I think one of the reasons Sylar keeps changing shape is because it conflicts with his healing ability. His healing power wants to restore him to normal, but he keeps changing what normal is, so it gets confused.

Also, I just watched the preview again and it does look like Nathan or Peter are gonna die. If its Peter, there might be a twist. Maybe his full ability comes back at the last second, or something.
