From 4:03 to 4:42 I do believe that this is the same cycle that killed Not just Whitney Houston but Michael Jackson, Heath Ledger and Anna Nicole Smith also
pilman owen eddie and beniot are the only wrestlers to die while with the wwf so its not on vinnie and pilman is the only drug related death in the wwf
@truthspeakerism "Drugs and alcohol that'll do anyone in" Well, fortunately, one of my heroes, Jake Roberts is still alive. I don't care what anyone says, Jake should be in any wrestling HOF.
Ok, I would just like to point out that any professional wrestler that dies young because of a car accident, such as Junk Yard Dog, shouldn't be included in this discussion. Secondly, Brian Pillman had a heart defect that went undetected. He used drugs and alcohol as well so the fact that he survived to his mid 30's was impressive
@Misanthropyish Vince will make u kiss his ass if u call it a sport. He prefers Entertainment. I agree about the pay offs tho. But they can earn into the millions , so its not that bad. Id settle for that kind of cash and give up some rights. Like holidays and sick pay.
there's nothing like the roar of the crowd, it can hardly be replaced. I fought mma amateurs for two years and saw what it did to fellow competitors, friend and foe alike and luckily I was able to realize that it wasn't for me. After reaching wwe type success I guess you do what you have to do what you must to stay on top. All pro sport owners should establish a program for those who don't know how to handle the spoltlight to keep the atheletes from falling prey to certain evils....
i wounder if piper was messed up when he did the movie called they live he didnt look likr he was i love that movie but it wasnt untill i was older to understand what the movie was realy about and then i realy got to injoy it the ending was funny they should have made a they live part two with some how piper still alive and to see what the aftermath was with everyone knowing what was realy going on
nobody forced anybody to take cocaine steroids and to wrestle at all there is other jobs but they wrestled because they like the money so it's nobody's fault but there own if they die young.
@kf932009 Nobody forced them, but unless they fit a certain look and kept up with a certain schedule then Don Vinnie had no use for them-but I do not excuse the fact that many also took rec drugs and booze as well. but try to be fair and not a troll.
@wizardking1879 when back in the 70s? i knowen locals that made more i had a friend name greg and he was such a wwf fan that he him self join a school to learn how to wrestle and he would have been great but he was a junkie and he started hanging out with the other guys and going to there partys i whent with him onenight he was doing coke and drinking jack one of those partys took his life onenight his mother call and said he didnt come home and ask if i knew where he was and sure enough dead
@wizardking1879 at this one pricks house i hated this fucking guy he was the reason my friend got hooked in the first place he was laying on the floor face down and the people there were still partying thats how cranked at 11 in the morning i turn him over he was gone they all though he was sleeping his mother was crying i grabed my cell phone to call 911 and everyone took off even the owner of the house the prick said at first can you take his body back to his mothers and then call 911
@wizardking1879 he didnt want the cops at his house i punch his fucking face in and held him down as i was on the phone with 911 he didnt even care that greg was dead what a pice of shit right when the cops got there they knew the guy very well my friend greg looked up to him thinking this guy could help him make it big in wresting because he owned the wresiling school and said he had contacts with top guys my friend is dead and the owner and dealer is serving life behind bars on many counts
Many old-timers like John Tolos, Killer Kowalski, Lou Thesz, Gene Kiniski, Fred Blassie, The "Original" Sheik,....... had managed to live well into their 70's and 80's, and a few of them even lived into their 90's. Even wrestlers of the early 20th century like Joe Stecher, Ed "Strangler" Lewis, Tom Jenkins, George Hackenschmidt,.... had managed to live to ripe old ages.
So, what's the change in the lifestyle that has prevented many of today's superstars from living past the age of 50??
@shikat2371 More people overdosing. Or screwing themselves over the same drugs. If it wasn't for the bodybuilder image, it might have said a few people.
@lcamp1977 But they weren't aware of how hazardous their lifestyles was. Not to mention Wrestling was their only source of income, if they leave that what do they have left? It's all they've done their lives.
I'm a Wrestler, I'm 18. I Wrestled since 2003. I Haven't Drank, Did Drugs or Smoke. I'm Still Alive but Still Hurting, Am I Going to Die Before The Age of 45?
I can't help but make a comparison between today's professional wrestlers and the gladiators of Ancient Rome. In both cases, many died young. And in both cases, they attract large crowds willing to pay for this 'entertainment'.
How come many old-timers managed to live through their 70's, 80's, and even 90's while some of today's wrestlers die during their prime years??
Old-timers like Lou Thesz, John Tolos, Killer Kowalski, Verne Gagne (who is still alive), Fred Blassie, The "Original" Sheik, Gene Kiniski, Bronko Nagurski,........ had managed to enjoy their golden years before they died.
So, what's the difference between the lifestyles of the old-timers and the lifestyles of today's wrestlers??
Well, just watch the docus and read stories online about many of these guys we grew up with. Yes, its tragic and they all died too young, but they did nothing but pump themselves full of roids, prescription drugs and alcohol, even acid. Davey Boy and Dynamite Kid were the worst, and it's unreal that DK is still alive, though he basically in shambles right now, paralyzed and with one leg and heart problems. Taking falls like this for years, plus doping yourself to the gills = short life.
I have done backyard wrestling. Wrestling in general may give you an adrenaline rush, but when the adrenaline stops flowing, the pain sets in. I have done backyard wrestling for 5 years and I am in more pain now then when I was 19 years old. I can't handle wrestling anymore, my knees are in pain. So I understand the pain professional wrestlers go through, therefore I am about to retire. That's why promotions urge you not to wrestle at home.
But wait a minute wrestling is fake!!! Those deaths arent real. Wrestling is fake was a work. It was a psychological gimmick used to sell to parents to allow their children to watch. Which is why WWE is PG now because it wasnt as fake as it was portraying itself to be.
Wilkes at 5:08 is more accurate than Piper.. people fall prey to the lifestyle. Piper believes they fall prey to the promoters. If you listen to a lot of addicts talk, they sound like Piper, commonly regretting years of empty highs. Total personal choice. They fell prey to the lifestyle (Piper mentions the one night stands). That's on them. Not promoters.
That got damn devil vince fired piper for telling the truth and i am damn proud piper had balls to stand up for pro wrestling! Vince has more blood on his hands than a got damn butcher and he has destroyed pro wrestling people don't know he does steriods and cocaine! wrestling sucks n expect for tna! But the 80's it was at it's best and peak and will never be that great ever again!!
I hate, fucking HATE, that shit media scum does at 1:42 That over dramatized bullshit. God I hope I live to see the day where mainstream media personalities are lined up and fucking machine gunned, miraculously revived, and machine gunned again. I have other fantasies involving wood chippers and the giant sausage grinder from The Wall, but I'll keep them to myself.
I thought that was Shane Douglas, minus the whole "used to be successful" thing. I mean, he was working at Wal-Mart. Nothing wrong with that, it's just similar to the movie.
@MrAdrenaline1982 LOL it's not about sex. One night stand is carnie/wrestler lingo for one show in a particular city. 90 one night stands would mean he performed 90 days in a row, each in a different city. He wrestled every single night for 3 months straight without a day off.
I don't think marital affairs would've caused Piper to break his foot and have titanium in his hip. I don't think thats what the interviewer meant when he said, "They just ride you till you drop."
@spinnernetfan1 90 one night stands refer to one night in one town and on to the next. these were done without let up. tremendous demand on the body and mind.
@nexivdr I'm pretty sure it's sex. Remember Jake Roberts on Beyomd the Mat? He talked about how in the 80's they had so much sex on the road it pretty much killed his sex drive for his (now) ex-wife and he had to keep doing kinkier shit just to get it up.
You meant to say "And now Randy Savage! Rest in peace. You didn't capitalize his name. When you are referring to a person, you must capitalize their name at all times!!! Do it correctly next time!!!
See what I mean? You wrote "your dum". You might as well have added "That's D-U-M, dum!" I would have said "There's a B" and you probably would have started whacking your hands through the air saying "Get it away from me!! I hate bees!!"
@HoldOnToYourDream I got you Good, I intentionally left out the letter "B" and the other intentional mistake i made was saying "Your" instaed of "You're"

You didn't capitalize the start of either of your sentences and you didn't capitalize Roddy Piper's first name and you didn't spell "fucking" correctly and you started your second sentence saying "iwanna". It's "I want to" not "iwanna".
