The US version of this Amicus classic is cut! However there is a nice quality fully uncut version that has been restored by the British Film Institute which is shown occasionally on UK TV.Hopefully some UK DVD company will give it a release sometime in the near future. And the guy in the video is wrong about The Texas Chainsaw Massacre in the UK, it's been available uncut there for years.

I take issue with your characterization of Vault of Horror being "vastly inferior" to Tales from the Crypt. The Tom Baker story was great, and the only story that really dreadful was the one with Terry-Thomas, which was more than offset by the others. But why was trailer on the DVD release in black and white?
Have you ever had the chance to read the original comics? I'll give the Amicus series its' due - they did a very good job of adapting the stories. Much better than the 80's HBO series "Tales From the Crypt", which tried MUCH TO HARD to be funny.
Yeah dude you didn't get scared because this generation of young people gets scared by stupid shit like a ghost in the closet or a guy with a gun in his hand or freakin' scooby doo reruns. Seriously, this generation of 2000s kids, sucks. And the movies theyre putting out all have tits blondes and their asses and that is not scary it is just sad. if you label it horror PORN then its ok, but at least let us know were going to the theatre to see the porn not an actual horror film.
Horror is a dead issue these days. You can get a little chill sometimes (The Ring gave me a few honest frights) but most horrors these days are so obsessed with CGI and shaky cam that it all looks fake and silly. The two Amicus films (Vault and Crypt) were excellent.
Um in the vault of horror why did they cut out VERY POORLY CUT OUT i might add, the scene where the spigget is in the guys neck in the vampire story...IT PISSED ME OFF! I bought it and freakin' they cut it!!!!!!
I saw the tales from the crypt movie about 15 years ago, I thought it was good but it did not scare me, guess the special effects were showing their age
I have mixed feelings on this. On the one hand, I was also pissed about Fox opting to use the censored print of VOH on the Midnite Movies DVD release, marring what would have otherwise been an awesome double feature. On the other, however, I was simply happy that this obscure classic had finally, after what seemed like an eternity of waiting, been released on DVD. Either way, fans of this film assuredly deserved better.
yep i was indeed unhappy with the region 1 release of vault of horror.the stupid censor with the tap out of his neck.this has recently been shown on english t.v completely un-censored,land of the free indeed...
