  • Hey... do those Harkonnen vehicles have BLUE markings? I thought the Harkonnen were Red in the Westwood games while Artredies were blue (in the novels its reversed; Harkonnen blue while the Artredies are red)

Ordos vehicles too... meh, minor detail.

  • Great Copy&Paste job  just look at the Worm Explosion and The NIAB Tanks all eactly the same ...

  • best house in the game

nothing can single handely take down a Devistator or for that matter usually 1 takes down 2 - 3 of the other houses best units

  • ... Having never played the games and only recently re-read the first novel, I must say: What... The fuck... Was that?

  • Oh, I think I get it now. The Spacing Guild tried to take a worm elsewhere and thus create another planet other than Dune that can produce the spice, and the final Harkonnen mission was simply to blow that worm-carrying spaceship up before launch, right? Quite clever. I really need to pick this game up some day.

  • @biowon No...The Spacing Guild's reason to create this is currently unknown, but at Elara's Quietus cutscene, its clear that The Spacing Guild representive and that Tleilaxu guy with a some other Spacing Guild mens were eaten by the worm.Because the representive said "We will all die,but the Emperor Worm, shall live,ON!" Hmm...SPACESHIP?You're crazy. He can carry himself! He has psychic powers from Elara dude!Elara got the power from the Water of Life...get the original Dune novel for more info.

  • @TheXeno2000 Which "Original Dune novel" do you mean?

  • @biowon Water of life.Get more info for water of life in the very first Dune novel from Frank Herbert.Maybe I should just post a link but youtube doens't allow me to.

  • @TheXeno2000 I do not remember anyone named Elara from the very first one, though the water of life is absolutely there. I haven't read the whole original series yet, let alone the (presumably terrible) ones by Frankie's son.

  • @biowon Yes,but what I was refering to is the Water of Life, not Elara. She maybe exists only in the game...

  • @TheXeno2000 Much like the Ordos, then?

  • @biowon What do you mean?Who is like the Ordos?

  • @biowon Elara, if she only exists in the games. The Ordos, as you might know already, aren't part of the book's canon.

  • @biowon The ones written by Frankie's son are based on a lot of notes Frankie wrote before he died and not much difference in writing style so they are pretty much equal quality.

  • @TheXeno2000 Shafla of Spacing Guild said: ''We will all die,but the Emperor Worm, shall live,ON!".

It's the reference to Leto II Atrides human-sandworm hybrid, near-immortal evil overlord.

'After Leto's death, as a result of years of their three thousand year imprisonment, the human race exploded outward into the universe, in an event known as the Scattering. Leto was forever remebered, and refered to as "The Tyrant", even unto the time when the human race returned from the Scattering''.

  • @Narania234 Why tyrant? :(

  • @TheXeno2000 Because he enslaved human race for 3,500 years. Many of the established people who existed at the start of his rule were either destroyed or significantly weakened, due to his draconian tactics and a monopoly on the Spice Melange. The Tyrant is the term by which Bene Gesserit and all other factions knew Leto II Atreides . Siona Corrino- Atreides killed him and she called him simply Worm. Hence Emperor Worm.

To almost all people in Dune universe he was known as The Tyrant.

  • i smashed this, just need six devastators and six advanced carry alls. lose two on the fly maybe and get four on the ground and then blow the worm up in about 30 seconds. total mission time about 10 - 15 minutes.

  • i think it would have been more epic if they hit it with the deathhand in the end

  • @MercXD

I think it would have been more epic if they used missile tanks instead of assault tanks.

  • 0:20 The guild unit was like "OH SHIT OH SHIT!!!" :D :D

  • The Devastators are my favorite units after the sardukar.

  • i dont understand why are they killing the poor wormy :L

  • cause it will kill everything

  • i would always rely on the fremen and sardaukar to win this battle - conventional forces of either side were never enough. the guild are way too strong on that map. ordos laser tanks in great numbers are effective because they can actually dodge enemy fire.

  • in the gameplay the tanks are so slow -.-

  • THE BEST ENDING OF ALL!!!! harkonnen keep on kicking it since dune: battle for arrakis (in that one they killed the emperor) and now they are dropping devastators on tanks!

  • Dropping Devastators directly onto the Navigators... They should have seen THAT one coming!

  • @intboom Nobody expected the air-dropped Devastator!!!

  • i love the destroyer!!xD

  • I used Buzzsaws and Flame Tanks, and deployed Inkvine Catapults on cliffs(lots of them). My defence seemed to be foolproof after that, then I started using the Tanks. Buzzsaws can't be leeched, tear up Contaminators and carry TWIN cannons. Worth cloning them in my opinion.

  • Hey one more thing. If anyone in here played Colony on armorgames, do these tanks remind you of chloride tanks, and the Devastators remind you of Grotitz, or whatever you call these douchebag robots there.

And also in Ordos side of the victory. The lazer look like hover tanks, and cobra units look like snipers....

    lol

  • Well tell you what. I wouldn't join Tielaxu. Their units seem to be so...useless. The contaminators look useless. I would rather ally with Ixians. They got better stuff than the Tieliaxu.

  • @UberGadriel

The Tleilaxu units are not useless. The computer players are not smart enough to remove leech spores, and human players will panic if their stuff are leeched or contaminated. The Contaminators can be stationed outside an enemy base, and enter when the buildings are destroyed. The Tleilaxu Leeches can convert other units, especially Harvesters, into more Leeches. You can easily destroy a Refinery with seven Leeches, provided they have cover. Leeches also make effective scouts.

  • Oh, the Harkonnen and their mushroom clouds...

  • Jump mechs? What is this, Starship Troopers?

  • No, they're dropped by Carryall.

  • If you look carefully at the carryall that carried the devastator, you will see it is not an advance carryall that was used ingame to transport vehicles. It looks more like the one that carries the harvester.

  • Too bad what they had turned the devastator to in this game. My favorite unit has been turned into a 3 legged big robot instead of the usual giant tank :(

  • especially the swinging ways the threesome moves--dumb!!

  • @zaho87 i like the mech version more.

  • I think the Ordos joined with the Guild and the Tleilaxu, because their army color was light blue and not green.

  • Ordos wouldn't join Tielaxu after the attack made by Tielaxu leaches and contaminators on Executrix. Ordos must have joined with house Ix cuz they were the best trade partners in my opinion.

  • @UberGadriel

The Tleilaxu claimed to have nothing to do with the malfunctioning experiments on Draconis IV. The Executrix accepted this to maintain their relationship with the Tleilaxu. The Commander can choose between House Ix and House Tleilaxu. Both can be chosen and allied with, but complications are inevitable.

  • i just made a good defence and then began to make a HUGA ARMY OF DEVESTATORS MHUHAHAHHAHAHHAH!!!!!

  • olso did that with multiplayer hahaha!

half of the map was coverd with them >:D!!!

  • NICE!

but don't forget the worms... :(

those badtards can take out anything!(except planes)

  • my army was to big for them. there came 3 big worms but i still had a army that took half of the map XD

espacially since i was still creating them.

  • Not bad, but those are painfully slow. I preffer gunships :)

  • If they're too slow use advanced carryalls with them but wach out for AA-s

  • They're painfully slow for me to let them walk even a feet - so carryalls may be used to deliver them to the battlefield but once there, they're still slow...

  • If they're in place they don't need to be fast cause the buildings can't move and the fast units can be taked out by their rocketlaunchers

  • You definitely got a point, but once you clear out one part of enemy base, you've got to move them further, and this is slow. And it's definitely not wise to put them into the center of the base, since they might get destroyed easily. But they're great to cause chaos and massive damage in one spot, no doubts :).

  • Yes you right :)

And there were an atreides mission whre you are swarmed with them and they destroyed your base with the self-destruct ther were 20-25 of them

Fortunatly you had an enginerring base on that mission

(if you like fast units you must be with ordos)

  • I think I recall that mission, it was fun :).

Yeah, Ordos units were fast, except for cobra, but cobra was a *great* replacement for turrets. I found Ordos campaign to be the easiest one, except for the last level (maybe because zergling strategy cannot work here :)).

  • yeah but the best thing in Emperor:battle for dune? ...

THE D KEY! XDXD now I before it I can't use the cobras' special abilitiy over a large number of them

yeah I on the last mission I used minotaurs (on the ATR side) and cobras (in the ordos side)

  • but I don't know how to beat that with HAR. they havent got a good alletry unit

the catapult is big piece of sh*t and the rocket tank's reload is too slow (and haven't got splash damage)

and those little ,,animals" at ordos are looks like the zergling

    Hide them in the water,

    without guard order! XD

  • I got you point - it was fun to create a squad of cobras, move them to required place and it anything got into your way, you just pressed D key and the problem was solved :).

Harkonnen - have you tried gunships? I used them as my main (or only) attack force when I was playing Harkonnen campaign. Always destroyed the tactical targets regardless of the loses and the other half was just a piece of cake. But I admit it was difficult to defend yourself as Harkonnen - gun turrets were the best option.

  • This strategie needs lots of power and helipads (but it sounds great)

    Didn't you expand?

    Did you?

  • An other guy said:You need 3 self-destructs up to destroy the Emperor Worm. (with devastator)

  • I admit you need at least 2/3 helipads to gunships for this strategy to be working smooth enough, and also still be producing more gunship to compensate the losses on the fly (how poetic).

I didn't expand at all, it was waste of time for me. But I took over that Guild cannon once, it was really fun.

I haven't tried to destroy the Worm using devastators ever, but it takes >20 Ixian infiltrators to destroy it. Maybe because - unlike the Devastator - they doesn't have nuclear reactor embedded. :)

  • :)

The guild cannon I don't know why you used it when I'm captured it I just wasted my time because it caused smaller damage than 1 gunner infantry and the enemy swarmed that outpost in no time

    (Do you like Starcraft2?)

  • Why? Just for fun and curiosity. The only positive side of having it was it's range :-).

Yes, I like SC2, but my notebook isn't powerful enough to run it. But I'm going to get a new one this year probably.

  • They haven't got relase date so I think wait until the blizz relase the game

(but if you have other reasons too thats okay)

  • Is that the Guild NIAB Tank that teleports?

What is NIAB stands for? Navigator In A Bathub?

  • Close, it stands for Navigator in a Bottle.

  • We-agree-with-your-suggestion XD

    Devastator: THEY'RE COMING WITH MEEEE!!!!

  • or the other MUHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHA

  • lmao

  • the devastator kinda looks like metal gear rex... w/out the railgun...

  • yeah lol, maybe Otacon designed it based on the Devestator

  • Comment removed

  • IF they want to continue making Dune game...

  • Heheh i remember the final mission. I played the atreides, used a bunch of fremen, i went stealth and jumped all over the worm. It was a good luck, i finished it so fast, i played it again.

  • Devastator:

    OPEN FIRE, ALL WEAPONS !!

  • WEAPONS TO MAXIMUM !!!

  • Devastator: Devastation Time!

  • Also Devastator: Radiation level high :)

  • also, Devastator : Radition? huh, watever

  • Ha dropping the Devastators was awesome. :p

  • House Harkonnen rules the imperium. All knows that. I like the moment of Devastator's drooping. The poorly of the Guild never seen something better than it. Uhhhh... smithdanger. Have you seen somtime the self-destruct of a elite devastator. You need 3 self-destructs up to destroy the Emperor Worm.

  • best ending video of the 3. hey spacing guild, you think your guild tanks own the battlefield? well, then you've obviously never met the devastator before =D

  • i really want this game back on my PC.

BTW, isn't there a dune movie?

  • one movie (an old crappy one), and 2 good miniseries

  • nice vid. btw. I have a problem: I can hear the sound from the cutscenes but I have a black display. any ideas?

  • I find it funny that Westwood resorts to so many walkers.

Mammoth tank --> Mammoth Mk II (walker)

Devastator (dune 2000) --> Devastator (walker)

Time to tech up men! WALKERS!

  • Walkers can walk over the enemy dead bodies!!! :PpPPPpP

btw i love the Devastators in emperor ;]]

  • thanks for uploading all these videos smithdanger, sure bring back memories :)

  • I use a brigade of Fremen Fredakin to infiltrate the defenses un-noticed, then rain sonic-death on the blasted Worm and it's pesky Meag-Cannon.

  • hopefully they make a new DUNE after they make Kane's Wrath and Red Alert 3

  • Actually, you begin the game with 3 elite devastators. All you need to do is to build three advanced carrier and tansport those devastators to the emperor worm directly. All three houses can do this way such as ordos' Cobra.

  • Exactly!

  • The atreides is overpowered in this sense, I mean the sonic tank only needs 3 shots to destroy the worm! How imbalanced D:

  • the person that controls the worm controls the spices therefore atreides owns all

  • That's the worm for?

  • That's a good way to win. If you get as many Devs out to the worm as fast as you can, it's easy pickins

  • So very true also with the air dropped devastartors. I won this mission by playing deffence till I had built up six of those baybes and the advanced crayalls for them. I flew them across the map and even as my base was getting whiped out I dropped the five of them that survvied right next to the Emperor Worm and they took it out.

  • This is way better then the Atredies version.

  • Devastators are so badass.
