Yeouch don't be so critical of her she's expecting a child and had to be on hormone shots prior to conception and during the first trimester because she miscarried 2 years ago. she looks so beautiful and is carrying pregnancy well. and is obviously going to distribute the weight she gains differently than somebody that's 5'3" like Jessica simpson because her torso is longer so there's more room for the baby to fill up
OK so there was a little bit of a problem with her getting in synch with the band but they pulled it together and finally got the song started! And yeah, she sounds INCREDIBLE!! She should stay pregnant forever if it makes her sound like this!

I hate to be the "hater" but personally I think her voice is blah at best. To be fair I was never a fan but she sounds like a karaoke version of herself. And for the person who said a voice changes, that is correct. However a big voice matures well into someone's 40s which can be the prime time for singing. Bottom line MC didn't take care of her voice like she should have and it's just sadly not even close to what it once was. But then again, I just watched this to see if she was preggers

Whitney, Toni, Celine, EVERY great singer has a point in their career when they realize that their voice has changed with the time. In conclusion, I don't think she sounds BAD, but I do think she sounds DIFFERENT.
This is upsetting...This is merely a shadow of what Mariah used to be able to do with that voice. No doubt it's still there (somewhere). But where's the depth, that beautiful deep sound that she wallowed in when she sang in chest voice. What is more frustrating is that she abandons those vocal techniques either because she is saving her voice by singing in a shallow head voice (not a diss fyi) or altering her sound to fit into the less talented crop of singers that dominate airwaves today.
@mycenth22 She lost that deep, warm and textured sound after the Daydream tour.... after that, her voice was still beautiful but starting cracking and after emancipation it just got worse... but it's still ACE!!!
totally.....i still listen to her old records...daydream....music box....emotions.....merry christmas is on repeat during the holidays....but like many mariah carey fans you have to delve into her remixes to find some gems of the past....
oh and her voice even as it is now is still wayyyyyy better than anyone new comin out.....she's the best.....

I think it's because we Brazilians are very emotional, we are not ashamed of showing our feelings, our affection for the artist. And Mariah was so nice with all the fans, chatting, signing autographs, taking pictures!
She seemed to be so comfortable on stage! And her voice is wonderful!!!

@harropt89 It's so true. here in America our biggest concern is how someone looks, that is why our music charts look the way they do more talentless people at the top for mediocre music because of how they look!!! ugh and if Mariah has had less than stellar performances here is probably because she was worried what will be said about her in the news the next day...b/c even after this performance all they talked about was her size not how great she was singing! So frustrating!

@lanay7 well if you read my comment the point of it is, that during this performance everyone was enjoying it, but as soon as the pics came out from this performances here in the state every headline in the states were making fun of her weight, look across Mariah's videos and look at all the people putting her down and saying she sucks now, and can't sing anymore. If you don't think america is more superficial than other places, lucky you.

Altogether, I don't know. But when I hear Mariah sing I want to hear someone that inspires me with talent and ability, not wishing that it were still there. I am still a Mariah fan thought and I will listen to her music as I have been for years.

@mycenth22 I'm also a longtime MC fan, and I agree with ur comments but ppl need to understand that the voice, like everything else in the body, CHANGES. Whitney, Toni, Celine, EVERY great singer has a point in their career when they realize that their voice has changed with the time. I appreciate her music and love her for what she's done with her career and obviously taking care of her voice as much as she has..
In conclusion, I don't think she sounds BAD, but I do think she sounds DIFFERENT.

This is upsetting...This is merely a shadow of what Mariah used to be able to do with that voice. No doubt it's still there (somewhere). But where's the depth, that beautiful deep sound that she wallowed in when she sang in chest voice. What is more frustrating is that she abandons those vocal techniques either because she is saving her voice by singing in a shallow head voice (not a diss fyi) or altering her sound to fit into the less talented crop of singers that dominate airwaves today.

@mycenth22 She lost that deep, warm and textured sound after the Daydream tour.... after that, her voice was still beautiful but starting cracking and after emancipation it just got worse... but it's still ACE!!!

totally.....i still listen to her old records...daydream....music box....emotions.....merry christmas is on repeat during the holidays....but like many mariah carey fans you have to delve into her remixes to find some gems of the past....
oh and her voice even as it is now is still wayyyyyy better than anyone new comin out.....she's the best.....

Her voice has been good for the whole Memoirs promo onwards. Im excited about the christmas album and the next studio album but hope she doesnt take the idol job because i think she is bigger than that show and i think it will only be around for another series or 2.
