monster 42" plasma for the bedroom ! .... thanks again !!!!!!

  • @thegribster Thank you! :)

  • @thegribster Gonna get 5.1 for that? I would.

  • @gavincurtis I have a Panasonic television model TH-50pz80u... It has started to not turn on and blinks 10 times I have tested the power supply as well as all of the compacitors where do we find the thermal fuse on this model?

  • ok my tv dont work, red lighr, flashed so quick, loads of flashed , not sure how many, help!

  • hi there great video, can you help me, i havea panasonci TH-50PV30 it wont turn on and the red light bklinks like 20 times fast then just the red light?

hope you can help!!!!!! cheers Noze

  • Excellent video thank you. I went through your test exactly and the thermal fuse was in fact blown. After replacing according to your process this part was fixed. With great anticipation I put everything back together with the hope of the TV working. I still have the 10 flashes of death of the power button. Do you have any other suggestions??? Please

  • @100stephenjones Hmmmm.... Did you make sure that there is continuity with the new fuse at those exact test points I show in the video? Double check and let me know.

  • @gavincurtis Yes, before the repair there was no continuity, actually the board looked a little rough in that area from overheating. After the repair, however, there was continuity. I didn't use your exact thermal fuse but purchased some from Digikey with similar specs.

  • @100stephenjones I will see if I can come up with some test values for you.

  • @gavincurtis Oh yes, I checked and there certainly is continuity where there wasn't previously. I used the same test points you illustrated.

  • What if my tv has 7 blinks what then the model I have is the TH-42PZ700U

  • Excellent video and advice. My 4 year old Pana TH-42PZ70BA (UK Model) which I gave to my son and daughter-in-law a year ago, died on Boxing Day, 2 days ago. They needed a TV so purchased a Panasonic 3D model but that was an expense they could have done without just after Christmas. I took the dead tv (10 blinking LED code) home and being a former tv engineer checked the obvious things, bulging capacitors etc. Then I found your video. Same PSU board so gave it a go today and good news. Thanks.

  • I did the repair as you mentioned and it definitely works. I had been probing the power supply for some time and although I knew about the fuse I could never find it.

Do you have a part number for the fuse.

  • @PrincessRenee100 Radio Shack part number 270-1320

  • @gavincurtis

Thanks gavincurtis but I was more thinking about the old one you took out of the transformer. The one you showed in your video. I wasn't able to read the writing on it.

The one I used was a 270-1322 from the Source as Radio-shack is no longer in Canada.

  • @PrincessRenee100 I was amazed the camera locked focus on it and stay there....

When I get another one, do my best get that part number to you.

But all you need is a thermal fuse 135-150 centigrade rating. Amperage is not important.

    Fan cool the transformer.

  • good information. thanks

  • Great video and nice find!

  • found both my transformers blown i'll let you know the outcome oh by the way still have a bit o hair left was pulling it out trying to find this one
