  • The dismantling of America continues. Do not forget this was also a military vehicle. Our enemies are circling in wait...

  • I couldn't believe it when I heard most of the workers for NASA "doesn't feel dis-heartened and emotional' about this last mission.

    R.I.P. Space Shuttle Program.

Doug, Chris, Sandy and Rex - Godspeed, Godspeed, Godspeed.

  • End of a Lemon! *** History will show that the Shuttle held the US back by using all NASA's resources. Landing like an airplane was not worth the extreme danger and risk of an SRB system (14 lives lost) and the cost 1.6 billion per launch. Thank God for SpaceX.

  • @ti994apc This was a necessary step. You cannot know how the money would have been spend otherwise. Cancel the money debate man, stuff like this deserves every goddamn dollar, and more. Instead of complaining about the the shuttle program, complain about the Trillion+ dollars spend on the Iraq/Afghanistan bullshit wars. Heck I'd just read that they want to cancel the Hubble follow-up as well. Why not hand over the keys of NASA to China while you're at it? ffs.

  • @Mueiwark True, NASA and Space deserve every dollar (and more). After 3 Shuttle flights it was very apparent that Shuttle cost not a little, but a lot more that a disposable system. By 3 flights, the concept had been proven. My problem is with 3 Shuttle flights p/year you get only 21 people into space. For the same cost you have have 51 manned Falcon9 flights or 357 people into space p/year. That is a launch every week. I want real space achievement.

  • I hope they socialize with extra-terrestrial people to boost up our technology.

  • HO MADE THIS BIG ELAPHANT

  • history will be made!

  • For a moment I thought he was going to say "Fully armed and operational battle station" at 10:12 :-)

  • RIP

    Space Shuttle program

    1981 - 2011

  • the end of a legend, the start of another legend.

  • Awesome. Thank you ; )

  • Go Atlantis

  • Worlds only reusable spacecraft? *cough*Buran*cough*

Still, beautiful ship - it just won't be the same when she's gone.

  • @SepradistPhantom Doesn't count if it's only used once.

  • @InsaneDavid Why not? It was a spacecraft, that worked, was reusable and went to space. What combination of that makes it not a reusable spacecraft?

Say what you will about Buran, the demise of one of the orbiters was simply insulting. These ships were designed and built, with love, to dance with the stars and one of them get buried in a hangar collapse? You tell me we don't have our priorities ****ed right now.

  • @SepradistPhantom NASA doesn´t count Buran because there was only an unmaned testflight.

  • NASA shoudlve sent the shuttle's full load of 10 astronauts on tis last flight rather than 4.

  • @UAL8658 There are only 4 crewmembers because there will be no rescue shuttle standing by. If something goes wrong they have to return from the ISS with the Sojuz capsules.

  • Farewell Space Shuttle...it was a hell of a flight!
