I thought a Jumbo Jet (747) was huge when I first saw it flying from Heathrow to Melbourne when I went with Qantas last year.

God knows what I'd be like when I fly there on the A380!

The Airbus 380s performance is better and has got a way better computer system. Everyone likes the 747 for it's history and design.

It's not like they actually buy and owns the new planes, same as other businesses they borrow money to rent the planes....at the end of the day Qantas still charge Australians more to travel because we are Australians. Take the Kangaroo route for example, much cheaper to buy LON=>SYD=>LON than SYD=>LON=>SYD !!

I must admit, the A380 has grown on me. It's a beautiful airplane and looks nice in Qantas paint. It looks like the A380 has a bright future ahead of it.

yeah, it kind of does... when I first hear and saw pics of the A380 it was the worst thing in the world, but in Qantas colors... it's pretty nice... hope to fly one one day when I go back to Australia

Me too. It's an ugly plane really - at least until they stretch it... but it looks better in QF logo - the raked red tail gives it a cleaner look - wonder what the new BA and AF A380s will look like?

anyhow, if you look at the ad properly, Qantas is "making commitment to the future". Well, there goes. He IS the future. Future Captain of the A380 or Boeing 787.... so guess in terms of advertising, IT WORKS!!

Why do they put a co-pilot in it? why not a captain? and when they show the A380 being built, why on earth does it have a red nose?

I don't want to sound offended, but we are somewhat invisible in the world of aviation. When people see the three stripes on our sleeve and shoulderboards instead of four they barely even talk to us. Therefore it's good that they put a co-pilot. And pardon me if my tone offended You.

In my airline, during the announcements we don't even say "The captain and the crew.." we say "Both pilots and the crew..."
