use a thermal protector/ heat protectant spray. ^^ It really helps all you have to do is put some in your hair just before you iron it, it also makes it easier to style/straighter and keeps the shape for a longer time if you add a bit of curvature, etc.

Although personally curly hair is much more beautiful then straight hair. :P

You are likely to burn yourself on any make of straightener. Personally I don't think its worth spending £100 on GHD's, especially when you could be buying fakes. Get the cheaper Remington ones and just be careful when you're using them!

don't dry your hair too much before straightening, there really should be steam coming off. imagine straightening your hair when it's got no moisture at all, it'll get ruined! so steam is a good sign.
