yep exactly.. Nothing beats the fat warm sound of a genuine gibson les paul, i do like the clean channel on the whatever its called hahaha i would put the duncan's in the gibson and hang the others on the wall for looks..
I gotta say, nothing like a fat Les Paul tone... especially dirty. But the cleans on the Suhr to me are way better. And the Suhr does hold a candle to the LP tone dirty so I'd probably go for the Suhr, for playability too.
I think the problem with tone is that people try to only go for sound without taking the "feel" into consideration.
After playing for a little while I realized that tone is more about how the sound makes you play and how it responds to your playing versus how you sound. Even though two rigs may sound it the same the response each gives could be totally different. That's why people have favorites and go for the most expensive rigs even if it seemingly sounds the same as a cheaper rig.
I'm blown away by your talent and broad range of skill sets. Add that you're funny as heck too! You are very generous with your time and talent. Keep it up.

I seriously can't understand why you have such an expensive rig, for a rough metal tone that you can easily get with any high gain amp or pedal and a cheap korean guitar with emgs... sorry
@koolynoodyano That's because in person it sounds and feels a lot better than "cheap". You are a decent guitar player with what appears to be a good future in the industry, I wouldn't think you would bother to post an antagonistic comment even if you thought it to be true.
You will find as you get older, those that act rudely, will get treated rudely...eventually. Sometimes even if the thought is in your head...it's probably best it stays there.
@samhillband I don't think Koolynoodyano was intentionally being rude, He is just young and expressing His opinion. That said, I second Your reply.
Your gear and tone are incredible and You are a first class Guitarist ! You definitely know Your stuff. Thank You for Your vids. I enjoy them very much!!!
@samhillband I agree - there's something about the way the 'uncheap' gear feels in your hands! Suhr stuff is awesome and I would own all the same gear you have if my bank account would allow! I say if you can afford the good stuff, why settle for cheap?? Keep up the good work - I love your videos!
I agree full heartedly, I actually enjoy your videos and because of your extensive knowledge and understanding of great tone I have invested in an axe fx ultra and a few sets of black outs for a few guitars I have. I love the OD100se+ but can't justify the cost. I also love the Suhr guitar but can't justify the cost. So I bought a 10th anniversary prestige and put blackouts in it. Now to load the ultra with patches. If anyone deserves a high end rig it is you Mark.
Kooly's comment wasn't harsh in the slightest. The tone is mediocre at best and sounds messy and certainly over the top in terms of gain. Either you accept that or you must be deaf. I understand that some love the feel of vintage style instruments, but this style of music just as easily achieved with a Line 6 and a Schecter (great value guitars)
The idea he should have kept quiet is oppressive and quite honestly, fucking stupid. He is completely and utterly correct!
In saying that, I can see that you are certainly a great player, and it upsets me that someone went to the trouble of learning (and perfecting) various techniques, only to stop giving a fuck when it comes tweaking the tone. I can't understand it.
@Carthsgtr Everyone is entitled to their opinion. That is a good thing. To say that I don't give a f#%k about tone is quite honestly f#&king stupid. It's just our opinions differ on what we like as far as tone. I'm glad that not all have your opinion or I wouldn't have a job in LA now.
@koolynoodyano Cause he can and he wants.... Why you bother to spend hours to play your licks if you sound exactly like a cheap korean guitar with a shitty amp.... Someday you will appreciate quality dude... maybe after puberty....
Easy winner. The Suhr stays in tune ten thousand times better. Gotoh Floyd Roses are the best Floyd's on the market. The action on the Suhr will always be superior to the LP's. Stainless Steel frets, 16" fingerboard radius/20" I don't really know. But a superior guitar. I wan one soo bad. I'd love to have a Suhr Moder seven string. Too bad they cost 4 g's up.
To judge which guitar is better, the Les Paul or the Modern, is simply a matter of personal taste. They both sound wicked. But let's face it In the hands of Mark Day even a Jay Turser would sound killer :D
I posted on the cae 3+se rack video a little bit ago.. now i hear this.. im just amazed... I planned on building a rack with the cae 3+se with a bbe sonic maximizer as well as an alesis EQ and the mesa 2:90.. the price of the rack would be around 2500$ "ebay" already been doing alot of research... I noticed you had both rack and head... AND iv read that you recommend the head"od100" over the rack.. BUT is it worth the extra money??? PLEASE respond with anything?!? thank you!!
Hard to really compare active and passive pickups. The Les Paul will have a very unique sound on the rhthym pickup and tone backed off giving that great jazzy/bluesy Dickey Betts-type tone that I'll bet the Suhr can't do. "Great sound" is in the ears anyway and there is no "best" guitar" - it's only what you like.
With that much preamp gain i don't think you're going to hear a big difference between guitars, especially through a video, just my opinion. But I like the way both guitars sound.
to what do you attribute the "chimey-ness" of the modern's clean sound? could it not be just a fresh pair of strings on there? (btw, the clean sound on that modern is unbelievable. sounds like my esp m1 with an emg81 through my mark iii.) sick sick amp, and awesome vid.
Is there any way you can do another comparison? I'd love to hear the difference between the Suhr and a PRS. The Suhr is just so superior to the LP. Amazing!
@is9582 I think saying that the Suhr is superior to the LP is not a fair statement. The Suhr is moded, has active blackouts, and is being played through his own amp which has been tweaked for his tone. If you were to swap out the LP stock pickups, and play it through that amp after being tweaked i think you would have a better comparison.
It thickens the mids up but that part is only really noticed if the patch is clean. It adds some gain for dirty patches but seems more like a clean boost with not much tone change.
I would disagree with apples and oranges. You can go around youtube and find several el34 amps and several 6l6 amps and etc and after a while you can recognize their signature overall sound regardless of preamp tone.
The same with pickups with low output, high output and actives.
why do you prefer active to passive pups? just wondering, neverreally played them except in a MM Luke. In the Luke I thought they felt and sounded terrible.
Mark once again you gaet a great tone how does the moderne compare to your prs singlecut with the black outs. I can feel my suhr standard moving further away the moderne has an incedible weight of sound dare i say it tremonti ish i think but better cleans from you demo
You know, I've never cared for the look of Les Pauls. They sound great though. :)

Nice to meet you. All sounds of your animation are very wonderful.
I am using KOCH POWERTONE and TC G-FORCE.
ISP Technologies DECIMATOR PRO RACK G is used.
However, even if iSP Technologies DECIMATOR PRO RACK G is used, a beautiful, wonderful sound like you cannot be emitted. What usage is done?
