Hi SheepyRun, remember this, we are not there at the request of the Afghanistan people, we are there at the instruction of the US. The provincial reconstruction teams are been withdrawn and the SAS deployed. The SAS are a trained assault squad, destruction as opposed to reconstruction. They handed over 'prisoners' to be tortured by occupying forces. Some day individual SAS may find themselves facing a war crime tribunal, that's the reality.
As for them been 'allowed' to walk away. Obviously they can't do that and continue to claim wages, that's for sure. But its possible to get out before been deployed. Plenty of soldiers have absconded during these invasions and faced the consequences of that. Claiming the Government has total control over an individuals ability to leave armed services is nonsense. Im not saying it's easy, but it is actually an option. Like quitting your job because the boss is making you do unreasonable things.
That's actually not true. You are required to give 3 months notice before your release. And in the event that a unit is at 'Critical Manning', in a state of war or various other extreme circumstances, they ARE able to refuse that release.
The penalty for being AWOL is usually a sentence to SCE (military prison down in Burnham). No offence, but fuck going there. It's nothing like normal jail.

@evanderfan I agree. I have no problem with fighting them and doing it with short sharp special operations and intellegence. I just think its a waste of lives, money and time to occupy Afgahnistan and will only create more extremists. Besides Congress only gave the US military permission to remove Al Qaeda and not to occupy and nation build... so the US occupation is illegal and unconstiutional according to US law. These lengthy wars will go on and on and on just creating a cycle of revenge.

we are tolerant. If you suggest that we just boycott hostile arab nations and start attacking those we perceive as our enemies, trust me, the West will decline (which is already happening). We'll the first ever incident of Al Qaeda attacking Anglo-American interests was the 1992 bombing of the Gold Mohur Hotel, then the 1993 bombing of the World Trade centre and so on. I have friends in the Army and even such places as Sandhurst who agree Afghanistan has little to do with the 'war on terror' and know 9/11 was an inside job (Bill Bauer and Ray McGovern of the CIA agree). Even if you believe the official 19 hijacker lie, 15 of them were from Saudi...yet we invade Iraq and Afghanistan and have killed over 1 million (Reuters 2008)

Hi SheepyRun, remember this, we are not there at the request of the Afghanistan people, we are there at the instruction of the US. The provincial reconstruction teams are been withdrawn and the SAS deployed. The SAS are a trained assault squad, destruction as opposed to reconstruction. They handed over 'prisoners' to be tortured by occupying forces. Some day individual SAS may find themselves facing a war crime tribunal, that's the reality.

As for them been 'allowed' to walk away. Obviously they can't do that and continue to claim wages, that's for sure. But its possible to get out before been deployed. Plenty of soldiers have absconded during these invasions and faced the consequences of that. Claiming the Government has total control over an individuals ability to leave armed services is nonsense. Im not saying it's easy, but it is actually an option. Like quitting your job because the boss is making you do unreasonable things.

That's actually not true. You are required to give 3 months notice before your release. And in the event that a unit is at 'Critical Manning', in a state of war or various other extreme circumstances, they ARE able to refuse that release.
The penalty for being AWOL is usually a sentence to SCE (military prison down in Burnham). No offence, but fuck going there. It's nothing like normal jail.

If we ever do have a major incident, it will no doubt be the result of being involved in illegal, immoral wars of violence. The havoc, destruction and trauma that individual soldiers leave behind is the real threat.
