  • My cd player has a repeat button where I can listen to a song over and over again. Why doesn't youtube give me this option? I say this after listening to this song the seventh time. And tonight I'm going to watch the movie 'Great Balls of Fire' I love Jerry Lee and I'm honored to be walking this planet at the same time that he is.

  • I have a problem with JLL songs. Once I listen to one, I can't stop. The things he can do with a piano are beyond belief.

  • I love this song!!!

  • Beautiful! I thought this was a JLL song. Chris Isaak and his band nail this song on his new record "Beyond the Sun." Love the piano!

  • What a solo!!!!!!!

  • A truly great American Blues song

  • i love this version best next to the late great ray charles

  • Pamela 10469

Being the first Daughter of 4 Brothers prior, as a child, our Father had a regular accompanist to the old fashioned films, and mainly musicals, yes - me!

Therefore I was somewhat privileged as purse-strings were tight, to say the least, in those days.

Dad played piano & sang around the local pubs in our town.

At the age now of 64 years and loss of Dad of almost 22 years ago. I see EXACTLY what Dad saw in this "All Time Classic"!!!

There is no other version I'd rather listen too t

  • Johnny cash cant even come close to competing with the killer he's been rockin' for years and is continuing to rock!

  • I think I'm going to start talking about myself in the third person from now

  • Thank you killer!

  • He's great! :D

  • This is grown man music.

  • This is talent ,,i love u jerry lee xxxxxxx

  • is breathless on the soundtrack the same as in the movie?

  • killing is HIS business and business is good

  • ol' jerry lee sure plays and sings with much feeling, almost enough to down right break your heart....gotta love it!!!

  • the killer was punk rock long before the phrase was coined

  • Jerry Lee always seduces both men and women!! He weaves his web of heart ache and his impeccable chords add to his magic!!

  • @pat7893 you dam right pat.ive been hooked for,.....well, all my life. when i cant express what i need to say . the killer says it for me.

  • When you click on the graph & read the stats for most of Jerry Lee's songs they mostly compute that he is most popular with the male crowd. This is hard for me (a female) to believe. Any ideas why he appears to be more popular with the guys ??

  • @Pumarisi124 Didn't know his numbers show that. My wife (whose tastes are mostly Nina Simone, Sarah Vaughn, Carol King) told me in no uncertain terms not to lose a JLL cd I borrowed from her collection. I guess it's his reputation for dissolution, race, and his incredible piano that does it. If he is mostly a guy performer, I would say white guy even though he was heavily influenced by black music as was Elvis. Thanks for the thought provoking question.

  • @Pumarisi124 probably bc he was a bitch'n BAD ASS!!! Guys wish they could be that arrogant and cocky and get praised for it like he did!!!! He's the friggin man!!!

  • @Pumarisi124 i think most girls, dont wanna go there, maybe he imtimitates em,maybe they dont feel it to live with a jerry lee crazy would be heven to me

  • @hniscolV2 I don't really care what names you call me, I'm a grown man. The song kicks ass & has tons of feeling. See him live & you'll feel it,. Now try using this & other threads without resorting to name calling & insults, it makes you look bad.

  • @lahaila1

excuse me? im calling you a jerk because you started saying that im "feeling-less", as if im a souless being.

you want to throw dirt, you should be able to take it too

  • @jhniscolV2 well can't say you didn't deserve it if you can't hear the feeling behind this song.

  • @danhabsfan9

cant say you didnt deserve being called a jerk for what you said, o in my book, we are even

  • @jhniscolV2 well in my books you have no taste. so see ya later.

  • @danhabsfan9

and in my books the Ray Charles version is superior

  • @danhabsfan9

and in my books the Ray Charles version is superior

  • @jhniscolV2 what? what does that have to do with anything? since when was this a competition between two versions? all you said was that this didn't have the feeling behind it and all i have to say to that is you should unplug your ears.

  • @jhniscolV2 Ray Charles does a wonderful renditijn..its tough to say who does better....killers is more flamoyent..but so brilliant..tough call i think..even id say..but different

  • anyone know what CD this is off of?

  • @LinkReborn this would be the soundtrack to great balls of fire.

  • this is my new favorite song, love it when he does the blues

  • you can't beat Jerry Lee, a real legend

  • Wonderful performance - love his singing but most of all his fantastic piano playing.

  • I wonder how he felt when he wrote and first recorded this song... there so much truth in it! And he worked when he was old and gray..

  • thats the best jerry lee lewis song ever.

  • very good

  • This is the first time I heard Lewis' version. It's defintiely good, but I don't feel the emotion behind the song. This is a reflection of how everything goes no matter how horrible life feels, and I feel that this should be expressed with so much more emotion

  • @jhniscolV2 Seriously? What do you want, a suicide? If you can't hear the feeling, you have none.

  • @lahaila1

wow what a profoundly idiotic statement

i don't feel it, that's just me. instead of criticizing me, accept what i said and move on jerk

  • If you think he never got the respect he deserved then you should respect him today. He still preforms and still puts out material. I preorder all of his albums and even get some that I have had to import. Jerry Lee is the the best and I just hope he comes near my area again so I can see him in concert.

  • love jerry lee lewis! a wasted talent who never got the full respect he deserved.

  • love this song

  • The best version. So filled with emotion, as a praise to God should be! I love this song!

  • best version

  • Just got done watchin Great Balls Of Fire and as soon as i heard this song i wanted to hear it again

  • what key is this in?

  • @masseyharris441 This is quite simply in the key of C. The next chord after see is E minor. Nice sound with that combo.

  • Dinolord...You are wrong...I have been a fan of JLL since the mid 50's...These are not the "devils" songs, you sick, sad soul...I pity you for your closed and probably shattered mind...

  • @harleyjspoon I agree! how can someone call his music devils music. Just turn on the radio today! besides this song is clearly a plea to God

  • Love his music to no ends! This is a great version of this song and crazy arms. Goes to show ya that no one does it better than ol' jerry lee lewis.

  • @hansonmkusa oh man, crazy arms is awesome! Jerry lee wasn't just great at rock n roll he was also awesome at country.

  • so what if he married Myra

    it is his life

he played the "devils" music and everybody loved him

but when the truth come out they didn´t like him

    Those fans were fake

    they weren´t true fans

  • in which jerry's album can I find this song? i love it so much!

  • @palourdman it's on the 'Great Balls Of Fire!!!' movie soundtrack

  • this is a great song. and the movie was awesome i don't know what you guys are talkin' about.

  • how is this so good?

  • how is it not?

  • no one tops the killer !!!!!

  • It's my favorite too... Wheres a;; the rates...

    Give it up for Jerry..

    WOW what a deal.

  • I love you KILLER! This is my favorite song!

  • this is one of the greatest songs ever!!!

  • this is some grown ass man music

  • all you peoples are right i agree with all ur comments .....jerry lees the best!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is excellent version of this song

  • can somebody and help me out on what record this is on?

  • @BARE456 The Great Balls of Fire Soundtrack. Which is hard to find BTW

  • The soundtrack to the movie (wich by the way is awfull) "Great Balls of Fire".

  • @1Fog1 i hate it to. becuse its not like jerrys real life

  • I love Ray Charles but think this even beats his version..I love it!

  • Oh Please!!!!

  • @chez324 I can't choose...I love them both!!

  • My god! The piano solo at 2:20! You simply cannot emulate this style.

  • This song is perfectly placed in the movie "Great Balls Of Fire" during the scenes depicting Jerry Lee's decline after being found out while in England. That is where I discovered the song. I have heard other versions but Jerry Lee's is the best yet.

  • @RJS3566 thats where i just heard it too.

  • Last man standing. Who would have thought. One of the last rock'n'roll flames.

  • along with chuck berry we are very lucky to have the great talent with us.

  • best album in years, period. :)

  • God bless him. He's a great musician that never stops doing what he loves.

  • This song was originally written for and sung by Louis Armstrong.

  • I prefer Jerry Lee Lewis over Little Richard

  • The Killer at his best, What a guy

  • jery lee is great. so is little richard. their styles are almost identical. hey you people out there, who is really better?

  • Jerry Lee, you still have IT after all these years! I also learned a LOT from the late Ms. Del Wood!! Please try and take time to watch me play the piano. Sincerely,Allen Dale.

  • Priceless, it would be impossible to make this any better. Thank you for posting and sharing this. Keep killin', Killer.

  • god bless you jerry lee...the real king .

  • He's still the killer, the best ever within his class which is the top of all music class, god bless jerry lee lewis, may he forever live. love ya jerry from canada.

  • great stuff!!

  • i love that song

  • RIP - Ray Charles! nice version by jerry :) thank you !!

  • "My Gawd, let me roll around heaven all day..."

  • this song is sad but it is very beautiful great jerry

  • Can you by any chance upload the Dennis Quaid version of 'Lucky Old Sun' from this sound track, since it sounds like you've got it.

I used to own the soundtrack on cassette tape but my player 'ate it'. I've desperately wanted to play it for my friend because Dennis did such a great job, but I can't find it anywhere. Thanks

  • Dennis Quaid didn't sing anyting on the soundtrack, sorry.

The only song he sang on was "Crazy Arms" a duet with Jerry.

  • He means the song as well... I want the same one, It's how it was done is all..

    But..?

  • hes genious

  • I Love The Killer, He'll Live Forever

  • good, fine record

  • just great. watch it on the great balls of fire film dvd and it works really well.Dunsie

  • thats song is awesome

  • Man I love this song...

    Long Live Jerry! lol

  • ray charles aint got nothin on jerry lee lewis

  • i totally agree.jerry lee does this song best of all easily.

  • i love jerrys musik he is the only king of rock and roll

  • nobody can sing that song like the killer.. his voice.. i dont konw..but his voice.. hot.. the best version i've ever heared..the killer... just the killer..

  • what cd is this

  • It's a remaster/re-recording for Great Balls Of Fire Movie from the 80's. You can find it on the soundtrack. All the songs in the movie were re-recorded by the killer himself

  • i was watching walk the line and i was just wondering if elvis, jerry lee, cash, june carter, and orbison really all toured together?

  • Jerry Lee has always done things his way and plays piano the right way...his way. If he wants to sing the song like this then fair play to him. If you prefer the version from Louis, Willie, Ray or, even, Brian Wilson then that is fine. Variety is the spice of life as they......and Jerry Lee Lewis has had a hell of a lot of variety in his career. From country to rock 'n' roll to gospel he did it all and did it in his own style.

  • this was depicted well in the movie when things went straight to hell for him, stupid myra shoulda A. not married him or B kept her godamn mouth shut hes so talented and she went and fucked it up :( so sorry jerry

  • This is some of the best country blues piano playing I've ever heard.

  • The best version ever, Jerry Lee Lewis!

  • jerry lee lewis the real king of rock and roll

  • None and I mean absolutely noone can play the piano like the ol' Jerry Lee

  • nobody can touch him on this one !

  • This version is the s**t man. The man himself brought us redemption.

  • Ray couldn't touch this version.

  • I disagree. Every performmer has a different interpretation of the song. This version sounds like a performance (not a bad thing). Rays has a sorrowful feel to it. My favorite happens to be Luis Armstrong.

  • Hey, I agree wit' ya brother!

  • fantastic - thanks for posting it up

  • Ive just checked out dozens of versions of this song on you tube and nobody comes close to Jerry Lee Lewis. He is the man

  • MAESTRO!!

  • You know when i saw the GREAT BALLS OF FIRE movie i couldnt stop watching it! Man but Jerry Lee Lewis is so friggen cool! He is one of the greatest rockin' rollers that ever lived! Im only 13 and i listen to his songs everyday now. I love 50's music and he is one of the reasons why!

    YOU ROCK JERRY!

  • where can i download it???

  • he played this when he came here to los angeles to play at the house of blues it was the best was the best way to start the show

    jerry lee keep rockin

  • A smooth side of Jerry Lee Lewis.

  • Cool thanks. I searched that song here, after I watched the film five times! Thanks for posting!

  • Jerry carved out his own adaptation with his version of this song. When he sings it you can hear the pain he experienced when his career was shot to hell, as is well depicted in the motion picture. But nothing could have forced him out of his adoration for Myra.

  • Is Myra the cousin who married him at age 14?

  • Yes she is, Myra Gale Lewis. But i disagree with 9332931 on the film Great Balls of Fire. I find it idiotic and making a mockery of Jerry Lee Lewis portraying him like a mindless baboon.

  • I agree fully 100%

  • second cousin

  • This song is awsome. I like this version best because of the piano solo, and it's longer than the original. But the original is pretty hard to get.

  • Trully great.

  • norman okla feb 2 cant wait

  • thank you,thank you,thank you!!!!!

  • I like this version, but the one in Great Balls of Fire, the movie, is really cool too. I like this version though, a lot!

  • i´ts the same one that´s on the movie soundtrack.

  • My favorite Jerry Lee song. Well done!

  • Perfection......nuf said.

  • this is the best version ever

  • Doesn't get any better than this.

  • One of my favorite killer song's, could listen 2 it all day long!!!!

  • I love this one 2! A great version of a great song, from the greatest of them all..

  • very beautiful song and excellent interpretation by the greatest of them all !
