Wow. Wow.
I was a Royko fan from the Daily News days when I was a kid, and interviewed him for my school paper in '77. His manner was far more formal with a couple of high schoolers, but this video shows the famous writer as he was rumored to be, an enthusiastic conversationalist over some brews.
Most people wouldn't realize how important to Chicago Royko truly was--for most of us, Chicago was never Daley's town, it was Mike's.

You can watch this, and understand life in Royko's Chicago. The expressions, dialect, all bring me back to my younger days. I enjoyed this immensely.

Recently, I found a terrific photo of Dad wearing his Strikers uniform (the team he talks about in the video).
