  • and the crowd is on its 30cm

  • Im 16 an I can throw a 12 pound shot 45 foot or a little more

  • @ethanmiko54 I'm the same age and I get around 44-46ft. I'm only a sophmore in High school and its funny to c the seniors when I out-throw them.

  • 23.12 m yeah!!!!!!!!

  • Hes a Cheat

  • Woot. 40 foot high school throws!

  • Jacko Gill

  • learn metrics damnit

  • un mounstro je

  • now lets see pudzian give it a shot ;P

  • @bloodyawakening

Nice pun. Although I don't think he'd know how to do it.

  • @Hafwaffy Neither would you.

  • @MsCottoncandylover15

    I didn't advocate that I would know.

  • when do you guys learn to use the metric system !!!!!

  • @creative2all No Kiddin' dude...

  • @creative2all Metric is too mainstream. We Americans are hipsters

  • I'm watching track&field videos now and dissapointed :"Here no talk about Usain Bolt could do it better ^_^ "

  • in my 8th grade year i threw a 46.6 feet, today i practiced witha 10 pound shotput and threw it 52 feet 9 inches and i didnt even put my technigue into it so it would probably be around the 55-56 feet mark, i hear that the hs shotput is sooo hard tho

  • barnes' spin is great no wasted movement at all

  • "On May 20, 1990, he broke Ulf Timmermann's outdoor record with a put of 23.12 m. Barnes was banned from competing for 27 months after testing positive for the anabolic steroid methyltestosterone at a competition in Malmö, Sweden on August 7 that same year. He sued to have the suspension overturned, but lost."

"In 1998, he tested positive for androstenedione, an over-the-counter supplement (famously used by Mark McGwire) that is banned in track and field."

  • @anst95 Who in the world do you think you are? If your going to try to "inform" people of what you think is correct you might wanna have the correct information.. In 1998 he was already banned from the Olympics. & he was already 32 and had 2 kids when is 2nd child was born he was not in the olympics.

  • amazing 23,12 metres!!

  • I'm in 9th grade 5 11, 180 440 dl, 235 powerclean, 245 touch and go bench, I only threw shot 41 i have verry very bad technique, but i throw 140ft 150ft constantly along with a 165 in practice

  • Im a sophmore with a bench of 225 and squat during the season of 215, i threw 47' 7.25" and disc i threw 122' 2" (crappy) idk if u guys are like bad woth technique or something but some of your numbers dont make any sense to me

  • I barely bench around 145 and throw 42 is that good

  • just graduated 8th grade have a pr of 124'11 and i got a feeling highschool disc will rape me. I had a friend who threw 40 feet in shot for middle school and just for fun threw a highschool shot in competition and threw 28 so theres realality

  • Okay for all the middle schoolers who think they will be gods in highschool I'm going to let you guys in on a little something.

I was 190 and 5'10 In 8th grade I benched 185 had a 135 power clean 280 squat. I was throwing the 8lb 48ft PR at 49'6. I thought that I would destroy in highschool for JV and be throwing in the 45ish range. Reality hit.

    In 9th grade I was 170 6'0 leaned out a bunch, 235 bench 245 power clean and a 380 squat. I PR at 36ft.... So yeah, you'll see.

  • this guy put me to shame i throw 43.6 and i weigh 298 but im only 16

  • @enlargedDoritos you're a big boy

  • @ScrubVids yep i like my mashed potatoes and gravy

  • yes and that shot is olimpic so it weighs 16 pounds whis is twice yours and u are problably actually practicing with the practice girls whis is only 6 pounds

  • the 9 people who dislikjed thius are the 2-11th world record holders

  • This fucker was caught doping.

  • @Philly2002 Oh really? I'm guessing you were too..

  • lol i'm 15 and i throw highschool shot around 35 ft without the spin...lol which i could spin

  • how much does the shot put ball weigh?

  • @zerok98 7,26

  • seriously, all you kids saying that you are 13 just shut the fuck up. your still 13, which means you still fail at everything

  • This guy was just amazing beyond words

  • I'm an incoming 9th grader and i can throw a 12lbs shot 36ft... im also 6'2" 250

  • @Rockylose pretty good. all I can say is that you dont want to slack and not lift weights. I didnt really get into lifting until the spring (track season) soph year. I came in 9th grade and threw 41', soph 46', lifted all summer, then junior year I went up to 53'11". I suffered a knee injury football my senior year and it put me out for good. expected to be hitting 56'+ that spring. which if you were lucky got you out of my HS sectional, but an AQ bid for state in Indiana. and I'm 6'3" 325 lbs.

  • For all the young kids that think they are good at shotput, tell me how far you throw when you become a freshman.

  • @thower5678 ur dumb ur shots are 8lbs highschool is 12lbs... im 16 and i only thow 30-33ft...

  • @rngstrdoug lol then u suck at shot put :D

  • @rngstrdoug with 12lb i throw 16m and i am 16 years old!

  • @rngstrdoug Im 14 and i Throw 27-29 :P

  • @rngstrdoug u suck

  • @4inches4u lol I'm not a thrower I'm a sprinter...rofl run the 100 in 11.8

  • @rngstrdoug lol yours is only 12 pounds lol mine is fuckn 12 killograms so about 24 pounds

  • @rngstrdoug Um Girls Shots Are 8 In High School. Guys Are 12, Did You Ever Think Maybe It Was A Girl?

  • @22boundreaux22 i throw a 32-35 and i am a 7th grader, going into 8th. You should be throwing in the low- mid fourties as a freshman. at least in Kansas thats what you need to throw, maybe in your state the standerds are lower. improve your technuiqe, because if you are moderatly strong, you should be able to throw farther than 32

  • @thrower5678 Im in 7th grade as well, and I throw 43+ on a consistent basis. so your not that big and bad boy.

  • @WoodCutKing i dont mean to offend you when i say this, but you need to toughen up. i bet you didnt throw out your shoulder, and if you did you probably hurt it through bad techniuqe. you should improve your technuiqe a lot before you thore in another meet. again, not trying to be offensive, just saying my opinion

  • Ok. U 8th graders throw 40ft but add in the fact ur using lighter shots. U act like ur throwing a 16lb like Barnes when 8th graders only throw like what an 8lb?

  • @Cubsfan4life20 Highschool girls throw 8lb, middleschool kids throw 6lb I think.

  • I may be rubbish in every throwing event; but I run the 100m in 11.2 seconds!

  • i have a shot put record for 13.5 in intermedate boys

  • I only throw the Javelin 70 feet. : (

  • i'm an 8th grader and my PR is 42 feet.

  • I think that he will exceed this record will be New Zealander Jack Gill

  • @llanffayyr No Jacko will peak he is a shrimp.

  • @ZSH2K10 however, Jack becomes a great champion, still has room for physical development and technical, while the record of Barnes, the giant Polish Majevsky may do when put with the technique spin

  • This is my second year doing track, and i'm a freshman in high school throwing a 40ft.

Anybody know a good average for freshman?

  • @placedevils96 good freshman throwers are 40 ft. its slightly above average for all the crappy throwers (like me) but its where coaches want good throwers to be at.

  • im super new to track and my best 8 pound is 24, i think im nervous about throwing my shoulder at like i did at a recent meet, any tips?

  • @WoodCutKing don't. =) hahaha sorry had to.

  • I'm an 8th grader, and I throw an 8 pound about 40 feet, and a 12 pounder around 30ish, he just threw a 16 pounder 75 feet... :'(

  • @AlexandcProductions dang, an 8th grader throwing 40 feet? I'm a runner, not throw. but I'm pretty sure that's very impressive for your age

  • @warhero1645 I throw forty feet and I'm in 8th grade

  • Damn. I throw 32. What's a normal distance for a moderatley strong Freshman in HS?

  • @22boudreaux22 Yeah When I was a freshman iI threw about 32-34 ish

  • He used steroids:(

  • doping control...was a joke...in the 80's and 90's

  • juice much?

  • i need help, its my first year throwin and im already a sophmore, i only throw 35s, do i need to squat more or what?

  • @KingWilli12495 power clean is very helpful. i do that everday. it helps on your explosiveness. plyometics are also helpful. also, try adding speed and all your strength into your throw

  • im a junior in highschool throw about 50 feet im like 6'3'' 225ish just learned spin a week ago went from 43ft to 50 just sayin! it works

  • Timmermann is the best ever. He did the glide which is much more difficult to master than the spin. He also weighed 50 lbs less than Barnes and is a tad shorter in height. Dont give me this bullshit about germany doping. You dont think Barnes was jacked on roids? Everybody was. Timmermann will be tough to beat.

  • @ChrisSousa9 Glide more difficult than Rotational? Theres twice as much technique to master in the Rot. Gliders may fight for every few inches they can get, but Rotational throwers can miss one tiny thing and they foul or scratch. Its much more difficult to throw consistently with Rotational because theres so much to learn and to get right in the <2 seconds it takes to throw.

  • 75 feet man, I only throw 30....

  • That is one big kid.

  • Comment removed

  • @CHRISQ234 Just another stupid arsehole american i guess? look at the facts before you speak you dick!

  • Timmermann is still the best shot putter ever!!

  • @ashlottie no bitch randy barnes is the best shot putter to ever live. he holds the record!

  • i like how he throws with a watch on lol

  • "Captain they destroyed our cannon!"

    "Randy Barnes! Get up here!"

  • i throw 25 feet.... yipee....

  • @ksr0516

im pretty sure he meant hes thirteen years old.

  • @TheBruiser012 Relax young buck, I'm not hating on anybody. And what do you mean "for the last time" - no one mentioned prohormone so far. Randy Barnes was banned from track and field comps for two years for testing positive for anabolic steroids. And, just a bit of knowledge; a steroid isn't just "synthetic testosterone/androgen" - it's any fat soluble 17-carbon atom arranged in to four rings. Cholesterol, certain birth control, some vitamin precursors... these are all steroids. Now AAS...

  • @TheBruiser012 Honestly dude, I don't really care that much about any of this. The dude took 'roids. We'll never know how good he would have been without them. He obviously had the genetics to attain the size and strength he possessed without the 'roids. Still - he took steroids. I work out frequently, but I'm not a heavy weight - don't have the genes. Even if I took steroids I would NEVER have Barnes' size or power, and never be as good at shot put. Still - he doped.

  • @TheBruiser012 German Democratic Republic?

  • My comment was more geared towards the fact that he was BREAKING RULES by taking steroids, not his abuse. Being a competitive athlete is different than just being athletic. You agree to a certain rule set when you compete, and by abusing steroids or other BANNED performance enhancing drugs, you're doing a huge discredit to yourself and your competitors. Randy Barnes was a WORLD CLASS athlete. However, he was also a cheater.

  • The Best Original Spin Technique Ever

  • some girl at my school whos 14 can throw 12.78.

  • how many meters?plz

  • its gotta be in the mullet

  • I fuckin' KNEW this guy would have a mullet when I clicked on this video

  • wtf with all the roid talk? roids dont help with technique? roids help with protien synthesis, causing greater gains in muscle.. even without roids, he could still set it he just has to work harder, roids is muscle, not technique, bitch..

  • @MrGilliams steroids do much more than simply helo increasing muscle mass. they improve recovery which allows athletes to trainer harder and/or more frequently. in many cases this is actually the main benefit.

  • i trew a 25 m yesterday no shit but i forgot to record it :( and i'm 14

  • Yes this talk about steroids is rubbish. Without the roids barnes would still have been world class. The roids make a tiny difference. I remember being told by Carl wallin dartmouth's track and field coach that a certain Irish shot-putter and rugby player who was 18 at the time could go all the way drug free as a shot-putter. The athlete in question didn't heed Carl's advice and went on to a pro rugby career

  • @guimarboy a tiny distance ermm more then 6 cm so the WR belongs to ULF !

  • And to think my personal best at thirty is 12m :)

  • And you truly think that the top-10 athletes in track & field or so don't use steroids?

  • its all the mullet

  • I'm sorry but i DON'T like this guy he destroyed professional shot put by setting an untouchable record by using steroids..

  • @RealFast0Food

everybody uses them, why wouldn he too

  • @RealFast0Food so did most of the eastern german athletes and very nearly ben johnson (carl lewis got off scott free I might add).

And no, the record isn't "untouchable" - Bolt ran a 9.58, when everyone thought the current record would be untouchable (ofc, he didn't have a tailwain the first time)/

  • Did Randy Barnes take steroids? Yes

But even if you take steroids, taking them won't turn you into a super-strong monster. You have to still work out to get bigger and stronger. As Geoff Capes says, "there's nothing you can't do with Steroids that you can't do without steroids" All the steroids do is accelerate the process. Instead of 1990, Barnes would have gotten the world record later on. Despite his steroid use, he is still a damn fine shot putter.

  • How heavy is that shot put

  • asterisk

  • doesnt matter if he took steriods or not, HIS TECHNIQUE IS IMMACULATE.

  • @djjsinclair ofc i matters...

  • @H3XZOc lol, it didn't matter for bolt - he never touched that shit and look at him compared to other steroid taking athletes.

  • People forget the amount of dedication it takes to get to this point, steroids or not. You can't slack when you're on dope and get this good

  • that guy just threw a shot put farther than i usually threw a discus (im 13). cry.

  • @pablopablopablo22 then you SUCK. if 13 m is all you could throw a disc at any point in your life.

  • @pablopablopablo22 i know youre pain

  • @pablopablopablo22 haha same here man.

  • @pablopablopablo22 pussy, im 13 and i throw the discus 101 ft.

  • @w00tman69 pussy, im 13 and i throw a javelin 147

  • @jabbawockey1324 PUSSY, IM 13 AND I THROW A JAVELIN 330'. see, that shits annoying. just because nobody likes you doesn't mean you have to be an annoying little cunt

  • @w00tman69 "pussy", i have self esteem and don't need to make myself feel better by being antagonistic on the internet.

  • @w00tman69 pussy I throw 130 in discus and im your age

  • @ThrowRuh Post a video if you want anyone to actually believe you

  • @w00tman69 pussy im 14 and my pr is 185 feet

  • wtf, what about michael carter and his uber-badassness? That man threw 81 feet 3 inches, and he's from texas.

  • @harro098765 it was a 12lb not a 16lb that carter threw.

  • @Milligan618 wrong carter threw a 12lb 81 ft in HIGH SCHOOL Randy Barnes threw it 75 ft with the 16 pound

  • @BigBlack907 look at my comment though I said carter threw the 12 that far. I know Barnes threw the 16lb 75feet.

  • Best thrower of all time , has held the record for over 20 years.

  • look at him compared to hoffa STEROIDS

  • @stevethemage123 Yeah he took em. But he threw further than Hoffa clean!

  • no one else threw that far on steroids though... he's still a badass the best "Clean" shot put throw would probably be Cantwell or Nelson

  • MrJuha, I would have to agree with you. I recently read an article on just this debate. There is a point of diminishing returns as to equating bench performance with the shot. Explosive work from the rack. Jerks PJ, etc. will have a greater affect. The amount of time it takes to apply the full force it takes to bench a large weight is not equivalent to the speed needed in the shot.

  • Interesting MrJuha, I agree that most of the power comes from the legs, but I would also say that bench is an important part to getting a stronger upper body for throwing. I wold also agree that a large bench is pointless unless your are able to do those weights in quick progression. This helps fast twitch muscles to develope and get stronger at the same time, so with a strong and fast upper body(chest) u will be able to apply more power at faster speeds, which then gets farther throws.

  • @stutzman2009 The power helps, I will say, But there is a reason these guys are so heavy. The shot put is a push, not a throw. Your muscles have to be big, not strong.(but that sure as heck contributes)

  • Ima go on this guys footsteps

  • bench pressing is highly rated,NOT overrated! benching helps huge!!!!!!!

  • in my book Bench Pressing is overrated.

it dont tell all of yours strenght.

I am weak in Bench Pressing but i am strong on other rack.

  • Drugs!! I know!!

  • Nah he is 6'4 and 23. 305 pounds of mostly solid muscle is not impossible.

  • this is a nice toss but the way he's built... this doesn't look natural and if he was tested positive later, then he should have been on dope already at this point.

There is NO WAY that a person can be clean and throw that far!! Just because you TEST CLEAN doesn't mean that you are clean. There are just to many ways around the testing procedure. I don't begrudge him though, and I would congratulate him, or anyone for that matter with such a great throw.

    It takes hours of practice

  • this is a nice toss but the way he's built... this doesn't look natural and if he was tested positive later, then he should have been on dope already at this point. look at his training sessions and these weights. he almost looks like a proffessional bench press dude.

almost all the WR's in throws are suspicious, i think Zelezny was clean and maybe Schult too back then (thanks to Kanter and Alekna with 73m throws that eliminated scepticism about discus WR) but the rest are probably on dope...

  • Why didn't the IAAF disqualify this record when he tested positive later that year? They usually get rid of all one's results the year they test positive. i.e. Gatlin, Tim, Lysenko, etc.

  • I think it was because he tested positive for Methyltestosterone, which is no good for size and power, they just take it 30 min befor a comp to boost aggression.

  • is this the WR? i dont think they should allow national competition to be counted for wr.

  • why not? if someone throws it farther than anyone ever has before it shouldnt matter what type of competition they are at, they still broke the record

  • could be rigged.

  • why not..

  • If Geoff Capes were competing and on roids, he would smash this record and bring it back to Britain :P

  • whats that in metres???

  • 23m

  • Do you realize what kind of strength level is required in shot put? Barnes was over 300 pounds of muscle and must have bench pressed some 500-600 pounds. Natural? Yeah right... show me a natural athlete than can be 300+ pounds of muscle naturally and I'll show you a three legged woman. They all juiced back then.

  • screw him, steroids do what they are supposed to do in such sports.

  • *tear falls from eye*

    i wana be like that

  • i do beleive his form is great BUT him and brian oldfeild worked together and they have pretty much the same form....me personaly think brians is better but what ever......but i do also beleive that roids got him over 75

  • ROIDS!

  • was he actually taking steroids?

what a shame man he was a true inspiration :(

  • Almost everyone took steroids then, ulf timmerman did too im pretty sure

  • Really? :(

  • @syizm Whatever it takes ehh? ends justified by means

  • @syizm What's wrong with steroids?

  • @syizm

Carl Lewis tested positive for steroids 3 times before the 1988 olympics. He was allowed to still compete, as the US policy was to keep failed tests secrect back then.

  • @syizm

right, because use of steroids makes him a non athlete

  • @tubermann1

No, it gives him a competitive over athletes who follow the rules and regulations and DO NOT use steroids. It's against the rules - regardless of if you support the use of steroi
