  • Gambale looks like a boss this entire video.

  • 2:13 no words Needed!

  • year? DVD title? VHS title? more details please!

  • Good old Dave Weckl!!

  • From 2:34 to about 3:22, Frank Gambale OWNS the band. Even Pattitucci is grooving. Look at Chick's mickey mouse smile.

  • Man, Patitucci is a beast.

  • 4:25 - John Patitucci's epic face

  • 2:00 Dave Weckl playing matched grip + open-handed; What's going on!? :O

  • When I first got to Germany,I used to listen to this album riding down the autobahn doing 130 in a 730i BMW. Fun times!

  • Это Супер!!!)))

  • at 3:07 Pacman Noise ??

  • Hi Mickey!

  • john patitucci is amazing at 4:25

  • I went to one of his concerts quite a few years ago when he had the base player John Patitucci and I was just blown away! I really enjoyed it tremendously!

  • Sweet progression during 1:40-1:53.

  • @JonP1961 It's: #V-V-bVI-bVIIsus (alternating suspended4th, major 3rd and suspended 2nd)-I

Interesting to note they are all major chords, this is called constant structures.

The whole progression starts at 1:30 and goes like this: F-Ab-A-B-C-Db-Ebsus-F

Chick Rocks it as hard as it can be rocked.

  • @proghome

Dude! Thanks so much for breaking it down!! Maybe I'm a sucker for suspensions ;) Yeah, I see what you mean about it really starting at 1:30. When they hit it at 1:40 with all that authority, it's just sounds so thick. I guess Patituci's tone is part of the thickening agent :D Top-Shelf.

  • @JonP1961 No problem men! Glad there are people who appreciate this music and especially care for the harmonic progressions, let's not let this things die. I'm a trumpet player and I've recently started a band and got to play this tune live, as soon as I have the video uploaded i'll get you the link so you can give me your insights! Cheers!

  • @proghome

trumpet, eh? one word: Chase. >opens tab and looks for the seminal Chase tune<.... Got it: Open Up Wide -

    /watch?v=MGeshSW3k10

  • @proghome

Came from a musical family, so was always exposed to something happening on some speaker in the house ;) Actually everything, from Chopin to Schoenberg to Chicago ;) I play very little these days (self-taught guitar), was in "band" when i was a kid (clarinet, bass clarinet) and had a very very limited amount of theory. Wish I had stuck with it starting back then. but after all these years, it fascinates me more now!

  • @JonP1961 Ok, Chase is amazing... Now go and try to get enough of Arturo Sandoval... (it freaking can't be done)

  • @JonP1961 I mean, these are great technicians and we all should be trying to learn from them, but this is chart music, and Jazz means so much more...

  • Wrong title.

This is.... "LOVE THEME TO SCIENTOLOGY".

  • Man Frank gamble can rip

  • the name of this song could not be more right.....

    CHARGE !!!!!!!

  • Yes, it is "dated" 1990 fusion jazz, but it is AS GOOD AS IT GETS!!! What a great song.

  • I was crazy about all of their albums, except for Light Years. Something about the production on that one. I'd have to say my favorite CCEB album was Eye Of The Beholder. And yeah, we can make fun of the way they looked, but it was 1991-92 people. Grow up. If you were, say, 17 or older in those years you were probably wearing something similar, especially if you were in a band like this. Ya buncha dorks. Let the music speak for itself and get a life.

  • @drewper73

As fae as chick's stuff, and the ridiculous long jacket Gambale was wearing, chick had a deal with an Italian designer, back then.

    Can't remember his name.

I asked Gambale about it at a guitar clinic in 98 and he laughed his ass off about it.

Go along to get along, eh?

  • one of the best and most talented groups of all time!

  • This should be the official theme song for the state of New Jersey.

What the fuck is Gambale trying to be with that coat? A Sith Lord?

  • @larkydozer trick question...he is a sith lord!

  • @fleshanditspower

More like a late night Walmart shopper with bad taste.

  • @larkydozer That guy is so good he can wear whatever he wants.

  • @TooMuchGass

Oh sure he can wear a bikini if he prefers, but just like your opinion of him,

it's just another preference, not a fact.

I think these guys are so lost in a concept they don't hear the video game noise

of the big picture they've just finger painted.

I mean, Bauhaus is better than this by light years.

  • Miodzio !!!

  • Sick!

  • Chick and the Elektric Band are phenominal.

This piece is perhaps, arguably, my favorite, not only because- as a guitarist myself- I enjoy this showcase of Frank Gambale's amazing chops, but the entire band says quite a lot in a short space of time.

I also recommend the 2004 Montreux performance of "Got A Match?" to see the band in an epic extended performance.

  • The best way to download this as an mp3 is on that site mp3iiffy. Awesome site. GOOGLE mp3iiffy

  • The best way to download this as an mp3 is on that site mp3iifffy. Awesome site. GOOGLE mp3iifffy

  • OOOH, John killed dat bass lick at 4:25-4:28, Sick!!!

  • yeahhhh ...wooooohooooooooooo

  • man gambale looks like obi wan kanobi

    lol

  • @feverlead WOW YOU MUST BE SO GOOD AT "ROCKBAND" It's for sure that you can't play a REAL GUITAR! How could someone's looks change the way someone plays?Looking foward to your response.

  • @guitarman693 frank gambale is amazing, still looks like obi wan to me.

    you must be a loser.

  • Gosh I wish I grew up during this period of time. This is so good!

  • @grantfloering I did grow up during the 80s and I went to all these Elektric Band tours. They were totally awesome (and I don't use that word lightly). I've never seen anything quite like this before or since - although Return To Forever last year came very close. Totally awesome!

  • Real talent !!!!!!!!!!!!. Music of today sucks, Britneys, Duff, Cyrus, Swifts, rapers everywhere. Fuc..... producers.

  • Love Gambale's Wig....It always cracks me up. Thank God he goes natural now.....LOL!

  • Hey dude....is that really a wig? Didn't know that. lol This was one of the first fusion concerts I'd ever seen (heard). It was on the same program as the Flecktones back in '90 or so (first time I heard Vic)....changed my life...no exaggeration. And by the way...that trench coat F-ing RULES!!!

  • Yeah nice coat for sure! I love Franks version of the moon walk @ 0:57....

    -G

  • Check Frank's skinny jeans too, lol! So dope, man Dave is real young in this isn't he? Anyone know how old....There are noticeable things in his playing that the now "more mature Dave" wouldn't do.

  • The Tooch is dressed like Peter Pan.

  • @GaryStanionis dave shuold have been about 30 when this came out.I'm almost 40 and I was 22 or so when it came out.He was born in 1960....

  • Dude epic final boss fight song!

  • Sue me, but I never really knew that Gambale played with Chick

  • That's what I call a real band.

  • CHICK COREA (keys/composer)

    FRANK GAMBALE (guitar)

    ERIC MARIENTHAL (saxes)

    JOHN PATITUCCI (bass)

    DAVE WECKL (drums)

  • "paging Dr. Marienthal to the ER, paging Dr. Marienthal to the ER.........."

  • @gemineyeguy hahahahahaha lol XD

  • gambale is such an awesome guitarist

  • This is not such a performance as you can watch lying a coach with Mickey.

  • not a fan of gambale's trench coat but his playing is sick!

  • beyound this planet

  • This is awesome bruddas!

  • jophdu,

I am not mad at you!! This is one of the greatest bands in history! Their music changed my life, and a lot of other peoples. Simply Genius composition, arrangement, and musicians

  • These guys are awesome!!!!!!! I listened to them all the time in the 90's

  • hey what's the name of the show... i wanna download the whole show... does anybody know??

  • In the link cancel "yourube" and write "voobys"; download the video with .flv extension from the new page and convert it in avi

  • Get free video converter. Works great!

download the MP4 (higher quality) version. It is very simple and yet very powerful.

  • Is that Meryl Streep with glasses in the audience at 2:36?

  • I love Frank's shimmy backwards at 0.58.

  • Note the converses

they clash nicley with the conductor's cape.

  • gambale = god

  • Canny syrup Frank.

  • Nope, I KNOW it is now. Fucking rippingtons and larry carlton and Flectones KILLED on this concert.

Thanks a bunch man. A friend lost mine.

  • This was Jacksonville jazz, Right?

I had the whole tape, and this just seems right on the money.

  • AWESOME !

  • not bad

  • Slick shit, I'm digging it. Sounds like something from Gradius 3.

  • that riff that john patitucci(sp?) played at 4:25......awesome!

  • his face as well :D

  • WHAAAAT!?!!!?!?!?

    They totally blow my mind...

  • I think that was one of the most impressive video I have ever seen with Chick. Wow

  • impresionante... de verdad q unos astros!!!!!!!>>

  • holy shit

  • Corea, Gambale, Patitucci, Weckl, Marienthal...WHAT ELSE???

  • this isnt typical chick instrumental....you can transcribe this by ear!normally chick's instrumentals are alot weirder than this :))

weird and strange harmony and melodies

    i love it though

  • Happened onto vids by Porcaro, then Phillips, then Gadd, then Weckl... then to Chick. Hopin' id get to upload this video n blow some minds. This is, in my mind, the PENULTIMATE of fusion. Finest era of Chick Corea. And an incomparable TOUR DE FORCE vid featuring Gambale and Weckl. Absolutely stunning unison riffs btwn Chick n Frank, and some of the finest soloing by Gambale to be found with Chick(and I'm a prog-rock/fusion guitarist of 35 years) This is Jacksonville Jazz Fest; approx 2003 or '04

  • What a group!

  • Where I can get or download partitures or tablatures from this?????!!!!

  • perfect!perfect unisons!perfect everything!THE ULTIMATE JAZZ BAND!FRANK GAMBALE ,ERIC MARIANTHAL,CHICK COREA,DAVE WECKL,JOHN PATITUCI!

  • This is a Gambale showcase and masterclass. Awesome. I've never heard a live performance of this song before. Major sections of it are remarkably similar to the studio recording. These guys are soooo tight. Gambale and Mareinthal must be telepathically linked! Check out 4:29 - 4:39!

  • man and add to it the last unisono! their perfection and synchronization almost scares me :-OOO ... :))

  • tabs of the CCEB are very rare i would say my self!i look up in great number of places and i found a few for GOT A MATCH and SPAIN...and thats it no more :(..well i have grown to hear the intervals beetween the notes and with alot of time i can transcript this :) eventualy hear it 1 mil times to get it by ear :D

  • Even Mickey House is diggin this ;)

Anyone knows where to find scores or tabs of CCEB??

  • Gambale looks better with no hair!

  • gambale looks out of place

  • NICE PIRATE CLOAK!

  • Gambale is God

  • Great solo eh? I like Gambale a lot, but i think there's space for a lot of guitar greats in history. My favorites are Jeff Beck, Frank Zappa, George Benson, Allan Holdsworth, and Pat Metheny.

  • I'm not monotheist ;)

  • fucking awesome guitar playing backed up by an awesome band!!!

  • Havent seen a band as tight as them, period.. Dont get me wrong though.. Tribal Tech, Karizma, Spyro Gyra, Fourplay, etc are extremely good as well.. But, this band seems to be an enigma in that they all fit 2gether, perfectly. Every player is perfectly polished.. It also happens to be Chick's favorite band as well.. :)

  • FRANK GAMBALE IS ON FIRE!!

The tightness of this band cannot be expressed with words.

  • I think GAMBALE was the best of all guitarists that played with Chick.

  • HAHAHA LOOK AT GAMBALES CAPE!

  • I love this song!

  • Do they have live videos of LITTLE THINGS THAT COUNT and LIFESCAPE?

  • WOOOH-OOH

  • The Thunder from Down Under!

  • why do you forget eric marienthal?

  • Astounding!!! Time to tab ;)

  • AMAZING. One very underrated CCEB tune!
