The baffles that came with the pipes were internal and basically just a honecomb pattern inside to diffuse the sound. I thought they would be too loud. The hard kores were add'l and turned out to be a waste of money. The pipes have mellowed since I got them (or i have gotten used to them) I imagine if I put my stockers on now they would sound plain wimpy!
hi ,yairidy90. i just bought the same exhaust for the same bike and im wondering why you bought aftermarket hard kore baffles when the exhaust comes with its own set of baffles?
I have the RB Street Lites from a couple years back. They sound 100x better without the baffles. I've had Harley guys tell me that it's the best sounding bike they've heard...that wasn't a HD of course. They're deep and throaty, but not obnoxiously loud. I can go on 4 hour rides without the sound bothering me. I personally will never order anything but RB. Btw..I have a 2001 Honda Shadow VT1100 as well.
I would just like to say don't waste your money on the hard kore baffles. Al they did was take away the low end and leave them sounding splatty. If you REALLY want a set I'll sell them to you CHEAP!
Thanks for the info. Like you, I didn't plan to spend more money just to run the pipes but I enjoy the bike so much I will do what I have too. Your video sold me on these pipes. Looked at several different types but kept coming back to this video. Can't wait to get it back on the road. Thanks again, ride safe, Chris.
Hi Chris. Yes, I did have to change the jets and have it dynotunred to get it to quit popping on decel. They also talked me into getting a K&N Filter while I was at it. I wasn't planning on having to sink another $400+ after the pipes but she does have quite a bit more get up and go. that may have been more due to the dynotune and K&N than the new pipes. They seem to have broke in (or my hearing has) and they don't seem quite so loud now after 6 months
I have the same bike and just put on the same pipes. Did you change the jetting or air filter on the bike? If so what? I can't get mine to stop back firing and popping on deceleration. Thanks, Chris.
@TheMrclean1960 that lean backfire on decel is a common trait. . See an article in Motorcyclist for the fix. I kinda like it on my Shadow and will not do anything about it.
the bike sounds awesome!! dont go back to stock.
