i knew this would be a good video when it started with my favorite movie quote. i'd say though, that choosing parkour/freerunning IS choosing life. maybe thats what he's saying i don't know. for me, choosing parkour means choosing to live instead of all that sh*t that 'mother culture' tells you is your only choice, forgetting that we are human and numbing our selves with our jobs, accessories, tv, games etc. This is a great video and its nice to see some new movements and different expressions.

@ichewtoast111 As i understand it, freerunning was a phrase used as a translation into english from the word parkour but it has come to mean one's free expression through movement that is usually developed after one has begun to master one's own movements. So once you can move efficiently (parkour), you can start to expand and create more expression through your movement, this is MY understanding of freerunning. This is not to say freerunning is a step higher than parkour though

@anarchopk That said though, i think parkour, l'art du deplacement and freerunning are essentially the same thing, it just depends on what you want to call whatever it is you are doing. the importance is the spirit of it. a good book to read is the parkour and freerunning handbook by dan edwardes of parkour generations. there's lots of good philosophy and history as well as technique and tutorials explained in the book, i recommend it to everyone interested in this art.

Originally Parkour and Freerunning were the same thing. The term "Freerunning" was coined during the filming of the documentary "Jump London" as a way to present it to the English speaking world. It was originally used interchangeably with the word Parkour until Sebastien Foucan took his ideas and theories and branched off of what Parkour was. Then they changed what Freerunning meant.
