Wow I first saw this in 1984,it was shown before the film 1984.Never forgot the film but did forget the name.My daughter is doing a piece on 1984 for AS Level, told her about this short and she found it for me !!!

A marvelous little masterpiece! My daughter who is 31 asked me whether I remembered this great cartoon which we watched together when she was little - particularly the pedalling. Using the law of nature that it was bound to be on You Tube we are now enjoying transports of nostalgic delight. A million thanks for uploading it and a million thanks to the creators.

Sky Whales haunted me when i was little, I remember having nightmares about falling down the roots like at the end.

I saw this on Channel 4 once when I was 10 and have never forgotten it! My father died soon afterwards and It has haunted me ever since.

I've never forgotten this haunting little cartoon since I first saw it decades ago in one of the old "Tournee of Animation" art house films. For a long time I couldn't find it because I thought the title was "Air Whales", and a whole other set of stuff comes up in a search! I'm glad to see you posed a nice, sharp, high-contrast version of this film... it looks like the other more-viewed version on Youtube may be a rip from videotape, and is more washed out with some video glitches. Thanks!
