  • I read Paper Towns about six months ago and loved it. I just randomly started watching vlogbrothers about two weeks ago but completely failed to make the connection. I think the problem is that your name is not very memorable. I suggest coming up with an imaginative middle name and have all your books reprinted with that name added in. For instance, John Harthacanute Green, or John "Peanut Butter Face" Green.

  • 0:41 molly lewis.... just sayin'

  • I don't own any copy of Paper Towns at the moment ... but I read a library copy and it is awesome to the power of three hundred and I have ordered it and I will be getting my very own copy soon. Except, because of the whole New Year thing, the post service won't be delivering it for another week. But nevertheless. It's going to be the one with the map pin on it!

  • I got the red pin one..?

  • YOU SHOULD BUY IT!!!!!

    ME: HELL YEAH!!!!

  • I got paper towns for christmas and I'm reading. It's so hilarious and just plain awesome. In the UK they have a different cover though so Margo isn't on the cover, but a map is with a pin stuck in it.....?

  • This will be me when TFiOS gets dropped on my doorstep.

  • I read Happy Margo.

    From my school's library.

The Kent District Library I go to has Sad Margo.

I do not own either Margo.

    *tear*

  • Hey nerdfighters....little help?

I haven't read any of john green's books and I was thinking of reading paper towns. I was wondering if it was a bit disturbing and unsuitable for me? Im a 13 year old naive happy smiley kinda girl but I can take serious......just as long as I don't get nightmares.

  • @Music4ever248

yeah totally read paper towns! I am 14 and I have the EXACT same problem when choosing books. I dont like scary/heavy things, and while paper towns can be a bit nervewracking at times, but its not scary. in fact its quite hilarous

    BUY THAT BOOK!

  • @Music4ever248 Oh, definitely read ALL HIS BOOKS!!!! Trust me, you might cry a little (from the pure, unadulterated AWESOME) but they won't scare you. Well, his main books. His zombie apocolypse novella is a different story (see what I did there?).

  • I just finished reading it. I was just reading the last 30 pages or so of The Grass, and once The Vessel started, I couldn't put it down.

  • I only own 26 books :( but I've read more books than that. Ahh Papertowns is awesome!

  • I own more books than Frezned. I'm happy about this.

  • i got happy margo :D

  • Just finished reading the book and all I can say is wow. This book is maybe one of the and if not the best books I have ever read. It was a story which seemed so extreme and thought provoking, but yet at the same time believable and somewhat easy to relate to real life. I just love the idea of paper people, the whole idea has just changed the way in which I see people, just wanted to leave this comment to show that even though the book may have been released a while ago it is still extraordinary

  • So I got it yesterday, and I finished it yesterday. Could not put it down.

    Bravo John Green, bravo.

  • I ABSOLUTELY FELL IN LOVE WITH PAPER TOWNS! Thank you so so so so so so so so much for writing such a fantastic story :))

  • I wanted the sad blue cover ): but I got a thumbtack...

  • I got the sad blue cover.

  • also I'm a Strong believer In random Capitalization.

  • Took out happy margo from my library... Might buy it anyway because it's amazing and i want to support john green.

  • Finished it today. Frezned pretty much summed up my thoughts.

    I cried.

I am proud of this fact.

I started reading at around 3 PM and was surprised when I looked up and discovered that my room was dark after I finished it.

  • i got the pin XD but still the bestest book ever :3 and i read it with johns voice in my head which was cool XD

  • i got a tack! but it's still an amazing book. although i think the best John Green book is Looking For Alaska, which i read constantly in November. I have read it like thirty times now probably

  • In approximately 2 and a half hours I will be buying one of John Green's books. I need to know which one. They all look awesome.

  • I love this book and Looking For Alaska! I haven't read AoK but I want to! (:

  • I love this book!! :) One of the best books ive read this :)

  • I haven't read it yet, but I really want to, and I got my schools book club (me and six other people, four of which my friends)to read it! I FEEL ACCOMPLISHED! :)

  • I absolutely Love this book! I can relate so well to It, and your Books feel like its something that Could actually happen to anyone! You capture so well the thoughts and emotions That course through the mind of a teenager! You are my Favorite author! and your stories are always leading to something I Would expect but turns out completely different, yet I Somehow feel as if it Was unavoidable, just like Real life! Never stop writing, and i will never stop Being a nerdfighter! DFTBA!

  • I haven't even finished paper towns yet but, COMMENTING IS VERY STRESSFUL FOR ME RIGHT NOW BECAUSE I WANT TO READ IT MORE AND MORE!!!

It's the kind of book that you just cannot put down. WARNING: PAPER TOWNS IS MORE ADDICTIVE THAN HEROIN!

  • (sorry for double post, but i feel the need to explain myself

I bought a happy margo, new, at my local bookstore a month ago. THAT'S why i found this so freaking awesome. what's more, it was J-scribbled! *happy dance some more*

  • happy margo. THREE YEARS AFTER THE FACT *happy dance*

  • At the end it says "epilogue" but it links you to the prologue, just sayin'.

  • I have slightly scowling Margo. Or at least my library does. It DID contain a note written by a fellow Nerdfighter, though! WIN!

  • THERE SHOULD BE A PAPER TOWNS SEQUEL

  • GRAMMER NERFIGHTER (SNOB) ALERT: The title of your video is a question. However, there is no question mark. IM SO SORRY IT JUST BOTHERED ME.

  • what's up with this the various covers? why did he do that?! =D

  • we have to bring books to our englsih class and the class was totally silent... until i started laughing whilst reading Paper Towns XD every time i read it i laugh and/ or cry :D xx

  • red pin

  • happy margo. :)

  • @SaintVespucci Rosianna... she goes by missxrojas

  • I have the one with the pin. At first I was like "Oh man, why?!", but in fact I like it a lot. It's different from the Margos.

And Frezned, wonderful person, this recension is amazing. Oh, love.

  • I don't have a Margo. I got a big red pin. :(

  • sadly, i dont have a margo. but i would prefer happy margo. sad margo scares me

  • my favorite book is paper towns :D

  • I didn't get a Margo. But my order of John Green books is PT -> LFA -> AoK for sure

  • Who is that speaking at 1:05 I think I have actually just fallen in love, no seriously.

  • Who is that speaking at 1:05 I think I have actuakky just fallen in love, no seriously.

  • What Frezned said about the "reading a book your friend wrote" is EXACTLY what I said when I told my mom about Paper Towns! DFTBA!

  • I got the cover where Margo turned into a tack and a map. o.O hahah but I just finished it today and now I NEEEEED Will Grayson Will Grayson!! NEEEED

  • I did my independent book project on Paper Towns in my English I class recently. My projects was a compilation of the wise words of Margo. I will have to say that rereading her quotes made me appreciate how amazing you are as a writer, John. Some of the things that she said in that book are genuinely truthful, heartfelt, and brilliant.

  • I never read books, but when I read this I sat with it, and Loved it!

  • I never read young adult fiction when I was a young adult (all of 3 years ago) and now I'm regretting it.

  • paper towns is the first book i've read from green, and i cannot judge a teen (and older) novel again. this book is just amazing. even though i'm a teen, i prefer reading classics because there's just soo much meaning behind everything. the themes and inspiring ideas in classics (that's missing in chick flicks) make me day dream for weeks. paper towns is like that, only this day dream would last a life time.

  • paper towns is by far my favorite john green novel<3

  • I bought the book yesterday and so far it is awesome!

  • I read Paper Towns from 7 till 12 today. Finished it.

Yes, I am very late on the uptake but.... it was fantasrilliant.

  • JOHN YOU ROCKKKKKKKKK !

    dftba

  • I really really liked it ! I hope that I will become such a good writer some day =)

  • Fantastic read! Even though I'm not in high school and am, in fact, in 8th grade I still LOVED the book.

  • @TheSmartChild13 yay for nerdfighters in junior high :3

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one that hears John's voice in my head telling me a story when I read his books.

  • AHHHHHHHHH I LOVE PAPER TOWNSSS

  • Paper Towns is my fevorite book ever. I have a Sony eReader copy, and I read it in like a day. Literally. I love love loved it. I think I got the happy Margo copy. Not sure. But, still. I loveloveloveloveit. So, I just wanted to say that.

  • I just finished reading Paper Towns for the first time yesterday, and it is amazing. Just amazing. I so agree with what everyone said about it-- it's hilarious, yet thought-provoking, lighthearted, yet contemplative, and awesome, yet FREAKING AWESOME. Bravo, John. I can't wait for your next book!

  • People have such nice things to say about Paper Towns!

  • This morning, I got out of bed, brushed my teeth and got back into my bed and did not get out to eat breakfast until three hours later, when I was finished with Paper Towns. It was lunchtime by then. IT WAS SO GOOD!!!

  • I don't usually read 'fiction' but after watching this I have formed a resolution to read paper towns! Some of those reviews were really engaging and the book sounds interesting and funny. One up for Nerdfigters!

  • i liked paper town... i loved the ending! i've got the one with the red pin... but looking for alaska is still my favorite

  • i purchased the red pin paperback version, but that's okay because what really counts are the words inside, also, i like maps and pins, so there's no problem there. and no offense to the margo cover or the margo cover lovers, but i like my interpetation of Margo more than the happy/sad cover. so red pin and maps it is, paper towns, yesssss.

  • I didn't get either Margo cover :( I got the red pin

  • no Margo, just a red pin on a map. Such an addictive book. I used to only be addictive to PS3 and M&S cookies

  • This was an EXCELLENT book. I found it so hilarious that I literally could not read it in study hall, I kept having to cover up my uncontrolable bouts of laughter with coughs. (One of the most odd sounds I've heard in a while, btw) Great job John!

  • FREZNED!!!!!!!!!!!

Ah, I just had an epic fangirl moment when Tom filled the screen

  • Loved it.

    Like, a lot :D :D

  • I didn't get it because it's cheaper to get it on my Kindle... but today I was at B&N and I left a note about the vlogbrothers and nerdfighting and such in the sole copy they had.

  • I loved this book. I adored it. I worshipped it. I practically enshrined it.

Simply put, it makes the top three best books I've ever read. And it is awesome.

  • I got sad margo from the library, returned it, and then bought the red pin

I actually kind of prefer the red pin, now margo isn't staring at me whenever I'm not reading it

  • I got sad margo! (:

  • you know how many times i almost said yea my buddy wrote that then i was like dammit but the cashier at Chapters as i was leaving yelled out DFTBA which was awesome

  • JUNU!

  • I'll be buying the one with the map as soon as :

    a) I've finished both "HP and the Deathly Hallows" and "Chickenhawk".

    b) I have enough money.

Very much looking forwward to it, it sounds like a great plot! =)

    Nerdfighters!

  • I didn't get either Margo....I got the one with a map on the front!

  • Amazing Book! I loved the first read... :D

  • I got the paperback version (red pin)

I've read Looking for Alaska and I'm currently reading An Abundance of Katherines (which btw, is the best tittle for the 'in my pants' rule) and I think that Paper Towns is the best, followed by Looking for Alaska... Next up on my list of John Green books, Will Grayson Will Grayson. Just need to wait for it to come out (in paperback, 'cause I prefer paperback) in England. :)

  • @SinisterSoul93 See, now, I started typing my comment, then looked at the other comments and saw this. This.. is pretty much EXACTLY what I was going to say, so thank you, SinisterSoul93 for letting me not type all that =P

  • I got a thumbtack. >:(

  • Each time I've gone to my Borders bookstore, they haven't had ANY copies, paperback or hardcover. As such, I've had to borrow it from my library and got dark!Margo. :3

  • Comment removed

  • I'm a library person, so I had no choice in which one I ended up with. But they one my local library had(walking distance, which is fabulous), was the blue one. Honestly, if and when I do buy a copy, I would get the blue one. I'm not done reading it yet, will be in a about a day or so.

  • I LOVED IT!

  • My brother stole my signed copy of sad Margo...

Only God could know where it is now...

  • I got sad Margo from the library today. It's now 3:30am and I just finished.

Though it is late and my cognitive abilities have all but died, I must say this.

    Dear John Green,

Reading your work gives me hope. Hope in, among other things I don't have characters in this message for, idea that someone out there has found something they love, and that they are truly and remarkably talented at. It gives me hope that, perhaps someday, I can find similar fulfillment and passion.

    DFTBA and thanks,

    Susan

  • I got sad Margo, yay.

  • I didn't get a Margo. I got this red thumbtack. But if I did, I would get the sad Margo.

  • I got happy margo!

  • I just finished Paper Towns after borrowing it from the library. I'm definitely buying it now..i loved it. It was great because it makes you burst out laughing at some parts (making it kinda hard to read in study hall at school..lol) but then it still makes you cry at the end. JOHN GREEN. IS. A. GENIUS.

  • I got the advanced readers copy like, when it came out - so it has both margos - and i LIKE IT THAT WAY!!!

  • I got a map with a tack in it cover! it rocks that way

you guys are awesome like Margo

  • oh my i loved papertowns

i read whenever i could and sometimes when i shouldnt have

i got so attached to the characters... im kinda sad its over... anyway im reading an abundance of katherines next.... i keep hoping ben will come out of nowhere and make a penis joke

  • BUT BUT i have an ugly cover compared to everyone :(

  • I LOVE PAPER TOWNS!!!!! I just recently located it in my city's public library, and I was so happy that I had o get my brother to take it out for me( my card has a fine) and I am so happy that I did!!! You Rock John!!!

  • My english teacher made us read it but i liked it so it was cool

  • I got happy Margo! =D The one that I wanted! ^^

  • I really wanted to happy Margo, but I got the push pin. I was a bit disappointed, but the book content made up for it:)

  • I have just finished reading this awesome book a couple of minutes ago and i came on the web to do some research...i found out that so many other people love this book...thats great!!!! i read this this book, this 377-page-book, in 1 ( i said 1) day. BTW i would be a great movie....wow just think of who would be Margo or Q...just think about Ben or Radar!!!! more more more!!!!

  • I met John Green. He's easily one of the most interesting people I've ever met, and his writing is awesome.

Plus we share a favorite book (Catcher in the Rye).

  • When Molly (sweetafton23) appeared, I was like "OH WHOA I ACTUALLY KNOW WHO THAT IS THIS IS SURPRISING" and then I remembered she's a Nerdfighter. Awesome.

  • Agreed with frezned.

  • Walt Whitman and penis jokes. AWESOME.

    no margo :(

  • @clecle333 me too...poopy

  • @clecle333 Ya so did I, what is the reason that I couldn't get the happy/sad Margo? (keep in mind I bought this book like 4 months ago)

  • FREZNED! :D

  • @Mariswimmer7 hmmm frezned forgot to be awesome

  • I got happy Margo.

I read LFA in one sitting, and literally couldn't put it down(except when I had to put it down, and pace around the room crying, I think we all had that).

I loved AoK, more than LFA, but I didn't go so fast with it.

And PT was really good, but I think I liked AoK the best, and it's too close to call between PT and LFA.

  • who is the guy at 3:10??

  • frezned

  • It's Tom! frezned!

  • I read that book and omfg I couldn't stop!!! It's my favorite book omg it's amazing :D the ending made me cryyy

  • I got sad margo, and thought it was kinda funny how the O in tows is yellow on the blue cover, and blue on the yellow cover!Sorry, I doubt anyone found that nearly as excitng as I did, but anyways, paper towns is AWESOME

  • Mine was.. uh...

    An Australian publication.

    DANG.

  • Oh man I got this book aback in December and I read it SSSSOOOO fast it was fantastic! Ahhh! I had to order MY copy (Blue Margo, btw) off the internet because in my stupid little town in Texas they aren't all to hip with the new-sorta-inde-books thing. BUT then innnn liiike April (around my birthday, mind you) I saw it in a book store and I flipped a shit! I took a picture with my phone cause it was just SO crazy to actually see it!

  • O my gosh! I LOVED paper towns! I have sad Margo :( It was soooooooooooooo good! I def recomend it to EVERYONE!

However, there was one thing that botherd me a little bit (and this may be a spoiler so you might not want to read)

ok so in the begining Margo was all, I dont get why people care so much about the future and plan, but Margo's favorite thing to do, pretty much, is plan..

However this was great! This was the first book that I ever actually LOL'd!!

  • Paper Towns was AMAZING! It's definitely up in my top ten most favorite books. It was the first book by John that I'd ever read and... well, I can't even describe how much I loved it. It was... a realistic mystery. It held my attention and I couldn't put the book down. The characters were so amazing, and it made me happy... and sad. I was shocked at the ending, I expected it to turn out the other way! But that's what made me love it. It was unpredictable. A really good read! LOVED IT!! <3333

  • I got sad Margo. John, this was, without a doubt, the best book I've ever read, and I thank you, fro mthe bottom of my heart for creating it, and sharing this piece of sheer genius with the world. But GOD, was it hard to find!!! I tried countless bookstores in Winnipeg (capital city in Manitoba, in Canada for you Nerdfighters that aren't so goo with geography), and when I found it, I actually started doing my happy dance in the middle of the store! Thank you again, and as always, Best Wishes!

  • i got the australian margo! and i absolutely adore this book, i stayed up all night reading it... impossible to put down!

  • Paper Towns because i have read Looking or Alaska[omg thats another story.], Which i oddly keep caling Finding Alaska, but anyways. Margo, shit. Man does she satisfy my hungry angsty teenage questions.Like not the normal ones. Like we use the future to avoid the present[that was in Looking for Alaska.] and how she just ran away. And it reminded me of Into the Wild. Like how he trys to find complete happiness and god. I need to stop talking, point is, im glad Margo exist in our minds. At least.

  • Mine was a sad Margo. This book was just soo much something. There isnt a suitable word. No there isnt...But so how many books actually make you laugh? Alright i remeber the clothes situiation when they were driving was pretty funny "HArTIAGE NOT HATE" and the ugh "WORLDS GREATEST GRANDMA." but thats beside the point. So here i am feeling tottaly weird latly like idk, like everything is dead. Like that i shouldnt be here on this part of the earth at this moment. so i read TO BE CONTINUIED...

  • what is margo?

and im going to read the book because i hear its amazing and i wanna read an amazing book (:

  • margo is one of the people in the book. Both covers show a diffrent represention of her,but they are both wrong.

  • HAPPY MARGO FTW!111!!!!

  • I got happy Margo...

THE BEST BOOK I HAVE EVER READ.

  • I got sad Margo.

I read the book amidst a lot of major personal upheval. It was a welcome respite -- until last night, when I was reading it before going to bed, and realized that this is a book that has a point of no return -- there comes a point where I was no longer able to find a suitable place to stop reading, and was forced to read through to the end.

So I ended up saying up until 1:00 in the morning.

    I do not regret that.

  • I whole heartedly agree.

The same thing happend to me so I ended staying up till 4:00AM.

I found that Ben & I are scarsely alike, only I'm...well, female.

It's the best thing i've read since "the host".

    THANK YOU JOHN GREEN!

  • i had sad margo, but this book was incredibly amazing and life changing

  • i read the sad margo

  • I got sad Margo.

    Great book.

    I liked it lots.

  • uhm...what is this book? and what is margo?

  • Paper Towns is John Green's (one of the vlogbrothers) latest book - it's about people who learn how to understand each other. It's really good - I read it in 16 hours, but 9 of those hours were spent asleep.

  • happy margo

That book... I don't think there are great enough words to describe. I loved it so much.. definitely one of the best books I've read in a while.

  • I got sad Margo, but I wish I knew they had one with both! I would've totally gotten that. Whatever, either way it was an amazing book, I absolutely loved it. BTW, I totally agree with the person who said "it restored my interest in literature." It did the same for me, too, and now I'm reading like four books at right now. I love it, and I love John Green. And Hank, too, of course. :)

  • i got a total different cover! it sucks
