I'd really love to actually see that movie! I saw the Lion King when I was four, and I fell straight in love with Scar! xD I always assumed he'd had some kind of troubled childhood, and that deep down, he was good.

Kopa was originally Simba's son, in fact getting some reference in Disney books based in the lion king universe. It was called something along the lines of "six other tales" or something like that. But, eventually Kopa was replaced by Kiara and Disney considers him to not be a real character. Fangdrag (two comments below) has a pretty good theory about how he could've really existed but didn't make it into Lion King 2. Check out his channel for that video.

The OFFICIAL story is the cape buffalo angle. But you're right (along with everyone ELSE who has hypothesized about the scar's origin) in thinking that it should have come from Ahadi. It makes for a stronger family dynamic as opposed to a purely coincidental accident that should NOT have been as traumatizing as it eventually becomes. Taka was cut by a Cape Buffalo (it's horn) when he tried to get Mufasa in trouble. It was actually Shenzi and Banzai idea... probably why it whent wrong
