I own the appleTV (2nd gen). I think it''s a matter of personal preference and what features you demand. If you want a full 1080p platform and media file access through USB then the appleTV is NOT for you. However, if you're already entrenched in the apple world with iTunes and/or iPad, iPod, iPhone, then you will find that the appleTV compliments very nicely. An excellent alternative to the appleTV is the Roku2.

Apple TV can give Google TV a run for its money? No. Jailbreak, or not. No. The Boxee Box is really a better device than Apple TV (jailbreaked), but I'd take Google TV over Boxee Box.

That said, it's cool that the Apple TV is getting some jailbreak love. Put some XBMC on there and you have a nice little box.

@coolfreak1mannan There are still loads of things that could be added to the Apple TV - Being able to download movies from iTunes just in case your Internet connection buggers up, an aluminium body instead of the black plastic body it has at the moment, Safari, compatibility with the Apple Bluetooth keyboard when they install Safari, the ability to connect to the LED Cinema Display, Bluetooth remote, a DVD drive and many more things that I can't be bothered to think of.
