  • I was 3 weeks from being born when this song was in the top 10.

  • A Top 5 hit for Johnny Thunder in February 1963.

  • I also knew him as a very acomplished hair stylist in LA

  • greatest song ever, maybe hey jude is better or johnny b. goode.

  • Just seen Johnny Thunder on my Alaskan cruise on board Royal Caribbean's Radiance of the seas. He was great, It was worth every cent for the trip to hear this brilliant performer sing the classic Loop De Loop live.. Not only is he a great artist but also a beautiful person.

  • Teddy Vann, co-writer of the 1963 Johnny Thunder hit, "Loop De Loop" as well as 1991's "Power Of Love" by Luther Vandross, died of cancer in Brooklyn December 6 at the age of 76.He also produced songs by the Bobbettes, Jimmy Jones, Dave "Baby" Cortez, the Essex and former Ronette, Estelle Bennett (who was also his sister-in-law). As an artist, he's probably best remembered for the 1973 recording, "Santa Claus Is a Black Man."

  • Donald Lautrec has made a french cover of this song in 1963

  • I played bass with JT for many years. He is a great teacher and musician. His band at the time was Bobby Sharp, Eddie Santiago, John Mc Nair and Frank Irvin. We played so much more that this tune would let on. They were called the funky monkey at the time. He has had so many great ensembles and some well. JT was an original member of the ink spots and the drifters. Miss you JT

  • Did you know Teddy Vann? I worked with him to make a record that went nowhere. (I play piano) He claimed to produce Loop de Loop.

  • check the cover made by the walkmen, it's great

  • Thank You for Posting this classic!!!

  • Have been planning on searching youtube for some of those wonderful Johnny Thunder records on Diamond. His voice was almost as sweet as Dee Clark's. I'm shocked that there is only one posting of his material.

Anybody else got something? Maybe actual footage of a performance?

  • hi doowop- right on about dee clark -- also Marvelous Marv Johnson reminds me of-- them. sweet voices ps obviously Jackie Wilson

longtime (read- old) doowopper myself -peace

  • Night before last I dropped in to a local bar where an r&b loving buddy deejays all soul 45's wednesday evenings. The moment I stepped inside the classicly great Drifters' "White Christmas" went on the turntable. That was a season mood maker.

But shortly thereafter I heard a number that at first made me think of Jimmy Jones, but immediately thereafter I recognized it as "Move Two Mountains", a fine Marv Johnson B side that I hadn't heard anybody play in eons.

At a BBQ I attended last night I met an old Brooklynite who knew Johnny well and said he was a brilliant live showman. He had befriended Johnny in Brooklyn where Johnny was from - I never knew that - Wiki has absolutely nothing on him, not even his name. Anyway the guy had nothing but praise for Johnny as a performer, and human being. He had a few stories to tell that were charming. These are always heart warming things to hear and I thought you'd like to know.

  • hold on to your lunch
