Another comment here said it sounds like a bass thats 'Quadruple the cost'...
I wouldn't go that far, but pretty close.
I could have purchased any bass in the store up to $2,800... not what I wanted to do but had the ability...
Tried almost a dozen dif' models, 4 dif' brands... this one just won hands down on the 'Feels right, looks right & plays like I'd owned it for ever & then some'
Not many bass guitars out there that can do all the above & be under $900.
I just purchased one of these on Friday (November 4th 2011) along with a Line6 Lowdown Pro 300 (300wt Combo) & the 'Shortboard' for the combo...
Have to say that it's the best $399 I have paid on a bass, well, they wanted $399, I got the Bass, Combo, footboard, strap, 'Monster Cable' for Bass, a drum head & a few pairs of sticks for just under $1,100 exact...
(SCORE...)
This Bass (mine, Yours, anybody who owns the same SDGR) sounds too good, way too good for under $400...
I play metal, and I like my bass to have a clean, deep sound, can you make this bass sound clean on all strings with minimal "string shaking sound" if you know what I mean
@MonkeysOnRiot I think this bass may be lacking just a little in the low end department as far as metal bass is concerned. I'd look into an SRX model. They're quite a bit heavier, have more low end EQ options, have massive bridges and they may have an extended scale length. The bridge on this guy isn't anything incredible.
hey im getting the sra 500 next month. this weekend i went to hot licks and that another store like guitar center and thats where i played it and thats the basss im going to get. its a very nice bass. Right now i have a fender precision bass and it is too boxy and thats why i love ibanezs... they are so light and amazing.
@xXBASSISTXx1 They're HZ's but yes, EMG nonetheless. To replace the battery on this thing, flip open the hatch and the battery is right there, no unscrewing or anything. The Ibanez I bought in '03 takes about five minutes and a screwdriver to change out. This one, 20 seconds.
damn thats awesome lol. does this thing produce lots of differents sounds? like is it great for metal and hard rock? clearly its good for slap and pop as u showed. but i would like to know if it is any good for metal.
I wouldn't say there are a ton of tone options as there is just a tone knob and an EQ boost, but I think it's good for all genres. Bright highs up on the fretboard and deep lows for the heavy stuff. I ran the bass direct for the video but I use the Boss LMB-3 to get the best sound. I'm also using the popular Ampeg BA115 amp so nothing used is high dollar stuff. I think Ibanez caters to the metal heads but they market their SRX series for the metal guys like Shadows Fall and Killswitch.

I just played one of these at guitar center. It's a $400 bass that plays like it should be quadruple that. Only if I was $400 richer. :l

Hey man, What amp do you use? Just out of curiosity..
V3xify 1 year ago
@V3xify It's an Ampeg BA115. Nice sound, hisses quite a bit, even with no volume.

@toiletfarm I had the same amp bro, did the same backround hiss.
As for that bass, that sounds spectacular.
