Please tell me is it possible that we can fire the giant tank body without bombing the three radiators? If one or two radiators is already bombed, can we bomb the giant tank body directly? Because my lancer is low-leveled (about 4), I need to bomb the giant tank body within 9 turns. It is so hard.

@hanwenjie1412 no, you cannot harm the tank without destroying those radiators. But you can go for training in the skirmishes, number 3 can be done in 3 rounds to get like 14000 xp so you can easily get your lancers on 8 (to get demolition boost <3)

BUT that stupid over-powered hot girl murdered everybody right when I got two radiators!! Luckily I accidently forgot ONE shocktrooper, Edy, behind my tank. I was like ChYeahh! And had her up on big tank to take out last radiator with grenade at last CP. It MISSED. I was like what?! And the tank moved so Edy jumped back to ground, and Sel killed her.

@TheOfficeJ yeah, the grenade throwing is kinda off. this is why you should save before ANY big move in this game, especially if youve come so far. i was able to do it by knocking down a few walls and ordering scouts to defend themselves. took me all night to do this right cause i suck at this game. did you succeed?

Hahahahahahaha!! Basically this video had my jaws dropped. I spent an hour with 3 lancers destroyed all turrents. A shocktrooper killed everybody ontop hill. Every other units hiding behind cover. Have an engineer hide behind tank to fix whenever. I was doing the whole battle perfectly with nobody knocked out. I had 4 shocktroopers and a sniper hiding in a long trench. THEN Sel's backup units arrived and came running to trench, all got killed by our crossfire. BUT

@mystvearn He has the levels listed above. He didn't fire 3 times in a row, it fired 3 times over the course of single turns. Demolition Order is something given when Lancers reach level 8.

Also @TJazZ1337, you'll save yourself a lot of grief by using bits of the turns that you could regenerate to take down the turrets. Alicia wouldn't have died otherwise, but I guess it's a moot point. brilliant strategy.

Can I know what level are the troops you are using? My sniper can fire only once/turn but yours can fire 3 times. Also, what level is Welkin since he can issue that boost demolition order. Only order I got from the graveyard was highest sniper request (2 stars). You must have spent a long time skirmishers leveling up.

o ya here is a helpful tip when the reinforcements boss arrives you can use the tank to make here go around it XD and she has to go a whole different way and then block hee again and she wont get to most of your troops.

ahhh grenades. i was using lancers and that took me like 3 shots each. not only that, but i went through the effort of actually destroying the guns on the sides, but apparently thats not necessary.

I have tried this chapter 3 times (2times this way) but Selvaria and the lancers come and completely destroys my tank and my soldiers. I am so frustrated and too tired to play it over again.

So i'm not gonna finish the game instead check the walkthroughs.

BTW it is a very good game so buy it. I am just not good enough at it =(

@mrklobouk I use a video capture card. It's basically a device that has a USB on one end and AV wires on the other end. AV wires are the red, white and yellow cables. You connect those to the output of your ps3 or tv and connect the USB to your computer. It allows you to "capture" the footage directly on your computer and convert it in a video file. I personally use Dazzle Video Creator Platinum. It cannot record in HD but more expensive ones can so I have to set the PS3 on SD while recording.

If you're still thinking about doing a Speed Run of this, I have something to say. It will be very luck based, to do it in the best time possible you need potentials activating at the right times, the right orders to be give from the old man, and the right units to be available right from the start. And save scumming probably won't be an option as no one wants to watch 5 million segments.

I didn't find this level too hard. Block the enemy tank with your own, it won't move, take out all turrets, knock down the walls then instead of later, take out all enemies on the field, then let the tank out, bust up it's radiators till selvaria arrives. Have all your characters near the camp, hiding amongst the walls etc... then sel will go for the ppl around the tank, the path the tank takes towards your base will block her off on its own if you stay to the side. Then it's easy.

I didn't really find this level very difficult. I thought I was going to lose a few times, but I never actually had to start over, which would have sucked, seeing as how I didn't know you could save in-level back then.

The fight against Selvaria and the Marmosa were horribly difficult, however.

i used 4 shots with lancers to take out those radiators and in the end welkin got owned because i didnt have enough turns to kill the tank xD

goddamnit! I could have done this in a much easier way than I did! First I lost like 4 or 5 turns destroying all the machine guns, and then my first thought when I saw the radiators was to throw a granade at them, like diamonds break diamonds, ragnite breaks ragnite, right? But when I threw the first granade I didn't get it inside the radiator and it did nothing, so I had to do it with lancers while blocking Selvaria's view with the tank

I think this mission took me two tries. Was close to losing on the second try becuase I didn't know the enemy reinforcement commander (the white haired girl) could took out so many of my units so fast. had 3 lancers at the time so I was in a comfortable position to take the tank out. But yeah pretty much she killed all but one lancer luckily.

It was really just down to she and the tank. My snipers (main unit) took out all other soldiers :D

I've no idea why people think this is a hard mission. I found it to be quite easy. 1. Have a trooper kill the troops on the hill (scout and lancer can be both killed with one turn). 2. Have the tank shoot every turret once, and let the lancers finish them off. 3. Toss grenade inside the radiators on the back and left side for one hit kill. 4. Make sure everyone's hidden behind the walls on the bottom of the map once they've done their jobs to keep them safe from Selvaria.....

(cont) 5. Order retreat on any soldiers who won't make it to the south side in time/done their job. 6. Have a scout kill the lancer from Selvaria's backup unit. 7. Let the Edelweiss kill the rest of the troops. 8. Once the last radiator opens after the turret shoots for the third time, have a scout destroy it. He/she will get hurt by Selvaria a bit, but should make it. 9. Have the Edelweiss finish the Batomys.

Btw, I meant to say in step 2, have the tank shoot the turrets on the SIDES once.

Eh, So I followed this except for at the end i did not use demo boost, My tank had all up to date parts of that has to do with anything, but It allowed me an extra shot so I could use the mortar on the rare ace that is sitting next to the tank at the end..

Good call about demolition boost! I didn't know at the time but it actually only works on Scouts ans Shocktroopers. When I recorded this, I though it also worked on Tanks and Lancers too but I was wrong so demolition boost was actually worthless here. :)

9 turns is the minimum that need to go by to beat this battle. lol. Got an A on my first playthrough. Although I went with using 5 lancers to take out the turrets, a scout and shocktrooper for the troops, then retreating them, bringing out the shocktroopers for the reinforcements, retreating those, then the lancers again.

Probably not the most efficient way of doing things, but doing nothing for like 6 turns out of 9 feels like a waste of action.

But why does the enemy not react? At about 1:06, one of the guard gets shot & killed right in front of another guard, however, this remaining guard simply stands there as if nothing has happened.

From the many clips I have seen of Valkyria Chronicles, it doesn't seem like enemies actually fight back whatsoever. Then at about 1:50, this remaining guard gets shot at point blank range.

different guys can shoot back while others cant, when out of shooting mode, only the engineer, scout, shocktrooper, and, if close enough, the edelweiss shoots too. lancers and snipers cant. that's why that guy didn't shoot back, he was a lancer

trick works like a charm. One note i would like to add.....Save/Load is your best friend in this mission. This strat works but its dependent on the sniper getting three kills. Also you can move largo behind a wall so he doesnt get killed. also you don't need demo boost. If you have attack boost..use it on the edelweiss. If you have full CP by 9. The edelweiss should have no problem taking it out. great strat and saved me a headache mate.

This is complete and utter bullshit. The blue chick woulda killed that scout turn 1 of her being there. I had a enginner at the other end of the map andshe stoped up top andkilled him turn one from that far of a distance.

I just beat this level for the first time. I wouldn't have thought of using the platform for sniping the guys on the cliff -- but I guess I got kind of lucky. I sniped one of them from the southern starting position, and then moved a shocktrooper up the cliff and a bit to the south to that trench.

The next round they pretty much all slowly moved towards him and he just mowed them down one after the other. :P

It's because he skipped like 4 phases dude. The more phases you skip, the higher the CP you get in the next phase.

I was having trouble with this Chapter and decided to give this strat a whirl. In my game the boss kept ordering all units to attack and the Valkyria moved in close enough to take out my guys in the trenches.

Lost to soldiers (B Rank) but I'm still happy. This battle was a pain in the ass.

3- My Sniper stayed alive long enough to pick off the second platoon that arrives including the one ace, might help if they start picking off any stragglers.

4- I brought an extra one on both the top and bottom during deployment. Didnt need it when i finally won, but still had them.

Finally beat this, after seeing your strategy used still took me 3 times to beat. Some suggestions for anyone still having trouble after seeing this.

1-When rushing the tank with scouts use defense boost orders first, i had a big problem with the guns killing them before they got there!

2-It can be done with only damage boost, and still only using your tank!<!< thats how i did it.

try buying armor upgrades by outfitting your tank, also keep in mind the radiator facing explosion is a one shot kill. so upgrade tank and don't put your back to lancers/tanks with your own tank.

I can send you saves, that show the final layout of my characters for each story battle if you want to, you can pretty much figure out how I did it.

I just recently beat the game, and trying to beat the hard skirmishes with my lvl 1 char and tank.

I've done this mission with lvl 1 characters and no upgrades, with a lot of reloading because of lancers having no sense of aim... I've actually gotten up to chapter 13 by just using ace weapons and royal weapons, with level 1characters, and got rank A on every story and skirmish so far.

Hm. Smart use of the sniper. But to be honest I think that within those "No action needed" turns of yours you could've used Edelweiss to get rid of several Batomys' Turrets. Would've made the approach for the Scouts tonns easier. I mean you managed it still, but personally I preferred to have my 7's riddled with bullets less ^^;

Hmm, I got stuck on this one, but yays! Wut I did is when the second Radiators come out I shoot one with the Edelweiss 3 times, then use a scout to blow the other one up, and when the 3rd radiator comes out I blew it up one hit and just shot the tank then on and taken covor from whats her name!
