I like the comments about how famous the spoonman is. Yes, he is, but so is Jim Page. Jim Page made it legal for street preformers in Seattle. The spoonman and Jim are great friends.
Great spoon playing. I don't agree with the politics, isn't it wonderful that we no longer hear the body count every night? Too bad gas is $4 / gallon, is must be Bush's fault.
We now have a new Emperor & he even has a brain!! But he is sailing the same course as the old one. Will we also be eagerly awaiting the sinking of his ship?
But I agree we need more of this type of music & then some!!
@alyssa982 looks like a Zappa "music is the best" t-shirt to me... "Information is not knowledge, knowledge is not wisdom, wisdom is not beauty, beauty is not love, love is not music, music is the best!"
the stupid britney spears and hip hop generation doesn't even know how famous the spoonman actually is. this guy was in soundagardes "spoonman" even in the music vedeo. man this guy is so inspiring
How ironic, you insult other people's knowledge on the man. Yet you can say nothing more than he was in a mainstream, pop rock music video. And you call other's britney spear's generation? You realize she and members Soundgarden are all mainstream pop artists now right? Hypocrisy at it's finest.
OK, friend, hang on a minute. WHICH Jim Page are you talking about? This is not the Englishman Jimmy Page of Lead Zep (no kidding); this is the American protester/songwriter from Seattle.
Is that what you were talking about?
I've seen the two of them jam often enough at Oregon Country Fair to say this SOUNDS like the real thing, my video quality sucks so bad that might be my old Dad lipsinking it, though.
OH MY BAD on the page part. LOL. But i don't think thats artis...My dad's knowen him for years and(at least from what i've seen) this dosen't look like him...

The lyricist is an idiot. This is just the mindless repetition of propaganda. Go get your own ideas you fucking 'tard. After you get a brain, learn how to fucking sing. And once you learn how to fucking sing and you've got a fucking brain, then go perform on the street. I guess its true that any kind of idiot can write a political song. Go play in the highway, old man.
wtf??? do you think jimmy page would play in the streets??? and if taht happened.... would'nt all the fuckin0 press and people would be on his balls_????
your a fuckin retard, this is jim page the amazing folk singer from seatle, not that fag from led zepplin, listen to this mans lyrics and youll respect him
you didn't answer my question: don't you think that the whole point of capitalism is that people produce something? these people are producing a lot of art for society and with their tallents they make a living. but then they also play for free.
In March, Norma J. Perez, the post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) coordinator at a VA facility in Temple, Texas, wrote an email (PDF) to her subordinates stating: "Given that we have more and more compensation seeking veterans, I'd like to suggest that you refrain from giving a diagnosis of PTSD straight out. Consider a diagnosis of adjustment disorder, R/O [ruling out] PTSD ... we really don't or have time to do the extensive testing that should be done to determine PTSD."
It's still continuing in Afghanistan and Iraq, and the Americans don't know the answer to "why they hate us"? Spreading the message of peace and liberty by carpet-bombing, by wiping out whole towns? Why wouldn't the victims of such brutality cry "Death to America!"
wow...you just hit the nail on the head...lol It's true that the people in the USA don't know that they are evil...simple physics prove the buildings fell too fast to have come down w/o demolition explosives, hard cold proof that the USA bombed it's own people...called a false flag operation...something common in Israel. Poor Palistianians...poor poor people of the world...I hope to move to Canada someday. Greed is not a good thing...another thing that the USA hasn't figured out.
Yeah, the mainstream media has just got a simple phrase to reject all that; "conspiracy theories". The American government has carried out such false flag operations before but the public does not know about it, they don't read how the CIA had planned to kill its own citizens in 1962 to blame it on Cuba, the American public doesn't read, they just get everything from CNN/Fox, they're not ready to believe how they could kill their own people.
American wars, coups, assassinations & sabotage have killed millions of innocent people around the world! Iran 1953, Guatemala 1954, Iraq 1963 and 1968 (installed Saddam), Cuba 1961, Vietnam Laos 1962, Indonesia 1965 that installed Soeharto, Bolivia 1967, Cambodia 1970, Chile 1973, Afghanistan 1979, Nicaragua 1981, Honduras Panama 1989, Venezuela 2002. These are not "conspiracy theories", google up these keywords, the US Government calls them "covert operations" instead of "war crimes"!
The thing about giving is that you expect nothing in return. You received a great performance, great writing and the truth. "The emperor got no brains"
Great Video!! I really Dig Jim Page!! I'm glad I have gotten to hang out with him and listen to him play on a few occasions!! And I've heard so much about Artis. Just never have gotten the pleasure of meeting him yet! Thanks for the video!
artis is my grandpa... hes a great guy.. im so proud of everything hes done... he still plays but lifes been tough for him since he lost his daughter, my mom... hes a total sweetheart and hes great at wut he does... even tho it doesnt make him much money, he chose to do it because thats wut he loves to do... one of the coolest guys i kno :)
You're Artis' grandkid? Wow! We put together a big pot for Artis back around, gosh, '87 or so when he was down here working Scarborough Faire in Texas for the benefit of his granddaughter, if I recall. Is that you? I used to live in the tower above him at the front gate, good times.
haha i was born in '87 so i would imagine i fit the description haha... thats crazy, i never knew about that, but that's awesome... i was his very first grandkid... :)
Some great talent. Not my politics, but it's good to see this kind of quality public music. There oughta be more dollards dropping in their guitar case than I'm seeing in this vid!
i'm 16, but luckily for me all my siblings were born before '86 and i learned everything about music from them.
