  • Man, hes perfect!!! these eyes, the hair, his smile, everything! All his movies!

  • Cruise is so hot here! before he turned into a weirdo.

  • why wasn't this critically acclaimed like all his others??

  • @roofrack101 Nice question , first of all it was cut by warner brothers so9mething like 25 or 30 minutes was cut out!! If you saw other Kubrick movies you know what a clockwork orange is , oryginaly eyes wide shut was sepsoe to be a bit like clockwork orange there were many scenes with Nicole being brainwashed , WB cut all that stuf out ebcose..IT IS ACTUALLY TRUE! And Kubrick died suddently too who know if they didnt kill him!!

  • @roofrack101 Well, it's not considered a classic, but here's the thing:

You can't blame Stanley Kubrick for making this movie if it's not good, because Stanley Kubrick died when this film was in post-production and Warner Bros. cut out about a half hour of the film that could have been the best parts of it. He died before its release, so it probably isn't completely what he wanted it to be.

  • EWS... my fsvorite movie.

I didn't catch this: Alice = a whore like those at the mansion because she is dropping her gown like them, and and bec. she is obviously a "kept woman" with no job and a "bought apt."

In opening scene it IS the same apt. & same hair style as the night of Zieglar's party, but diferrent decor, furnishings & sports equipment. Therefore, the same but different...what does that mean?

  • @verselove69 "opening scene it IS the same apt. & same hair style as the night of Zieglar's party, but diferrent decor, furnishings & sports equipment.what does that mean?"

Yes, it IS Alice´s apt. No trace of Bill Hartford tho. Heels on the floor, couple of tennis rackets and a giant pyramid symbol on the window made by the parted drapes, oh yeah and a bright lamp (same lamp we see in the foyer at the Somerton Estate). The question is: How could an art dealer afford a $5 milllion apt? Hmmm

  • hey! sky du mont!

  • Toller Film, der vom damaligen Pärchen Nicole Kidman und Tom Cruise lebt - phantastisch!

  • If you men only knew

  • un film magnifique

  • Tom Cruise's best profane performance, ever. Wonderful duo, character and story representation.

  • You've clearly never seen Magnolia

  • Nicole Kidman's best performance, along with "To Die For", "The Others", "Moulin Rouge" and "The Hours".

  • @fusock Nicols only preformence thata ctually means more that you culd exspect its not even fair for you to rate ehr in this movie ebcose all best scenes with her were cut out by WB i eman there was brainwash scenes with Nicole just think how good they wuld be

  • the song sounds awesome, anyone know the band and title of the song?

  • Chris Isaak - Baby Did a Bad Bad Thing

  • thank you very much!!!

  • I'm never conscious of the acting in 2001 or Barry Lyndon or Full Metla Jacket because it is in key with the fabric of the movie, but having Cruise and Kidman ended up being a big misfortune because they insist on acting, instead of existing in the film's own world.

  • Eyes Wide Shut has this jarring between the total dreamlike creation Kubrick has put on the screen and the unfortunate acting of Cruise and Kidman which is like it's in a different more ordinary movie. According to Lee Ermey, Kubrick said Eyes Wide Shut had been ruined by the interference of Cruise and Kidman, ie. not allowing him to do more than 30 takes of their scenes. Kubrick always did 80 plus takes to take the performance out of his actors. The acting here jars.

  • IS a dream!

  • The shot at 0:33 of Alice dropping her gown proves that she was at one point in her life also a "Sommerton Whore"...but got out.

  • Ummmmmmmmmmm..... no.

  • "Ummmmmmmmmmm..... no" - Cove

Uh, yeaaaah! Do you have any idea what this flick is REALLY about ? It ain´t a movie about "cheatin´" on yer wife. That´s fo´ sho´

  • Did I say it was? Just because Alice "dropped her down" doesn't prove anything. Stop speculating shit.

  • "Just because Alice "dropped her down"" - Cove

Dropped her "down" ? She got retarded kids or something ? Dude, I´m gonna sooo take you to school on this flick!

  • and i will be the one who takes u to school on this flick ;)

  • dude, your theories have no relovance. she is taking off a gown. this is not before she meets bill, and she was not a whore. because a. she is wearing her hair the EXACT SAME as the night she goes out with bill (it is the same night), b. the curtains are the same in other shots of her and bill's apt. and c. there are TWO tennis rackets leaning against the wall. what "Whore" has two tennis rackets just lying around....but what rich couple has two tennis rackets? lots

  • "she is wearing her hair the EXACT SAME as the night she goes out with bill (it is the same night)" - TRENT

It is NOT the same night. The room she´s undressing in is all messed up in the movie´s opening track shot. But Trent, I think you´ve hit upon something new...Her hair. Supposing I am correct, why would she be wearing the same do she wore when single ? Hmmmmmmmm....

  • No bro, it is not before she met bill. again same hair, same curtains and pillars (Same apt), and two tennis rackets(common rich couple). so this proving she wasnt single during this shot, she was never a whore, and when she smiles, she is thinking of the navy guy, not other guys she's supposedly been with.

  • "again same hair, same curtains and pillars (Same apt), and two tennis rackets" - TRENT

Yeah , but none of Bill´s crap lying around...Compare that scene to the opening steadi-cam shot. The apts a friggin mess.

  • ok.. but if she ever was a "Whore" than i highly doubt she would live in the EXACT SAME APT. haha

  • "i highly doubt she would live in the EXACT SAME APT" - Trent

Dude, the APT was OBVIOUSLY a gift! My guess : Szandor.

  • whoah! good observation!

  • lol I will be the one taking U to school on this flick ;)

  • This movie has some great scenes, especially mrs. Kidman's confessionscene with Tom's intense reaction. Unfortunately the ending contains too many words.. Not a typical Kubrick ending in my opinion..

    greetings from Holland

  • "I dont think people realize..."

    "Fuck."

    Futura.

    Futura Extra Bold.

The name of the typeface of the title design.

    Good night, and good luck!

  • Based on true story

  • i love this movie!

  • The film wasn't finished ... it was a rough cut given to WB ... none of the fantasy elements were included. Maybe 1 day his daughter or Frewin will allow us access to the scenes that didn't make it...

  • well it wasn't just a rough cut. yes, there was a bit more here-and-there editing to do, but it was done for the most part.

  • grande film...kubrick è sublime

  • the songs name is "baby did a bad thing - Chris Isaak"

  • Thank You:D

  • Whats the song?

  • awesome movie

  • Agreed! One of Kubricks best (highly underated), stylish trailer too.

  • agreed... underrated and misunderstood like a majority of his films :(

  • I REMEMBER THIS!!!! I used to love this trailer and thought to myself that this movie looked rather good. Of course I was 11 so I really couldn't watch it.

  • have you seen it now?

  • yeah

  • Such a great film
