  • LOL i go there almost every single weekend....

  • 0:04

Off to a bad start, it is not renouned througout western Europe as an upscale shopping center.

You may know western Europe and have thought when you were there that there is nothing quite like The Ala Moana Center, any where else, but not vice versa.

Only one person in Europe, that I know, knows that The Ala Moana Center exists.

Some folk I know in New Sout Wales, have heard of it but that is all.(not renown)

    There are good-enough experiences closer.

    Cheers.

    from,

    del-boy.

  • @Call1800POO

    Dear Me,

You are absolutely right this is the best mall for many thousands of miles, specifically because it is litterally miles from anywhere else with a mall.

    .

Noumea is no good for shopping unless you want some hadicrafts made by local craftspersons.

Tahiti is no good either, anything you could get there that wasn't made there you could get in Paris or Anchorage (the ususal stop-over from la France). French but no Euros !

    .

Try Sydney, 5000 miles into the South Pacific.

  • I spend everyday at this mall. -___-

  • aw man. i'm feeling very homesick now.

  • some of the stores there are gone like stupid factory, sharper image, disneystore and more they also have the best food there in downtown. Hawaiian pride represent!!

  • When i was a little boy at age 8 my family always went there every weekend and holiday. I was an Air force brat living on Hickam from 1988 to 1992.

    GOD I MISS IT THERE!

  • @shiro80 dont worry, hawaii always welcomes you,,, alohaaaaaaaaaa~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  • I miss it there....T_T

  • I hear that

  • Well thank you kindly, glad you liked!

  • club rockza is around there! hahah i was there last nite!

  • man i was just here like 5 minutes ago lols

  • Any day that starts out there has got to end up WAY more pleasant than the day I'm going to have

  • I LIVE CLOSE THERE! WHOO HOO

  • That could be dangerous... I'd spend too much time and too much money!

  • How is it dangerous?! i dont live THAT close! And i dont go everyday

  • i wanna go back to honolulu!!! STUPID KAUAI DXX THERE ARE NO BUILDINGS HEREEEE!!! DX

  • I guess it depends on your perspective. I know many people on some of the islands like to make fun of Oahu as the "City Island". But me personally? I love the hustle and bustle of a good city, so I love Honolulu. Guess you would agree.

  • yuppers. i love oahu. and i'm looking forward to attending UH in four years :D

  • I thought your dad was like all Hawaii Pacific University?? XD

  • Im a city guy, but you also have world class beaches within an hour drive...that to me makes honolulu a great city to live in...now, I could only win lotto lol :)

  • MWAHAHA! I FOUND YOU! KNOW ME TOO! I'M GOING TO MISS THE STORESSSSSSSS! *cries* STPID 'NO DEVELOPMENT' LAWS ON KAUAI!

  • lol jasmine :P

  • Yes, I spent 3 years on Oahu. I vividly remember the Ala Moana shopping center. I shopped there often when I was there. 1984-1987 and I had fun every day of it. I lived in Kaneohe Bay.

  • So i guess i have to renounce my comment, all i was saying earlier- all i meant was that the dude mispronounced a name, some ppl overreacted.

    peace

  • ha but yah awesome video and if i do which i kinda dought if i ever find a show with a needed host i will surely no dought notify you first but thats if i find one and 1 more thing awesome video

  • yah iagree you should be one of those tv host you'd be great you have one of the best and one more thing i know someone real good kind of like a brother who still owns a shop there

  • Well thanks! If you know anyone who'd like to produce a travel show, I'd love to host one!!!

  • you have the best VOICE!

  • Really?!? Personally I always wished it was a bit deeper, but thank you!

  • Well, its been such a long time i have not been there,,, but it looks like it has changed alot.

  • I don't know how long it's been since you've visited, but certainly there have been significant expansion projects over the years I've been going

  • So i worked at the mall- fine vid over all but one thing, its not "Al-a" it "Allah' - like God in arabic "Allah" not al-a. if this makes sence good, if not write me

    peace

  • Sorry, are you referring to my pronounciation? Cause if you meant that literally I don't even know where to start with this

  • Ala Moana Center now has almost 300 stores, is the world's largest open air shopping center, and is currently the 12th largest Mall in the United States.

  • I went there today ;)

I just came home from Ala Moana mall, actually. (:

  • I'm pretty sure that means you're having a much better day than I am!

  • Hey, where's Patti's chinese kitchen! Best place to eat in the whole mall.

  • Refresh my memory, is that the place in the corner of the Makai Market (food court) where you walk your tray around a long line of food items and choose what you want?

  • That sounds like the place, though I'm not sure of the location. I lived in Oahu as a kid but haven't been there since.

I just remember the place always being crowded because the food was so good.

  • My family owned speedgear in ala moana

  • What's great about this is that you show some of the products in Shirokiya. I'm glad they allowed you to do that. Stores like that, you take for granted; but the moment you lose access to it, it makes you a bit nostalgic. I sure do miss it. Thanks for the upload.

Now for the next part, if you can film yourself purchasing some manju, and receiving change at the checkout counter, it'll make my virtual vacation complete. :)

  • Half the fun of Shirokiya is just figuring out what many of the products are! Particularly up on the second floor where the groceries are.

  • My mom use to take me there when I was a little kid. It was a fun place then, and it looks just as great now. Thanks for uploading this.

  • Sounds like a nice memory to have. Glad I was able to bring you back there

  • ala moana added many more stores since this was done. an entire new wing was recently added with big department store Nordstrom. I go there every month and I am surprised how it keeps changing.

  • Thanks so much for taking me back there. Wonderful memories of my Hawaiian holiday. I particularly like the food court

  • Ah yes, the Makai Market. There's a lot to like in there!

  • whats the difference of open air and closed air shopping mall

  • The difference is the corridors are open to the sky, so you can bask in the warm Hawaiian sun as you go from store to store. A closed mall would be completely covered by a ceiling.

  • thats me sitting down on the right talking on my phone 2:11 into the clip. i was on break from work

  • Er, surprise!?! I love that mall, and I think I'd certainly love being there every day
