only jazz song i keep coming back to...love evrything it conjuers up. if anyone can point me in the way of similar please do as i'd like to be introduced to more of same. cheers
@Swaggs303 I'll stick to Blue Note-try McCoy Tyner's The Real McCoy; Freddie Hubbard-Blue Spirits; Booker Ervin-The In Between; Lee Morgan-Search For the New Land; Herbie Hancock-Maiden Voyage; Wayne Shorter-Schizophrenia and Speak No Evil; Andrew Hill-Point of Deparure-I could go on
@innervisions69 no please do go on. i checked out the others (couldnt find 'the real mccoy' or ') but werent for me. think one of the things like about this song is its not orientated or influenced towards or by any particular instrument...they all have their path and overlap/compliment. not a great horns fan so like the bass drums piano sliding through .. . but keep em coming dude :)
@Swaggs303 I now understand you are a rhythm section guy-I personally love the saxophone and the ability of the great ones to express emotion but rhythm section is an essential part -will keep my eyes out for stuff I think you'd like and gladly pass it on-
Uniquely american feeling here, similar to kind of blue, I imagine a dark pastoral scene so far removed from everything, the horn describes it like walt whitman says a verse, its hushed but its so open and inviting as well
stunning....

A classic -Joe Henderson amazingly soulful as usual-who could have known that Basra would be in the headlines

Musically, Pete's version is the best I've heard yet, BUT
Once you've heard Morgana King's version,
arranged exquisetly by Torrie Zito,
(Taste of Honey Album) ALL others will fall to 2'nd place. ~ Try it !

Rainy day at CMOA in the 'Burgh so i spent a little time surfing Ytube for hard-core jazz from the mid 60's.
My center in jazz.........mid 60's Blue Note.
Richard Davis, Elvin, Joe Henderson,

One of the bester version of such a beautiful song. I prefer La Roca's version of lazy afternoon to grant green version.
Both are lovely reditions
