  • Jennifer Rush has a great version of the song sung in German

  • I have loved this song since I was a child. It is so beautiful, Judy is so talented.

  • I'm searching things on Judy Kuhn. Wanted to hear her sing Colors of the Wind. Watch this video when I see a horde of people in the video's stills who are my colleagues at the College of Social Science at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Wonder if the person who uploaded this got there permission.

  • it's really not about who sings the song better. the message make it beautiful.

  • Vanessa Williams version is better.

  • This is good but Lea Salonga's song much better..

  • This is definitely the best version of the song! Well done Judy! The movie is sooooo perfect and good!

  • like Ms Kuhn Ms Williams is also an extrordinary artist.Thank God thay we occupy this planet at a time that lets us enjoy and appreciate both of them !!!!!!!

  • iTunes?

  • AWW Pocahontas kind of remind me of the late Selena who was murdered. R.I.P

  • 100th Comment : D - but srsly... i tingle when i hear this...

  • "Colors of the Wind" by composer Alan Menken and lyricist Stephen Schwartz was the 1995 Oscar-winner for Best Original Song from the Disney animated feature film Pocahontas.

  • @kuroigetsu Doesn't take much to look at the photo --- tells you who wrote the music and the lyrics, does it? :)

  • Of course, THIS IS THE VERSION of this song---vanessa williams just messes it up!

  • wait, kuhn ALSO did this voice? wow, she really is under-rated!!! i've always loved her from chess, but YouTube has allowed me to really hear her other work. again, very under-rated singer, and very beautiful as a woman.

  • clips are funny

  • of all people judy kuhn is my personal favorite. vanessa hudgens ruined this song

  • *have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon* i was half expecting a corn to come up *_*

  • From 1:1 to 1:07 were nothing but asians and whites...what about everybody else?

  • Has a life! (Fox appears) Has a spirit! (Zoom in fox) Has a naaaame. (Zoom in more)

Hahahah I don't know why I found that funny but...I did.

  • I love almost all Disney films but this might be my favorite =) just to name 1 of the reasons is this epic music

  • No one can beat her version... :) NO ONE. ;p

  • Nicely done. Judy Kuhn is incredible. She evokes such emotion.

  • "You think the only people who are people/ Are the people who look and think like you"

We get it. Whitie's racist. Can we tell a story now?

  • Written by: Alan Menken;

  • she has the most gorgeous voice. hope to be as good as her!

  • this song is so beautiful

  • what an awesome unique voice. love you judy

  • i like this version alot!!!

  • she is the orginal which makes her from the start the best, and second she sings it the best period.

  • I prefer her version! I just can't hear what Vanessa Williams does to this song ... it's cruel!

  • @schnurps45711 I hear you. I sang this song to Cindy Sawchuck's cat,Squidward when he was a little kitten. It was a cat lullaby to him. It helped him sleep.

  • fuck vanessa williams! this is beauty

  • She has a beautiful, classically trained voice, but I still prefer the arrangement and Vanessa William's version.

  • Judy Kuhn is the BEST singer of the song!

  • totally agree. I don't know how to describe it better but her voice is so clear and her pronunciation so clean - and still she maintains that very very slight rasp to her voice...

  • @soulfanatiko She sure is! I also sang this song to my Inclusion teacher's cat, Squidward when he was a little feral kitten. It was like a kitten lullaby to him.

  • @soulfanatiko I like Polish version sung by Edyta Gorniak more. It sounds more dynamic. You can find it under Polish name: "Kolorowy wiatr". I think it is worth to compare :)

  • @soulfanatiko That's because she play Pocahontas in the movie.. lol but she did a fabulous job :)

  • @soulfanatiko Edyta Górniak (Polish Version) is good too ;)

  • one of the last few full ochestra pieces we'll see in the movies..movie producers just dont do this anymore

  • goosebumps....

  • dang I still get tingles down my spine when she sings the 'How high does a sycamore grow...' line

    she's incredible

  • agreed judy sang this n the movie she has a mure ethnic voice than lea

  • what a lyrics!

    what a voice!!

  • super nice.....

  • Venn diagram...haha.

  • lmao@ venn diagram.

  • The slideshow is absolutely hilarious. I LOVED the venn diagram to show connectivity.

  • nope. it was Judy. Lea did a nice version after the fact though.

  • wrong... it was Judy.

  • Look at Wikipedia...Judy Kuhn sang it

  • no she didn't. i'm filipino, lea just performed it once. judy was the one in the movie.

  • in the first picture, there is something not quite right about her right eye :S

Love this song, is it the one from the film??

  • argghhhh i want the film version

    is this it?

  • Yes, but there is another one with the video material. Search for Pocahontas - colors of the wind.

That is , if you haven't found it yet :).

  • I noticed there are different versions of this song but who is the original writer of this song? who actually wrote the lyrics?

  • I believe it was written for the movie Pocahontas first. And I know Judy Kuhn sang it for the movie, but I don't know who was the actual writer of the song.

    Sorry I'm no help. =]

  • I do prefer Vanessa Williams(NOT ANN HUDGENS) version of the song though..

  • @luvanimals11 Didn't Lea Sologna sang for the movie? But the ending song "Colours of the wind" was song Judy Kuhn is the original singer...

    Bah D:

  • @luvanimals11 alan menken wrote the music and stephen schwarz wrote the lyrics. Alan menken is like...Disney legend.

  • the actual writer is Allen Menken

  • I thought Stephen Schwartz wrote this one?

  • He did write it :D

  • @keohal85

    Written by: Alan Menken;

  • @keohal85 The Song was written by Stephen Schwartz and Alan Menkin:)

    x

  • @keohal85 It was written by Alan Menken (music) and Stephen Schwartz (lyrics).

  • @keohal85 Music by Alan Menken, Stephen Schwartz wrote the lyrics

That was a good question, I never thought about giving credit or attention to the creators of this great song; I thought of it as a "Disney" song.

  • @keohal85 I know that the person who wrote the lyrics is Stephen Schwartz, but I can't remember who wrote the music

  • Comment removed

  • @keohal85 Alan Menken wrote the music. He wrote most of the Disney songs. And it was written for Pocahontas originally.

  • @keohal85 Music: Alan Menken , Lyrics: Stephen Schwartz. :]

  • @keohal85 "COLORS OF THE WIND" WAS THE THEME MUSIC FOR THE 1995 WALT DISNEY FILM "POCAHANTAS." VANESSA WILLIAMS RECORDED THE SONG FOR THE MOVIE.

    ALAN MENKEN WROTE THE MUSIC.

    STEPHEN SCHWATZ WROTE THE LYRICS.

  • my favorite song, always!

and thanks for the pictures, they are beautiful

at last now i know the name of the singer i've admired for a long long time

i'll remember her name, Judy Kuhn

  • This song is beautiful and so true, I get chills when I hear it.

  • So much better than Vanessa Hudgen.

  • Do you mean Vanessa Williams? Does Vanessa Hudgen even sing this?

  • I don't believe Williams sings this. The girl from 'High School Musical' or whatever it's called does.

  • No, Vanessa Williams (of Ugly Betty) definitely sings the pop version that was released with the film, I just didn't realize that Vanessa Hudgen did too. Cool cool

  • Vanessa Williams sang this song for the end credits of the film.

  • Aw yes, Disney when it wasn't junk, I want those days back! they were were my childhood days

  • lol yes disney has turned into junk and i miss those days. im so happy im not the only one that thinks so xP

  • This song is so touching. I feel like there's much more to it than just words. I am truly happy that Judy Kuhn got to sing it. When I see the bobcat I want to hug it when I see a tree cut down I feel like crying inside. I take that so emotionally.

  • wow amazing

  • i really love this song!!! it's so pretty

  • I love the soundtrack from this movie. It's great. It's a bit disheartening though, after you learn that this isn't an accurate depiction of Native Americans. Then again, this is Disney, so moving on!

  • Good job. Creative slideshow. :)

  • Way better than Vanessa Hudgens's version of this song!

  • duh

  • DDDDUUUUUUHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!
