@bnz500 Wrong, turbo's take a lot more finesse to drive, especially off the line. Max torque hits over a large rev range so you need a lot more throttle control to keep traction. Torque builds up gradually in a V8, which is why turbo cars (e.g. XR6T) are quicker than V8s (e.g. SSV) even though both have 270KW and ~530NM max power and torque. The Turbo can access it's max torque a lot earlier than the V8, where u just floor it and the torque gradually increases as revs increase.
@bnz500 what a joke I6 turbo will smash off the line quicker than most if not all v8s only thing with 6s is you start pinging around 180-200kms while the v8 keeps powering on
@TasteMyDBolts dunno where you got that last bit of info from but i've had mine at 220km/h and no pinging, you may need to see another tuner if your car is pinging like that, or do you not actually own one and are going off second hand info? and most of the v8's i've raced have had me off the start due to almost instant torque and a 4spd auto whereas mine is a 6spd manual so 1st is really short, once i'm in 2nd it's game over though.
As stated before it's a bit of poor wording on my part, but most people call it turbo lag anyway. This video actually shows boost threshold, i started in second as first gear is to short to demonstrate this.
@xr6turbo82 my friend had an XR6 turbo, said it was a great car to drive.. whats it like to live with. mind you im not a fan of these big angry holden and ford muscle cars so i dont really know much about them
@galbmw they are a great car for a daily driver, my ute has 326rwkw but you can cruise around off boost and it's tame as, once you put the boot in she kicks out the ass end and before you know it you are traveling along at a great rate of knots. Much fun I highly recommend it, LOL.
@GS315ish so its a fun and easy car to drive. damn i kinda prefer hard tight heavy feel cars haha. pretty much road going race cars with heavy cxlutches and steering wheels
@galbmw it does have a heavy clutch and the steering is quite precise, but i have coil-overs and sway bar on the front and adjustable dampeners on the rear with heavy duty springs. so for a ute it's pretty well a road going race car. the sedans have independent rears and are quite nice to drive as well. as I said much fun and highly recommended

@HighPerformance7uner 2011 bmw 335i makes 300lb/ft tq at 1200rpm. the acceleration is linear. (and its turbo). im guessing starting in 2nd gear will NOT be as dreadful as this
Yeah lack of traction sucks my xr6t has 342.5rwkw and spins the wheels hard in first and second lol it sucks would a bit quicker if it didnt.
It snaps up 60km/h so quick then spins the wheels for almost like a half second before changing to 2nd and it then snaps up to 100 with more squealing haha, doesn't help that it's a manual, good fun but.
yeah sucks but i now have 2 tunes to stop that, it's putting out 350rwkw now. First tune that ramps the boost up slowly like a supercharger and one that comes on hard like normal. I had a video up here for a while of it breaking traction doing a 3rd gear roll on but took it off for the po po.

hey buddy sucks doesn't it!! i got a bf turbo ute running 410 kws on the rear wheels, because of being so light and big loss of traction my car is the same. it hurts when a little ralliart mitsubishi colt lines you up and pulls away first lol... i guess it was tuned that way. but i must say i like the shift/throtle lights you got going.... where did ya get them from??
this has fuck all to do with turbo lag.

hate to contradict you but this isn't turbo lag. being in the wrong gear especially low revs your car will not perform. regardless of induction type.

What's wrong with that - seems fairly fast to me for 2nd gear. Certainly very little turbo lag.
urbex2007 1 year ago
and thats why i'd supercharge that car. sure you're making less power than a turbo, but it comes INSTANTLY! no lag!

the shift light is a Ecliptech Shift Indicators "Shift-I" from
