Cropping has been banned in Germany--the home of the doberman--and in most European countries. It serves no purpose, except to change their appearance. The doberman's natural floppy ears are fine.

@yahwhous It makes them hear some 30% better i think it was, Its especially good for police dobermans and it does keep them at a much lesser chance of getting ear infections

It depends upon the puppy. Odin's ears stood up at around 2 - 3 months of posting. Some dogs take a full year, some never actually stand.

Doberman ears are naturally floppy. Cropping is a procedure done to remove the skin from the outer corner of the ear. The dog is asleep and given pain medication. After about a week or two, the scabs heal and their ears are posted. During several months the cartilage hardens and the ears stand.

His ears are cropped. It is a fairly common procedure for the breed that makes their ears stand erect.

Aww he is so cute! Grrrr bad measuring cup...lol! How old is he? I would have loved to have had my dobie boy's ears done when he was little, but it's illegal here....owell nice dobie!
