Well, Wild is the Wind song/video was recorded 1981, and the blatant visual similarities in the videos are enough to convince me this was after thin white duke
This song was recorded in 1981 for the EP David Bowie in Bertolt Brecht's Baal. Bowie starred in a BBC production of the play Baal in which he played the titular character as well as sing the songs written for the play. So, yes, this was after his Thin White Duke period.
Same here. You know Bowie is giving his all when he actually makes people cry just by singing. I also couldn't wrap my head around how beautiful this was when i first heard it.
Such a haunting melody...I have to admit I don't like listening to it because David puts so much emotion into it I'm depressed afterwards...sign of a great musician. I totally agree with the whole "why did he get his teeth done??" comment, he had beautiful teeth! Beatiful, fangy teeth!
Yeah incredible. When i heard this first i really didn't get it. It was a real blessing that Bowie brought his fans on a trip which encompassed real culture; the wonders of Brecht etc.
Why has the "Baal" EP never been given a proper CD reissue? I know there are a pair of tracks on the reissued S+V box, but this music deserves to be heard. Come on now, "Tonight" and "Never Let Me Down" have been issued how many times, and this never? Easily, this is the last great music he has recorded.
Haunting, beautiful, actually makes my heart ache to hear his voice... Been a Bowie fan all my life, everything he does is magnificent, but this truly shows how tremendously talented he truly is-Love him!!!
This is from his production of Bertolt Brecht's "Baal." He played Baal, and sang the songs definitively - no one else can even touch his interpretation.

Been a fan of Bowie's for years and came to the conclusion many moons ago that he has two modes - absolutely brilliant and dire. This is a good example of Bowie in dire mode.
Ted Kennedy may you rot in hell!

Never seen this video before - very nice. Always thought "Remembering Marie A" had intriguing lyrics.
I prefered his teeth before they were fixed btw - suited his mouth better.

The entire "Baal" EP is brilliant, but I would have given just about anything if he had done this video using "Remembering Marie A." instead.
"Remembering Marie A." is a 2-minute masterpiece.

I think he always sounds best whenever he sings in deep voice ( like he does here ).

Wow, what a creepy, wierd but awesome song. The story is so dark and gruesome. The mood of the song perfectly fits it.

was this recorded at the same time as the Wild is the WInd video?
shropshirelass66 2 years ago
Yeah I think it probably was shot around the same time. WITW
was the single to promote the "changestwobowie" compilation album which came out around the Baal time.

Do an Ebay search for the 1982 5 track EP using terms such as David, Bowie, Bertolt, Brecht's, BAAL, then buy a USB Good Old Vinyl LP player.
