The attorney was supposed to check to see if that was legal, considering the mayor vetoed something that would affect her personally.

Point of clarification: The $12,000 the new mayor is talking about involves checks Mala and her mom, former mayor Barbara, took to pay for trips without authorization from the board. A few months ago, when the board (Amos, Thomas and King - not sure how Barber voted or even if was present) voted to have the Brookses repay the money, mayor Barbara vetoed the order. The attorney was supposed to check to see if that was legal, considering the mayor vetoed something that would affect her personally.

I'll be glad when everything comes back, that would finally get Leland where it should be. It's no sense that Leland should look the way it does. Just in case you did not hear, it went before the board, it was turned down, and the board's decision was vetoed by the major which means rejected. That's not theft.

but was given the chance to risk their lives at battle (a total injustice). So I don't have a problem with a person not standing before a flag. The flag is only a symbol of a country, it's not God or whatever higher power someone believes in . I remember a few years ago the state had a vote to rather keep that confederate flag or dismissed it. Well unforturnately we kept it, but I have a right to not salute it. So the flag thing is not a big issue. Sometimes when people don't like you.....

A checkered flag means you've won the car race. The confederate flags depicts a time in America that we were at war with ourselves. It was the brooks the one under the table and the other Brooks' Mother and daughter one was x-mayor just defeated by a 2 to 1 margin the other was an alderman. They have held the towns meetings hostage with their antics. all Mayor tired to do was ask them to repay the money they stole(8000 dollars) before criminal charges were filed. They both have turn their backs to American flag for years at the pledge before ever town meeting.

I am from Leland, and why anybody black, white yellow or what ever your background put with these two is beyond belief. Anybody that turns their back on the American flag during pledge of allegiance is just short of treason and should have been removed from office. As for as a law suit, I am afraid she will be on the losing in of the stick. These two has been an embarassment to Leland and their color.
