What about volume and clarity? Check out my video. I play about three to four times higher off of the drum while playing twenty to thirty beats faster. The benefits of the Moeller Method.
that is a strange comment....bouncing is the physical explanation of percussion...off course I'm bouncing the stick (two times each end)....just listen to the quality of the double stroke roll, and comment. If you don't use enough wrist, the second note of the double is weaker,is it?
but, dude, that was reeally sloppy. i can't play tht fast, and won't pretend i can, but you actually have to have good technique dude. I can see your arms tenseing like mad. That is bad technique. Impressed with the stamina though.
Yeah, that's fuckin crazy! :D... we cannot say we're not jealous of his record.. cos he's also so nice in drumming, not of course just the fastest.. and in his patterns,i calculated just now, with speed 1400(and of course he can go faster if FOR A MINUTE he played at1400) he can play 32ths at 175!! ^^you can imagine how it sounds LOOOL GREAT TIM!
now seeing as how mike miangi can do more with a single stroke roll i am thruroughly amazed. i had to idea he was going that fast
plopenstien 3 years ago
He goes amazingly fast, that's sure.
But I'm more impressed with tom grosset clarity.
Now,single and a double roll don't have the same musical signification and use in context.
Solomoreno is right a double stroke roll is about volume, clarity and speed.
stefdave 3 years ago
indeed. but i was mearly pointing out how fucking fast mike must go to get a higher count using a slower technique

Man you're TENSE! I suggest you go practise the freestroke and try getting your doubles perfect at 60 bmp

thats basically what a double stroke roll is.
if your using your wrist your doing it wrong.
it will also take you longer to develop speed if you use your wrist.

hes bouncing...he should be doing it freehand.....thats pretty elementary if you ask me.
RegalTipDrummer 4 years ago
That is amazing, you are an awesome drummer. You should be pround of yourself.

it's called a fulcrum push-- he's doing it right. fingers are more for push-pull, which are useless at this speed
brainfartcc 4 years ago
yeah dude, as far as smoothness goes and whatnot, it's great, but learn to relax and use your fingers, that looked painful

Very sloppy. Less arm movement, more wrist work, and you'll develop the muscles to take you further. Nice stamina tho.

thats not a double thats a single!

I think the less this Cheemoo guy comments, the better. He doesn't know what he's talking about. Great as always stefdave.

I've seen some people that are really good with heel toe do something similar, I doubt it's as fast though.
Pretty cool though.
lebensraum 5 years ago
tim waterson could do 1429 at wfd with heel toe,man... faster of course, but it's tim! =)
KillerDrummer88 5 years ago
Really? Werd, that's insane.
Most of the latest heel-toe videos I've seen are of "normal guys", not going as fast as Tim, but still pretty impressive.
