Holy cow, they sure used to do a lot cooler things with apparatus than they do now. :-( I wish it was still that way! Too much contortion, too little apparatus magic these days.

I am inclined to agree here;while they are SO alike, Nastia has a much higher forehead than her mother. Anna looks so very young here. And, as I already said, I absolutely LOVE this leotard:)
Stupid to compare, yea. I think Kabaeva in her prime was better than Kochneva in her prime. Personally, I love Anna's awesome (for her era) flexibility but alot of things in her Rythmics are a bit rough. She doesn't go to releve in alot of her laybacks and balances and apparatus handling was not as good as Lobacha nd (in 88) Timoshenko. I don't know how she died Panova for Gold on Clubs! :(
Another thing is that she came in 4th at this competition which is a given considering there were only 2 Bulgarians and 2 Soviets. Had she been from a different country and performed identically she would have been in like 8th place, if even that. Rhythmic is a dirty game :)
You can't really compare them. They belong to totally different eras. It's like comparing Vera Kaslavska with Nadia Comaneci and Nadia Comaneci to Shawn Johnson. Gymnastics has evolved so much over the past 20 years that it looks as they're not practicing the same sport!
