  • @schematica I cannot get into Altium Live because it seems to be invite only, which sucks because I have a valid license with Altium just not a continued service agreement.

  • @sdashdash try the old forums dot altium dot com.

  • @schematica

I have no experience with this software, and I am desperate to use it to build plans inductors (spiral and meander) with a ground plane on the other side. I have tried to sofwares free, but they do not have resources to offset the addition of a ground plane in PCB double-sided, because it ends up changing the initial inductance, how do I calculate this in Altium?

  • How do you make the spiral traces in Altium? I cannot find any information on this but it is obviously possible as you have done it here. I need to make a simple spiral inductor.

  • @sdashdash Sign in to the Altium Live forum and do a search for "Planar Transformer" - Altium user Darren Moore has written and shared two very useful scripts with all Altium users that perform spiral traces and transformers with core cutout. I would post a link but YouTube prevents it.

  • That is amazing.....

  • why so many australian PCB desingers?

  • Hello

Can you tell me how did u figure out the no of winding/ turns in primary and seconday? Any help will be appreciated.

    Thanks

  • @hammad203 Sorry for the late reply... the actual dimensioning of the transformer (the number of turns, trace width, etc.) are all part of standard transformer design for switching regulators. There are many great books on the subject. I would recommend starting with a tutorial from ferroxcube: search the ferroxcube site for planar design (can't post URL here stupid youpoob wont allow it.

  • @schematica I just read the enitre planar design document from ferroxcube and I still a little bit confuse because they do not go in detail, what are the books and/or links you recommend ?

Thank you very much for all your help

  • Nice job, I like vid very much, not really fan of planar transformers, but it looks great how you showed it!
