@eugie73 There's plenty of performances where they sing live, especially in their later years. There is the V Power Live Taiwan mentioned above, and they also sang live at Viva Comet, and over the playback in several performances, I think Jimmy Kimmel was one of those.
Yeah they are lip singing but theres good reason for it, Yulia Had her voice ruined by There manger becuase she always sung to high bits and it ruined her voice she had to have an op and it made her voice go very rough but if you went to a conset they would sing some songs live :)

not at all, i was there when they were number 1 and The Music, Oasis & Sum41 all sung live. They also aired the performances, check The truth Has No Words
While they were under their old manager (The same guy that threatened to fire them if they didn't act like a couple), they were told to lip-sync or they'd be out of the buisness. It happens to a lot of musicians.
I know what it's like to have a sore voice after a long night and having to do it again the next night and yes, it's a pain in the ass but that's how it works. I'd never resort to lip synching and no artist ever should. If you play live, you give it your all, no matter what the circumstances. That's what passion is all about.
Meanwhile because these two pretend to be lesbians and are cute, they got all this money and attention for a song that was over produced and complimenting with countless live performances all done to a track.
It's a disgrace ot harworking musicians who write their own material, sing their own songs and still put on a great show for their fans.

I have stated numerous times. I love this song, it's a great song. What I don't like is how everyone drools all over them and think it's okay for them to lip synch. And it's not hard singing at all. The range isn't over the top or too high. It's right in the middle. If they had any kind of vocal talent, they'd be able to.

So what are you saying, it's okay because they "tour all the time?" Bullshit, man. THOUSANDS of bands break their balls every night with singers who sing their heart out in small bars and clubs for hours some times and they never resort and would never resort to lip synching.
I'm a solo act and I scream my balls out multiple times a week doing Alternative and Punk style tunes and I practice 2-3 hours a day every day. They don't even scream like that. So yes I assure you, I can do it.
Really,where is that interview I'd lke to see it. I also saw in an interview where they said that they're not lesbians, but just love each other. I guess that's what bi means for them.
And finally, I need to address a little confusion for you.
They ARE PLENTY of bands/singers who sound great live and some even better cause there's more emotion and power put into their voice live. TaTu shouldn't be "excused" for not sounding good live at all. Voices aren't ALWAYS altered on an album, unless it's cheap pop material marketed to sell to young kid and horny boys. That's over producing and is no excuse for their poor performance. Milli Vanilli got the boot, why not TaTu?
What's with all the lip-synching or not comments? Who cares at the end of the day. Most TOTP fans wanted to see their favourite artists performing and sounding exactly as they did on their records and not breathless and out of tune backed by live musicians. The programme was more about how performers looked visually more so than what they sounded like live. The show would never lasted as long as it did (42 years) and many notable performers over the years jumped at the chance of appearing on it.
No. There's a difference. Yeah okay, you're right. TOTP generally has people who lip sync and shit but if you watch any live performance of them, they're lip syncing. Every damned one I've seen that ranges from 2002-2004. I saw one performance where they didn't and they clearly sounded a lot worse.
So don't try to hide behind "TOTP USUALLY LIP SYNCS" because this is bullshit. It's a great song and all but lip syncing in anything is lame.
Only one problem. The Truth concert was in 2006. I said clearly anything I've ever SEEN from 2002-2004. Notice how I didn't say 2002 to 2006. And when did I say that TOTP doesn't get people to lip sync. I SAID they did. I added though that they have been shown lip syncing to many performances of this, not just TOTP. So, it's nothing to hid behind. And do tell me oh wise one, what "research" did you do that I so clearly have not?
Actually, since they ditched Ivan Shapovalov, they always sing live, and even when they didn't, they would often be singing along with the track rather than just lip-synching, and it made sense to have it since they did a lot of choerography (sp?) back then. OF COURSE they don't sound as good live. People's voices are altered a bit for album versions, and at one point, Yulia had probalems with her voice because of all the screaming she did.

I was under the impression that lip-synching meant just moving your lips along with the track...and that is not tricking their fans. Most people would be able to tell the difference, and anyway, what does it matter? They're pretending to sing sometimes...but to a track that has THEIR voices on.
Well then your impression was wrong. What do you think Lip Synching people do? Just move their mouth up and down and hope that people are convinced? Of course they would actually sing along with the track but you can't hear their voices and yes that is tricking their fans and cheating them out of a genuine live performance. Even if it is their own voices.
I care about this because there are plenty of good hardworking bands and singers who don't lip sync and bust their ass every night.
The dictionary definiton of lip-synch is "To move the lips in synchronization with recorded speech or song." Nothing about singing in there. Well, I don't think it matters if they lip-synch, as long as it's to their own voices, and they don't do that anymore, anyway. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.

In all fairness, they no longer lip-sync.
While they were under their old manager (The same guy that threatened to fire them if they didn't act like a couple), they were told to lip-sync or they'd be out of the buisness. It happens to a lot of musicians.

I know what it's like to have a sore voice after a long night and having to do it again the next night and yes, it's a pain in the ass but that's how it works. I'd never resort to lip synching and no artist ever should. If you play live, you give it your all, no matter what the circumstances. That's what passion is all about.

I have stated numerous times. I love this song, it's a great song. What I don't like is how everyone drools all over them and think it's okay for them to lip synch. And it's not hard singing at all. The range isn't over the top or too high. It's right in the middle. If they had any kind of vocal talent, they'd be able to.

So what are you saying, it's okay because they "tour all the time?" Bullshit, man. THOUSANDS of bands break their balls every night with singers who sing their heart out in small bars and clubs for hours some times and they never resort and would never resort to lip synching.
I'm a solo act and I scream my balls out multiple times a week doing Alternative and Punk style tunes and I practice 2-3 hours a day every day. They don't even scream like that. So yes I assure you, I can do it.

They ARE PLENTY of bands/singers who sound great live and some even better cause there's more emotion and power put into their voice live. TaTu shouldn't be "excused" for not sounding good live at all. Voices aren't ALWAYS altered on an album, unless it's cheap pop material marketed to sell to young kid and horny boys. That's over producing and is no excuse for their poor performance. Milli Vanilli got the boot, why not TaTu?

What's with all the lip-synching or not comments? Who cares at the end of the day. Most TOTP fans wanted to see their favourite artists performing and sounding exactly as they did on their records and not breathless and out of tune backed by live musicians. The programme was more about how performers looked visually more so than what they sounded like live. The show would never lasted as long as it did (42 years) and many notable performers over the years jumped at the chance of appearing on it.

No. There's a difference. Yeah okay, you're right. TOTP generally has people who lip sync and shit but if you watch any live performance of them, they're lip syncing. Every damned one I've seen that ranges from 2002-2004. I saw one performance where they didn't and they clearly sounded a lot worse.
So don't try to hide behind "TOTP USUALLY LIP SYNCS" because this is bullshit. It's a great song and all but lip syncing in anything is lame.

Only one problem. The Truth concert was in 2006. I said clearly anything I've ever SEEN from 2002-2004. Notice how I didn't say 2002 to 2006. And when did I say that TOTP doesn't get people to lip sync. I SAID they did. I added though that they have been shown lip syncing to many performances of this, not just TOTP. So, it's nothing to hid behind. And do tell me oh wise one, what "research" did you do that I so clearly have not?

Actually, since they ditched Ivan Shapovalov, they always sing live, and even when they didn't, they would often be singing along with the track rather than just lip-synching, and it made sense to have it since they did a lot of choerography (sp?) back then. OF COURSE they don't sound as good live. People's voices are altered a bit for album versions, and at one point, Yulia had probalems with her voice because of all the screaming she did.

I was under the impression that lip-synching meant just moving your lips along with the track...and that is not tricking their fans. Most people would be able to tell the difference, and anyway, what does it matter? They're pretending to sing sometimes...but to a track that has THEIR voices on.

Well then your impression was wrong. What do you think Lip Synching people do? Just move their mouth up and down and hope that people are convinced? Of course they would actually sing along with the track but you can't hear their voices and yes that is tricking their fans and cheating them out of a genuine live performance. Even if it is their own voices.
I care about this because there are plenty of good hardworking bands and singers who don't lip sync and bust their ass every night.

The dictionary definiton of lip-synch is "To move the lips in synchronization with recorded speech or song." Nothing about singing in there. Well, I don't think it matters if they lip-synch, as long as it's to their own voices, and they don't do that anymore, anyway. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.
