I disagree with ur definition of gradient, this is not from dark to light color, it can be from a dark color to another dark color, or grey to saturated color, or light to another light color, a gradient is just a progressive way to mix 2 colors whether it's saturated, dark, light.

I did this, but a little differently. I had my base coat, of course. First I took a bright blue, (Blue Me Away, Sally Hansen) and I painted a dot on the tip of my finger. Then, I used a sponge to spread it out about three quarters of the way around my nail. I made sure never to put it fully to the cuticle, and the edge was uneven. I repeated the same steps with an NYC purple, and then a black leaving the edge higher up each time. Next, I just added glitter, and a clear coat!

The tape on your cuticles was a nice tip, I hate cleaning up my cuticles after painting my nails. Especially when I use darker colors. It takes forever!

I like it but the only thing I never do is use tape. Using tape seems like a waste of it. You can simply dip a Q tip into nail polish remover and go around the edges. Or the next time you take a shower after you do your nails rub around the edges.

This is art, people learn from each other and some things will look similar. It's the same with any other artistic medium. If artists really care about being "copyrighted", they should register their designs with a Creative Commons License like Robin Moses does.
