I really don't get why they made Godric Eric's maker... How about the Appius Livius Ocella storyline?! And why would they kill him so early in the series. Just doesn't really make sense to me since I read the books.

@Kaysje this season was made before the readers were introduced to Appius,so they took godric's character in the book and made him different and unique. they killed him off because they didnt think he would be soooooo well liked, but after finding out they are gonna keep him in flashbacks and stuff.

@Kaysje I think TB wanted to explore the idea of a vampire who wanted to meet the sun & needed to tie him into the main storyline better than he was in the books. His tie to Eric made Godric very meaningful. Also I think TB wanted to show a healthier maker-prodigy relationship to contrast with the one between Bill & Lorena. Eric's love for Godric helped evolve his character, showed he was capable of deep emotions, which was essential to make his relationship with Sookie believable later.

Godric seems to be the only character with any depth in the mediocre series of True Blood, adressing the serious questions brought up in the television series about trying to find co-existence with humans and vamps found through understanding and empathy, how savagry does not just belong to vamps, and that death and aging is a natural process in which vampries have upset the natural order, and that death is not something to be afraid of. sorry to see him go, but also very fitting

@Johnniafx Not sure about what ep. but it was in season 2, at the end. They had just "beaten" the fellowship of the sun, and went back to godric's for a party of sorts, when a member of TFOTS walked in strapped with silver and a bomb, and he detonated it. Hope that helps
