the new Shadowrun reflects the new world of tech and a new thinking on tech...I still love it, its missing some of the "charm" but I like the way it plays
yeah ur right, i think a game should be made set in the shadowrun universe that is like saints row and world of warcraft, u could make ur charecter, drive high speed hovercars, hack into building securety systems, it would be awesome! some one make this game now!!!!
The greatest game ever... I wish someone would create an MMORPG so we could wash away the horror that is the FPS.
Bring back the glory of the Sega version, with the feel of the actual tabletop RPG. Shit, microsoft's project directors should have their dicks slammed in a sliding glass door for what they did to this amazing game.
And yeah, 4thED isn't quite as good as 3rd, but it's growing on me slowly...
SR-PL is Shadowrun polish community website. We cooperate with french and german fans (translation of programs and articles into polish), but my English is too poor to make english version.
Graphics - i don't remember whole list, but iirc it's from Shadows of Asia, Shadows of Europe and many more...
Mmmm, my husband is a 2nd ed guy too. Have you heard of the Neocron game? I haven't played it yet, but it looks very... from the website I think it's what the latest SR game should of been.
Shadows of Asia- ah, the pig-tailed school girl with the cyberleg. That's one of the few I did place. That was a tough book to find >>
The summary is thus: Rules are smoother, but it ain't shadowrun. A lot of that really strong 80s cyberpunk feel is gone. It's still dystopian, and technical, but it just doesn't feel like the old shadowrun anymore.
I will give you that, it's nice to not have to stop every time a decker does anything- or just relying on NPC deckers. But you're right, it's still missing... something. It's not like 2nd or 3rd, but I'm not able to place exactly what is missing :\
I think I've found it. It's the cyberpunk. It feels a lot more dystopian sci-fi, rather than having that very distinctive 80s-punk metalitity it seemed to have before. And they seem to have really killed the metaplot as well. Reminds me now of nWoD, they streamlined the rules, and cut out a lot of the character of the series.
They've also changed the structure of the writing. Far far less things like the Shadowland commentary, and the slang's been dialed down as well.
I'll tell you what it's missing...riggers. Proper riggers, mind. Not just a specialised decker. I'm sticking with 3rd ed. Our whole gaming group's in denial about the whole 4th edition. 4th was an attempt to compress all the stuff in the sourcebooks. This is because FASA sold Shadowrun to another gaming corp, and they kinda raped it :(
Now I've never PLAYEd 3rd ed. But every time I read the books, it seems so much higher level. Cyberdecks, for one thing. Having a blinged up cyberdeck MEANT something back then, and took a serious amount of nuyen. These days, it's effortless to start with the top of the line gear. I was actually somewhat suprised. My starting level hacker had EVERY program, level 5, and a 5/5/5/5 cyberdeck. And the ICE system is a bit weak. It just feels like normal combat, with programs instead of stats.
I love Shadowrun... I myself prefer third edition, over fourth. I just don't like some of the changes.

Anyone know what the name of the artist / song used are?
(Hate that so many people go to the trouble of making nice videos and then don't attribute the artists involved.)

Hi, villenvicious
Google "Shadowrun Awakened" - it's Shadowrun MMORG open source project on sourceforge.
@M$hit - well they handed rights to shadowrun creator company - google Smith & Tinker :)
@novels - well, there is a chance for this. Check official SR RPG site for more info :)

The site looked interesting, pity I couldn't read any of it though. But I'll trade game-for-game, are you a mudder?
Also, how much of that is 4th ed? I hardly recognized any of it, but that's probably because I'm a 3rd ed girl.

Oh, there is good news. You don't need to send the rest of the group away when it's the deckers turn to do his thing.
