Majorly under appreciated band. Andy is awesome!!!! Just goes to prove most people wouldn't know good music if it bit them on the ass. Jellyfish will always be one of my favorites.
As to why they didn't make it, ask yourself. Why didn't Jason Falkner write more of the tunes? Band politics and a control freak brought them down. You don't just quit after two albums if you believe in yourself.
So true! I worked for the record company when it was released, and never understood why radio didn't embrace them. Over the years....I came to the conclusion that they were ahead of their time!
This band is as talented as Queen,The Beatles, Supertramp, and every other legendary band out there! It just goes to show you where our industry standards are!
Truly one one the most under-rated! Spilt Milk Is A Masterpiece!!!!!
I wouldn't say they were underrated as much as just not around for long enough to become extremely popular. Bellybutton came out in 1990 didn't it?.. And they were disbanded in like 94 or 95. I first heard of them on MTV, and that was when MTV was actually still dedicated to playing music videos and not reality shows.
Way back when, I saw this band in Seattle (Ballard Firehouse maybe?? Can't really remember where...) and they were amazing--kind of Beatle-esque. This was the only song I'd heard prior as it had radio airplay, but every song they performed was super strong.
These guys are truly amazing just listen to the Fuck'in harmonies... No one has to sell me on jellyfish... The guys are awesome !!!! They needed more pub !!!! A lot of the music today SUCKS, big time .... When u think you got it figured out, you don't.. That is why..yy..y.y....y..y ... What a line !!
I am serious - why the fuck weren't these guys MASSIVE??!! I have both of their albums on CD. There is absolutely NO point whatsoever in me trying to sell this band to you... Just listen to the talent on display, and go figure. I love these guys! They should be on album #20 by now... \m/ (:o)
@klistarf because music markets are overloaded with good artists. There is only so much room at the top, so some fall by the wayside. I know hundreds of artists and tracks that are killer. Most people will never know about them...until the internet.
Such an awesome band. They should add all the views from the other "unauthorized" versions that have been removed. One of the most under-rated bands of all time.
I still listen to these masters almost everyday!!! and it just doesn't get old like the other crap done today!!!

I like Roger being Andy's echo there at the end. .sort of a first time glimpse of Roger singing rather prominent. What a duo!!!

Yeah, the image is horrible at best. The songs/songwriting are really really good! Great, underrated band for sure.

Bad marketing - in every way. Public perception of Jellyfish didn't match their output - hell even the songs on Bellybutton were in the wrong order!

Really? I didn't know that. What was the proper order?

Agreed, Andy and Rodger's compositions dare I say, rival those of John and Paul. Talent often goes unnoticed in favor of popularity. Sad indeed.
