If you are being strict about the defiontion of latino/hispica(as in the orginal european peoples) then the majority(about 75%) of people in 'latin america' cannot be called that beacuse they are in some way mixed.

for example alll cubans wheather white or black have african cultural traits as more african culture survived in the general cuban culture.

@mambomambo1 latinos are of southern european descent, in ancient times called the Roman Empire. we all know the romans spoke LATIN. the countries that used to make up the Roman empire Spain, Italy, France, and Portugal all have Latin derived languages. Some people of the americas are latino either because they are direct decedents of latin europeans or are mixed. but blacks, asians, indians and arabs in latin american have nothing latino in them

Intelligent man....I don't think a lot of people understand that concept. However in hispanic coutries the africans mixed a lot (mostly by rape butt that wasn't always the case) with the spaniards and indians so much to a point where there was a new nationality creative (mulatto) or whatever you want to believe while in US things worked out much differently.

@NyaS92 To add, without the impact of Africa is hispanic countries there would be no SALSA, MERENGUE and probably several more because that is where the root of that style of music came from, AFRICA. Salsa of course isn't all african it has it's indian and spaniard roots too. Old salsa you can hear the style of how spaniards played the guitar and the lyrical content often speaks about the gods of the africans or tainos.
