Hey the new "ARCTIC" series is 1000mw blue laser, does that mean its almost ten times stronger than this laser or are blue lasers weaker or something.

The color of the laser only has to do with the frequency of the light being emitted. That being said, some frequencies ARE more readily absorbed, and green/blue lasers tend to be higher power and more dangerous.

Fr, Robert go to ebay search for laser diodes, they have a 1000mW 808nm diode available for $80 bucks the construction is simple but a little time consuming. for continuous use it will have to be heatsinked, or you could burn the diode, also you will need a good culminating lens assy also avail able on ebay....Search for low prices. Some items you can buy out rite with out bidding. Keep me updated on your progress

If you know where to go you can build a class IV semiconductor laser for about 100 bucks and it will produce 1000mW or one watt of optical power.....

Dude, Wicked Lasers is WAYYY over priced and they have sent out MANY under-powered units. Go with Novalasers, Optotronics, or LaserGlow for higher quality lasers while paying half the price of Wicked's. Their forum sucks too, it is communist and if you say ONE thing that is against WL, they ban you so they can brainwash their members.

Moral of story: Do NOT buy from the scam of WL!

I bought a CORE just for practicing before I got a powerfull laser from wickedlasers and I was amazed how the CORE was able to produce a beam at night. It is only 5 mW of power! Imagine a 100mW!

240mW is not possible in pen form. 175 is the max. Yours probably still burns good because of the amount of ir it is spewing. Don't tell me that i don't know what im talking about cause i do. Read about lasers on laserpointerforums dot com

Instant pop... you can actually see exactly when I trigger the laser. It's right after I say, "On this episode of gadget" --- It doesn't take all that much time for this laser to burn through!

Stay away from wicked lasers, they are extremely over priced and usually under powered. Check around on laserpointerforums dot com and you'll see that EVERYONE hates wicked lasers, go for nova lasers. Their lasers are much cheaper and usually overpowered.

Everytime I see one of these lasers I wonder why we don't see more criminals using these things while fleeing from the police. (i.e. Freeway chase) Especially with that dispersal cap that makes the beam into a spotlight, if they were to flash the laser right behind their car, wouldn't that blind the police?

I'm not advocating this, but I wonder how the police counter such a threat.

come agencies actually use something much like what your said, its a very powerful light that flshes, the beam is green and it looks much like a flashlight, its makes the person basically unable to react and disorientated.
