  • Thanks a million man. Hardest part of this job was getting those darn screws off. LOL!!!

  • Most commom occurance with this machine. Easy fix too. Doesn't mean that the machine isn't a complete POS, but at least it's one thing you can fix yourself. I've gone through 2 of these machines in 15 months, the second one flooded my laundry room and is going to the dump.

  • Thank you so much! Bunch of change and other random stuff!

  • Thank you!!! The manual that comes with the washer doesn't tell you anything about the filter. It only tells you to check the drain hose. I only wish I'd have looked it up on here first. Could have saved me a lot of trouble. The "hidden" manual is only for "paid" service people apparently, that's messed up. A sock , a nickel, a barrette and a bunch of debris from washing bathroom rugs if anyone's keeping score.

  • Thank you very much...very helpful here...mine was boring...just lint and a nekclace...no panties :(

  • thanks men it save me money. cuz im about to buy new one until i sawa ur vid and follow ur direction. thanks bro!!! i found alot of stuffs in there by the way lmao!!!

  • Thanks!!! I got 3 baby socks, 48 cents, 9 bobby pins and a gray fuzzy thing that I think was still alive

  • thanks bud, worked right away

  • Found 8 quarters 10 pennies 1 ink pen 2 paper clips 5 screws and gunk. Thanks but it took a tor scrwdriveer to gain access to filter.

  • Thankyou so much I thought I had to spend hundreds of dollars to get it fix

  • Thanks for sharing!! FIXED!! Most of all, my wife is a happy camper. ;)

  • From ice fishing depth finder! Thanks again - ran washer all day w/out issues!

  • thanks for this video. fixed my problem in less than 10 minutes.. amazed at all that we found in there!!

  • Thanks!!! Fixed ours tonight - $14.71 in change, crayon, couple screws, battery, & piece of lead.

  • @Peterson6495 Wow! that's a lot of change. Take that to the bank!

  • @Peterson6495 & lead!? that is an oddity to find there

  • NICE!! TY FOR THE VIDEO...FIXED MY PROBLEM IN LESS THEN 15 MINUTES :D

  • My Handy Man Fixed our washer today! :) Our culprit was money, screws, a toy tweazer, a pocket knife and good ol Victoria secret thong! WOW! The ammount of things in there! THank you for the video! It helped...my handy man laughed at your video, but we found the same thing, even more, making him laugh even harder about it! :)

  • @bbryantbc Lol those little culprits !

  • Thanks a TON dude! Just got an F-21 error. Found like $3 in change, toothpicks, hairties, lint and some q-tips.

  • This video went viral on Taiwan

  • @reemanwells37f ???? what is Taiwan ?????

  • Great! My machine was fixed in less than ten minutes!

  • Thank You , my wife had been asking me to fix the washer, it would not drain or spin, could not get it to go through a complete cycle, Kept getting a F-21 error. Found, one sock, a necklace and some s hooks in the drain, it is working fine now. Again thank you.

  • What kind of baby wears a sock with three straps on a triangle of material that looks like a thong?

  • Saved me an immense amount of time and money. I removed one penny and some random nastiness from the drain assembly - machine works. Thanks!

  • Thanks for the fix! I came up with $2.63, but disappointed that there were no little red panties ;)

No kids' socks, but found bits and pieces of their rock collections.

  • OMG! Thank you so much for putting this on here. :0)

  • Thanks man. Fixed mine tonight in 15 minutes. Most helpful!!

  • You freakin rock! Housewife vs. Whirlpool Duet- Housewife 1, Duet 0!!! THANKS!

  • Thank you....I fixed this without a repair man or my old man :)

Pens...the culprits were ball point pens. 4 of them, now all broken inside. Nice.

  • DUDE THANK YOU!!!!!! I WAS FREAKING OUT TILL I SEEN THIS VIDEO AND I KNEW THAT HAD TO BE THE PROBLEM. I FOUND ALMOST 4 DOLLARS WORTH OF CHANGE, OLD BUCKLE FROM SOMETHING AND A SET OF KEYS I LOST ALMOST 2 YEARS AGO. YOU SAVED ME A BUTT LOAD OF MONEY.

  • Thanks for the vid, I fixed mine without having to pay $75 for a service call just to be embarrassed by just how easy a fix this is. My catch was not nearly as interesting as yours though.

  • F21 washer fix. I want to thank you for your video. got our washer fixed no problem.

  • Thanks for posting this video it was a on the top when I google searched my problem. I didn't have anything cool like a g-string or socks just about twenty bobby pins and about fifty cents in change, but did fix my problem.

  • Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Our culprit was a baby washcloth! So thankful to be able to save some $!!!!

  • This was soooo easy...except the part about finding the correct star head...it's a T20 for anyone who has already made 312 trips to the garage tool chest! Saved me about $130 for a service call! THANKS!

  • 2 condoms and a dollar

  • Thanks for showing me on how to fix my washer . I did while my husband was still at work you save me a service call.

  • Thanks for your help!

  • Thank You! Saved me a lot of money. Shame on whirlpool for not putting the info in the manual. This is my last whirlpool.

  • Well, the drain is clean and all I found was lint and more lint. Why did I not find any goodies?? LOL

Glad for the lint only thou.

  • Oh, thank you soooooooo much for your video. Hubby works out of town occas. and now I am able to see how to do this on my own, I'm about to clean the drain pipe on our washer - this could be interesting since we have pets!!! Yikes!!

Lol - will post again if I find any thing out of the ordinary!!

Lol - will post again if I find any thing out of the ordinary!!

  • Thank you sooooo much!! I have had my washer for 4 years and never knew that there was a filter to clean.

I just cleaned it out and found, 7 quarters, 8 dimes, 6 nickels, 20 pennies, 3 earrings, a fish hook (we dont even fish), a nail, a bolt, a fake ring, a safety pin, a zipper, a ciggerette butt, a stick, and several rocks. Now hopefully the washer starts draining, and just maybe our clothes will smell better!! So maybe it will be a win, win, win!!

  • Four earrings, a hair clip, two collar stays and 27 cents in change in mine. Thanks for the help!!!

  • WOW! You saved us a bundle! Our guidebook was inside also. Our clog was caused by 10 bobby pins and hair!

  • omg!!! thank you so much for posting this video! I went right to my Whirlpool and opened up the front and found that the drain cup was plugged with my kids plastic pellets, a ball marker and two huge balls of hair. I cleaned it out and it works! Thanks again so much!

  • Thank you! I found a pen (!), matchbook, earring, lots of lint and dog hair!

  • Thank You - Works Perfect Now - What a POOR Design that clearly made for a service call

  • Wow! I'm feeling smart for myself! My hubby was having a Happy Father's Day so I took it upon myself to try to sort this out. I did so! Successfully even! My culprit was 5 grody children socks. Does anyone else periodically find socks and random riff raff under the rubber seal just inside the door? I wonder if that stuff is somehow getting sucked into the drain if you don't clean it out after every wash! What a load of garbage - serious design flaw if you ask me!

  • @askvarna Yup I find our kids socks there all the time, they are usually soaked. I give 'em a squeeze and throw them with the rest of the load into the dryer. Someone told me to throw all the small stuff into a laundry bag prior to putting the stuff into the washer to avoid it getting stuck in the drain trap. I laughed at that suggestion & realized that person must not have kids because I sure don't have the time to sort through the laundry to find and bag all that small stuff.

  • Thank you.

  • Thanks a ton!!! My wife is impressed I actually repaired something without breaking it! You also saved me the cost of a repairman. No lingerie, the culprit was a sock.

  • @rod1961m FPSRussia - awesome vids. i came across them not too long ago. I gotta get me one of those shirts! (I piss Excellence) lol..... sock / lingerie not much difference in the amount of material involved.

  • K.. awesome video.. I cleaned the filter out and alla that. Fixed the problem.. however, only thing missing (for us folks who have ABSOLUTELY no idea how to do anything) is how to remove the cover from the washer. Finally I figured it out and that took longer than actually unclogging the drain LOL. When I removed it, there was a wash cloth, tookpick, cigarette butt, hair, nails (that you hammer, not the ones on your fingers) and a few other built up grossies.. Seriously. THANKS A MILLION!!!

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you! After we cleaned out the filter, we stil received the F21 error so we unclipped the motor on the right of the filter (creamish-clear) from the filter surrounding (white) by turning it to the left and found the remainder of the shredded pencil. Thank you, thank you for making time to make this video.

  • thank you for this post you saved me from a big headache and i found 38 cents! now i gotta figure out the f-28 code:(

  • @friotuber Did you not find the troubleshooting manual taped to the back of the cover you removed? All the codes are in that manual taped to the cover... if not I can tell you what the F-28 code is... but you'll have to wait 'cause I'm on my way out the door right now.... Later!!!

  • @heli400 i figured it out it was a little button on the back of the unit the bottom left hand corner (reset button) thanks again!

  • @friotuber awesome. your welcome

  • Oustanding (and hilarious) video... Guess how many lego's can fit in the trap? Give up?... 12.

  • Thank you!!! You saved me a repair bill I so could not afford right now. Thank you so much! Oh and my husband is thrilled because I found his gold nugget necklace in the trap, lol.

  • So three days of calling around and gettin prices to come look at it....or 5 minutes on you tube...THANK YOU! god i love you tube!

  • Thanks appreciate this video a bunch, definitely did the trick. The size of my ratchet that I had to use was 1/4". Lots of water though!

  • take a look also at the pump. I found some a metal ring blocking it

  • Thanks! Probably just saved us a bunch of money. That was exactly my problem.

  • dude, you just saved us about 150 bucks!!!! ty

  • how did you take off the front panel

  • @LOONZ83 There are 3 screws at the very bottom all face outwards from the front (from memory I believe they are 10mm in size) and depending what you have on the floor in front of the washer they could be difficult to access. on my washer the screw on the left was kinda pointing in a downward angle and made it difficult to access with my socket wrench, but I was still able to. Good luck!

  • YOU SAVED MY ASS THANK YOU SO MUCH btw i'm amazed at the shit i found thanks

  • Thanks for the video! I pulled 3 socks, a small dog's worth of hair, and 85 cents! Oh and I flooded my laundry room haha...there was a little more water coming out than I expected...

Still saved a ton compared to having a handyman come out to my house!

  • got $3:21 out of my trap ear rings a 3/8 wrench and a small penciel

  • I found some change, and alot of stuffing that used to be in my dog's toy turtle that I washed last week :) Thank you for posting this video, it helped alot!!!!!

  • Very well done. A History Check shows I have watched 1,242 youtube videos, that is certainly in the top ten. It is informative with just the necessary info; the video and audio are clear; and, best of all, it turns out to be hilarious.

I will share that with friends who do not care for or about washing machines.

    Thanks - Joe

  • LMAO I have to do this today...ill see what I get out of it ill reply with what I find =o

  • @308beatZ Find anything interesting?

  • @heli400 Found a sock, 2 quarters, 1 dime, 3 pennies, a earing, clothes tag, hair lol thats about it. Got about 2 gallons of water out too

  • Thanks for the video.

This is what I love most about youtube !!

    Can very very informational !!

    Thanks again.

  • You ROCK! While I only came out with $.26 cash - it saved money and time in getting a service tech out. Thanks!

  • THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!!! Thanks to you, we now have a functioning washing machine again - and are 79 cents richer!

  • @mayfly72 maybe even $81.79. The last guy that used this video said he was quoted $81 for the tech to just look at it !!!! and I'm guessing you pulled the 0.79 from the trap.

  • Thank you for the very helpful video.

  • Dude you are the best -Problem solved!!!

  • Thanks for the video! Works beautifully. Just fixed ours today.

  • thank you!!!! it worked perfect!

  • Cleaned ours today and found amongst a bunch of lint $3.10 (scored a twoonie), a Canadian flag pin, a headphone adapter and a USB stick--and it still works!

  • How did you get the washer open???

  • @ROADKNG1 there are 3 screws at the very bottom of the panel that is to be removed. one in the center and one on each side. they are hard to see and you'll have to get very low to the floor to see them. (sorry for the late response)

  • Hi. I am having the same issue. And Im thinking "thats where the socks are" makes sense now. Except that I can not figure out how to open the bottom. My hubby works far away please help. Also I cant get the door to unlock

  • @cntrylvns1 there are 3 screws at the very bottom of the panel that is to be removed. one in the center and one on each side. they are hard to see and you'll have to get very low to the floor to see them. (sorry for the late response)

  • @cntrylvns1 ....As to get the door to unlock. once you remove the bottom panel... taped to the inside is the troubleshooting guide. you may find your solution your door problem in the manual.

  • before i forget use a laundry bag for the small items like underware and chek you pockets coins are the worst lucky guy you did'nt a water pump after those coins get in there

  • next time tilt the machine and you wont wet that much water running to you floor

  • Thank you so much for posting this video. I would have never know how to fix it otherwise, I would had to have called a repair man.

  • haha THANK YOU!

no thong in our filter, but 3 socks, a quarter, three pennies and a pencil. HA!

  • Very helpful video, save me a trip from the repair man.............Thanks a bunch..

  • Thanks for the video. One piece of advice, you may need to actually remove the hose from the downstream side of the pump, in back and give the pump a spin. I had something jammed in the pump and it wasn't until I performed this process 2 times unsuccessfully that I stuck my finger down the outlet and got the impeller turning and the pump was able to work again.

One last thing, a large plastic garbage bag under the drain will avoid spillage.

  • I love how americans suddenly come up with these side loaders and theres huge problems with them! european ones dont get socks in them because the drum is too close the the seal, they cant get through.

As james dyson said "Solve the obvious problems, what ever it takes"

(not dissing american style front loaders, i love me LG!)

  • @iwatchfunny - Actually I've only had the two problems the F21 and the waterfall both easily fixed, and a lot of people complaining and not saying goods things about them too. I love my washer/dryer combo. It sure beats the old way. People are too busy just replacing things instead of learning how they work and fixing them (and they're usually easy fixes).

  • @heli400 my friends had a repair guy come round for there dishwasher. calcium got clogged inside, and he said there was no nope. then he said "can i try somthing" and they said yes. He kicked it really hard and it fixed it!! it dislogged the calcium clog!

No thats how you fix things, =)

  • @iwatchfunny Yup! and back in high school we got a VCR donated from a VCR repair shop and it had a note taped to the top from one of their service techs and it stated "ir-repairable fault". We opened it up found a blown fuse, replaced it and it worked fine! Needless to say it went under. Lol

  • Thanks for the video - it solved my problem and saved me a call to the service man. My Whirlpool Duet isn't the "Sport" model, but the resolution was the same.

I'd like to add another tip: I used a wet/dry vac to suck up the water, and was able to suck even more stuff out of the drain pipe that hadn't yet made it's way to the filter (mostly because the filter was jam packed with stuff - two pairs of socks, a golf tee, and a bunch of rubber that flaked off the back of a rug)...

  • @FrankBevalaqua Yeah I wish I had a wet/dry Vac! & Good Tip!

  • THANK YOU THANK YOU AFTER 7 MONTHS MY PROBLEM IS RESOLVED MERCI BEAUCOUP APRES 7 MOIS MON PROBLEME EST REGLE

  • THANK YOU!!!!!!!!! 2 young kids and washer stopping on laundry day? Disaster!!!! You saved us!!!!

  • Thank you!! You saved me a few bucks! I had ALOT of water come out, so I used a baking pan that was small enough to fit under the drain, but deep enough to capture the water. Towels under the pan helped prevent too much water from getting all over the floor when I had to dump the pan. Two buckets later, the water stopped coming out of the drain. In the drain, I found money, candy wrappers, and a plastic sandwich bag.

I am very grateful! I love to save money.

  • @sloshnsaybrook Everyone loves to save money!!!! Glad this was helpful to you. I hope more people load FIY & DIY videos onto youtube.

  • Wow. Thank you. I was freaking out about having to call the repairman until I found your video. I opened the drain and found 2 socks, a broken pencil, a piece of chain and 32 cents!!! And YUCK!!!

  • oh yeah, i found a sock and some lint, hehehe

    = )

  • Thanks a lot man, this video helped me out a lot and it was funny. That stupid instructions booklet was not much help. Thanks again! =D

  • Thanks for posting this video!!! I found a sock and toothpicks in mine, and now it runs like new.

  • Thanks for the video instructions. It was a HUGE help. I found all kinds of little goodies.

  • You are a LIFE SAVER! I just fixed my washer by following this video. I found a chain dog collar, money, a couple screws, part of a throw rug, and some bobby pins.

    Many thanks!!

  • THANKS! Just fixed my washer because of you! I think I will take all the change I found and go buy myself a diet coke!

  • Thanks for this tip...I'ved been ignoring my wife's complaints about 'sud' error and finally after 6 mos., the F21. She showed me your video, opened our duet and found 2 mismatched toddler socks, coins, ziplock bag and lint. Now, she can finish 1 load of wash in the normal 45 min time frame...which before it takes her almost 1.5 hrs. Thanks dude!

  • @pachec00 - Glad you were able to fix it! And.... Also note the troubleshooting manual is taped to that bottom panel. and hopefully you can fix any other error codes that may happen.

  • Did u fix finally

  • How in the hell did that clothing (even though small) get sucked out of the tub.....Glad u got it fixed.

  • @mark40511 I dunno, the wifey was super happy I fixed the washer, but not super happy that I didn't edit that part out ;) lol.

Actually: when we first got the washer we called a repair man in on warranty after only 8 months of owning it. One of our kids socks got caught in the rubber membrane between the door and the circular drum at approx the 10-11 o'clock position. and it caused the water to overfill in the soap compartment and we came home to a waterfall down the front of the washer!!!

  • Thanks as well! Whirpool ought to send you a small check for being their Virtual Service Man (You don't see their videos on the web!) Service is probably where they make their money..and aren't thinking about real customer service and satisfaction! Take care!

  • your a life saver thanks man
