Actually, I always thought the Starships were built out in the Ocean, that way as more of the ship got built, it would sink under the water. When it was complete, it would just lift out of the water. Building a ship with such an odd shape on the water seems better than rigging up all sorts of scaffolding and supports that were used in the 2009 movie.
Good job, though the thing that always got me is, in the early days shouldn't starships of been built on the moon due to the fact that it has way less gravity and no atmosphere?
Geez we have some stupid people posting here. just as this very nice clip suggests, the hotrod enterprise was built on earth then broken into pieces. they were then lifted into orbit and reassembled. just because you didn't see it in the film doesn't mean it didn't happen.
Yup. Because that's how boats are made now. We build the battleship outside in the middle of a field in Iowa, then once it's complete, we disassemble it entirely, ship them to San Diego, and rebuild them in the water.
Your supposition makes PERFECT sense. You're REALLY REALLY smart!
@hossrex so let's see. i make a comment on a fan made video about something thats fiction. then watch out here you come with a stupid response. i guess star trek does draw retards. i'll be heading to kansas tomorrow, i hear they're building an aircraft carrier out there. hopefully i'll make it before the move it to the ocean! idiot.
It's funny. I was going to make an actual response to your post, and then I bothered to look it up... and there isn't any aircraft carrier being built in Kansas.
Which... pretty much blows up your entire point. FANTASTIC!
If he doesn't like the comment, he shouldn't read them. I'm doing nothing worse than anyone else, I just happen to be the idiot you DON'T agree with (this is a retarded argument, and we're all dumber for having participated).
You know...as much as I liked the latest movie...I was hoping it would incorporate some scenes like the one you have posted - considering we see the Enterprise being built on Earth.
It would have made for some dramatic scenes either seeing the ship lifted into space in pieces...or the finished ship lift off under it's own power.
@billybbunty i must admit, i like the new film, but for me it's no true star trek film. and if they showed the enterprise lifting from ground, by it's own power, i think the film should have been namend "Star Wars", not "Star Trek", because Star Trek was all the time a little bit realistic. The Constitution-Class could NEVER be flown on a planet, as we have seen in TOS, where they get back in time to 1968 or something like this.
Yeah it's okay.... actually WAY better than I could have done...

What was his point? That it's fiction?
