im thinking of makeong a jib rail but takeing out the side rails like u stated in a past comment response but how do i get the hdpe to attach to the wood with out having the bolts stick
up and scratch the crap out my boards wax please anwser
the only way is to use a countersinking bit and drill it in and use bugle head bolts. ___ \ / which the heads are shaped like that. drill the counter sinking bit in enough that the bolt is not petruding. I spoke to the guys from the plastic shop when i bought the hdpe about fixing it and they said there is no glue or adhesive that will fix it. ps hdpe isnt that good. he also told me that similar plastics wont slide (snowboards and hdpe are both polyethylene.
bought a 10' long 4" diameter pvc pipe and used pvc cement to mount 3 pvc half clamps to the underside. its a good way to mount the pipe without leaving anything on top to trip on
hey mate, killer setup! me and my mates were looking at making something similar. I just have a few questions, where did you ge the HDPE sheet from? and why did you need to silicone it to the frame?
cheers mate. i got the hdpe from some plastics place in dandenong on heatherdale road. they were the cheapest out of 5 places i rang. i wasnt using the silicone as an adhesive. i was using it as a type of packer. i squirted it all down then tightened the bolts until the hdpe was level with the two rails. see 2mintues 3 seconds. i did this because the plywood wasnt perfectly flat. does that make sense? to be honest if i was going to do it again i would make a timber frame and would leave out the
rails. so just the hdpe on top. the steel fucks your board. i had to use twice as many bolts as you see in the video because the hdpe kept going wavy and its started happening again. i rang up the plastics place and they said there is no adhesive on earth that will stick to hdpe so you have to manually fix it (ie bolts). the only way you could solve this is by using a thicker piece of hdpe but hdpes price is exactly comparative to its size so if you double the thickness you double the price.

I have a question! Should the metal or the hard plast be on top? Like, should to metal bars touch the skis/board or should the plastic touch?
Nice rail btw
TrysilJib 3 years ago
The plastic should be abput even with the metal rails on the side so u slide on the plastic and metal
LawLxROFLxwaffles 3 years ago

wodd1234567 3 years ago
no way. the price was $90 for uhmwpe and that was 3 mm. 1/2" is 12 mm and its all comparitive. so that would be 4 times the price. thats $360!!!
melbsnow 3 years ago
i would use 1/2" UHMW and cut out the plywood

use dishwashing liquid or liquid soap to reduce friction.
melbsnow 3 years ago
wow that is so legit compared to my pvc pipe rail. nice work

how did u make the pvc pipe rail?
trogdor187 3 years ago
bought a 10' long 4" diameter pvc pipe and used pvc cement to mount 3 pvc half clamps to the underside. its a good way to mount the pipe without leaving anything on top to trip on
tommstein12 3 years ago
how much did it cost?
trogdor187 3 years ago
well it was 10 for the pipe, 5 for eachthe clamps and, 5 for the cement so around 30 dollars total
youd probably want to buy another pipe to cut up into sections for the supports, so more like 40 total
