  • no.. you don't..

the kind of suffocating hopelessness expressed here, strikes far deeper than 'discontent'.. it's about loss, surrender, alienation, and getting to feel all of 'em every day like a kick in the balls..

did you study sculpture at st. martin's college?

  • This track off the 'Bowie-saved Iggy' IDIOT album is terrific.........so cold, distant, removed, and driving as it plods along with wailing distorted guitar riffs courtesy of the great Randy Gardner as Iggy belts out discordant lyrics of discontent and malice. One of the greatest mood pieces ever created!

  • @leonakita you don't fuckin get it

  • @kiddshellac i don't?

  • iggy genius

  • Iggy's built like Lou Ferigno sorta

  • I AM A VIRGIN

  • I just realized this is an "Ubi Sunt" (Where Have They Gone?) a form of ancient Anglo Saxon poetry. (!)

  • I sow the iguana in portugal 1981.

    he's semply an stage animal!

  • the iguana lllllllllllll luvit

  • The Norwegian Dum Dum Boys are the real and ONLY Dum Dum Boys. Check out "Splitter Pine", "Metallic Hvit", "Hagelangs" and many more fantastic songs. (although I have to admit these guys are not bad)

  • These guys are the reason Dum Dum Boys has its band name. The song plaing is called Dum Dum Boys and the performer is Iggy Pop. Even if Dum Dum Boys as a band band is my favourite Norwegian band, iggy Pop deserves a lot more respect than your comment.

  • I agree. I ment no disrespect to Iggy Pop.

  • This song rules

  • Amazing the influence old Mojo had on Iggy. Morrison had a massive influence on Iggy, not so much for his music but because of the beautifully insane way he acted onstage..

  • If you check out Iggy in the early day, No Fun, 1969, you can see how skinny he his from his heroin habit but when you watch this clip, he refers to James in the beginning (himself) as going straight and you can definitely see the change in his body. I wish Zeke had gone straight too!

  • @oldiebgoody you sure it is not williamson he went straight around the same time right

  • It's funny that Iggy wrote such a great song about these guys, considering that he fucked ALL of them over. Read his bio, if you don't believe it.

  • This song just does something crazy to me. It's such an amazing song.

  • @flowerpower1611 Meeee toooo! Been singing it for days. Dum Dum Days!

  • @flowerpower1611 aaa... me too ... i just literally got that crazy feeling and then saw ur top comment and was like unreal!!!

  • I knew Zeke Zettner (Tom) since his brother, Jim & I had a long-term relationship. Zeke started out as a roadie for local bands, SRC, Alice Cooper, then The Stooges. In the early 70's, it seemed like everyone was shooting dope. Zeke went out in his Mom's basement 11-10-73 and his brother Jim, younger by 3 yrs, died 11-29-73. Iggy was 1 of those "dum dum boys" as well! Somehow he survived his excesses! RIP my friends, you're forever in my heart!

  • HI, Im Tom and Jim's littlt brother Bernie. Saw your post and just wondered who you were. Out of all I've read over alllllll these years, You were the first (and only) person to actually know the facts. If you have the time hit me back. Look forward to hearing from you

  • amazing song I haven't listened to for years - good musical and other memories - that guitar riff - those vocals - those lyrics - Iggy - genius

  • beautiful; what a resonant, sad voice, v powerful.

  • "Looked as if they put the whole world down." One of the best lines of all time.

  • im still fascinated...but we all know da dum dum boy are dead...i sometimes feel like i need some noise...so i just...

  • my all time stooges song..still years later this song takes me back to my own "dum-dum" boys...and i sure miss their noise!

  • didn't Ian Curtis of Joy Division hang himself during (or after?) listening to this album? i know curtis already had problems of his own, but the fact the fact that an album could evoke such strong emotions and actions in people is amazing. Classic song.

  • yeah, you can see that on wiki and on the latest biographic movie about Ian Curtis, Control, released some months ago.

I also digg this song. it's really sweet

  • I dont belive it!! mai pensavo di poter vedere questi video, ricordo la cover di the idiot.. mitico iguana!!

  • They say that we'll take but never give...Its crazy but I fell the world disappearing in the same rhythm of this song. Things are not the same, Iggy was right...Dum dum are you alive or dead? Not feel the same way to get in through like before...Where is the noise...

  • right

  • the noise does not last long enough my friend but at full on it kicks ass put on your headphones and let it happen make sure you have good class A enjoy/Steven

  • "whats rock doing? he's livin with his mother"

Rock was actually "rock action" which was Scott Ashton's nick name, THIS SONG IS SO COOL!!! it's about how iggy first saw his origonal band mates of the stooges

  • anyone out there, remember Venom and, the Replicant clubs, cos this track reminds me of them and the people who were there,

you still got the rubber fetish Nick?

  • Some of the strongest songs I know...wonderful composition, is it really Bowie playing that unique guitar riff ?

  • Is it? I think Alomar worked together on this one, I always figured Bowie only did keyboard for this album.

  • yeah, Alomar (as did the rest of Bowie's band during that time) played on the Idiot, so it was probably Alomar with that riff. Bowie mostly played keyboards and synths and all the other instruments in here. It was a great collaboration and the Idiot is defnitely one of those albums that make you think "good god, what were they thinking? this is genius."

  • Most probably it was Carlos Alomar who played guitar on The Idiot. Bowie lent Iggy his backing band for the album. Bowie, played keyboards and sax and all the other instruments besides the major ones, drums, bass, guitar, etc.

  • wasn't it Ricky Gardiner?

  • wasn't it Ricky Gardiner?

  • Yeah, this song rocks!

  • le montage est génial!!! les groupes et les scènes sont vraiment bien choisies!!!

    et ton pseudo est terrible

    I love Birthday Party!!!

    +

  • I absolutely love this song , Iggy was at his best when this came out.

  • this is too cool! Iggy!!!!!

  • nice musical pallet.

  • Hehe pallet, it's all late seventies early eighties music except for Morrison. Can't tell the last shot though, seems early 80's too unless its some edited footage.

  • ΠΡΟΣΕΧΤΕ ΤΟΥΣ ΣΤΙΧΟΥΣ...ΘΕΙΚΟ ΚΟΜΜΑΤΙ

  • Best sleazy blues-rock riffola of all time.

  • i love this song, these two iggy pop albums blew my mind (Lust for Life and The Idiot) when i realized that is was bowie that was behind this work i became a huge fan of bowie, i LOVE this song though, awesome

  • wth?

  • great taste like always.
