It's been almost a year now, assuming you still have the 3.5 incher, how does it flip? I just got a 3.5 incher myself and it's pretty difficult to flip. Just want to see how long it'll take for me to break it in, hehe.
Well, I had to sell the 3.5" XM. I was never carrying it anyway because the 3" model fits me better. The 3.5" did start flipping better once I took it completely apart and reassembled after removing all the loctite from the threads on the pivot. The bead blast finish just doesn't seem to flip as well as a satin blade/tumbled blade and tumbled handles. The XM-24's I have handled flip really well too. ;)
My son has a Gerber Torch and it fires better than all the XMs I have handled.
I checked out a 3.5" XM18 flipper today and it flips open like crap and i've tried it with a few different adjustments of the pivot. Absolute crap flipper action !
The XM flippers aren't for everyone. If you just want a "flipper" go with an IKBS knife. The XMs are built for hard use and easy to field strip, clean, and put back together. Depending on my pivot adjustment, my 3" XM flips with no problems and is actually easier than some IKBS flippers I've used.
Hey bud, I've owned both and prefer the flipper. It probably doesn't flip like the IKBS flippers, but I don't want or need that. Mine flip great and I like having a finger guard for heavy cutting. Having said that, one of my next will hopefully be a 3" non flipper or a hellfire grind in any flavor!
@rico801 Thanks, Rick! I'm not sure why Youtube just now told me that you responded. I mean to get a 24 when I have the funds. I think a flipper would rock on that knife! A Hellfire, aye? That would be incredibly sweet!
Yeah, the iPhone is pretty trick. Film, edit, and upload in a matter of minutes. The difficult part is filming with one hand and trying to do knife tricks with the other. lol See you there!
I use CRK Florinated Grease on my XM-18 now it flips like an IKBS folder. That stuff is MAGIC!

Do you think a factory knife should go for a custom price ?

@GenKraid hey trevor! I'd say for a 3.5 definitely get a flipper. for a 3" it's a toss-up
